[See the full post at: How to Build a Lifeboat]I am still a bit confused about what a cash equivalent is. I would like some more information on “Holding cash and cash equivalents (i.e. short term treasuries)”. Are there other cash equivalents (other than short term treasuries). I am in Australia. Do we even have short term treasuries here? How do I get them? If I have them and then we have a crash, what do I do (cash them into physical cash?). Also how do I make my super more secure? I have it in a managed fund at the moment, should I choose the cash option within the fund orshould I get it out and invest it elsewhere? I have a self managed super fund set-up, but have not transferred the money into it. If I transfer the money into my SMSF what should I do with it? Should I (can I)buy the short term treasuries mentioned above??
