ParticipantCanada Just Declared Economic War on U.S. Steel — And Wall Street Didn’t See It Coming
On January 31, 2026, at midnight, Canada detonated a $12 billion bomb in the North American steel market. In a single coordinated strike, they ended horizontal remission on steel imports, imposed a 25% global tariff on steel derivatives covering $10 billion in goods, and slashed import quotas by up to 80% for foreign producers.
The result? The most integrated steel market in the world just fractured into hostile trading zones. Twenty-four billion dollars in bilateral trade has effectively evaporated. And the ripple effects are only beginning.
This isn’t just another tariff story. This is the complete restructuring of a critical industrial relationship that’s been 75 years in the making. From Algoma Steel’s catastrophic Q3 losses to Nippon’s $14.9 billion acquisition of U.S. Steel, from Trump’s 50% tariff escalation to Canada’s fortress strategy around domestic producers — every piece of this crisis connects to create a picture that Wall Street is only now starting to understand.
In this deep dive, I break down exactly what happened, why the January 31st measures represent a point of no return, how major steel companies on both sides of the border are scrambling to survive, and what this means for everything from car prices to infrastructure costs to the future of North American trade itself.
If the U.S. and Canada — the closest economic partners in the world — can’t maintain open trade in something as fundamental as steel, what does that say about the future of any trade agreement? The answer should terrify anyone who cares about economic stability.February 10, 2026 at 4:50 pm #230565phoenixvoice
ParticipantWhile some scam SNAP, others lose SNAP benefits despite being eligible and complying with requirements because those processing the data can’t keep up with the imposed documentation requirements.
My daughter turned 18 this past October. That placed her an adult ineligible for SNAP unless she was working or attending school or otherwise not required to work. Aggressively pursuing such documentation at age 18 was not the norm 18 months ago, but it is now. I received the notice in early October, and two days later I had the documentation of her school attendance and sent it off in the mail. Two months later, in December, I began receiving text messages and emails reminding me to turn in the documentation. The online tools have no way to check on this particular issue. I tried calling, but it takes 5 minutes of listening and entering in information, only to be told that the phone queue is full, and to call back later.
The first week of January I obtained the school documentation again, and not trusting the postal route, I uploaded the documentation to the online account. I looked back every few days, but no one had reviewed it. The emails warning that she would lose SNAP continued. Two weeks later I called persistently until I got into the phone queue successfully and waited nearly an hour to speak with someone. The representative looked at the account and assured me that no changes would be made in the SNAP allotment until the documentation had been reviewed, and that they were still running behind from the federal government shut down last October.
I found out that the benefits representative was wrong this past Saturday when I received the letter in the mail informing me that my daughter’s portion of our family’s SNAP allotment would be rescinded as of March. I have appealed the decision, asking that the benefits remain while the appeal is pending.
This is ridiculous. There needs to be analysis of the methods being used to scam SNAP, and then those loopholes should be closed. However, increasing bureaucracy past the point that the administration tasked to carry out the bureaucracy is able to keep up is not a winning strategy.

ParticipantThe rumors are outlandishly horrifying, worse than anything out of Hollywood’s scare factory, a slaughter of the innocents. Who knows if they are true — well, possibly somebody knows, but these would be things you cannot want to know. One thing I’d like to know: why don’t the dozens of so-called “Epstein Survivors,” grown women supposedly raped and abused by celebrities years ago as children, name their abusers publicly? What’s stopping them as they grandstand around the country? Or is it just another grift?
James Kunstler has been a Zionist controlled opposition operative for a long long time (and whether he does so out of complicity or a gob smacking level incredible ignorance I care not one single damn).
The fact is, Jimmy Boy, there have been at least a dozen such victims who made the specific crimes known publicly and personally in excruciatingly bloody grisly detail, named names, and who were consequently DESTROYED as a punishment to them and warning to others. They were protected by NO ONE from the evil vengeance wreaked upon them and their loved once, as a head on a pike to terrify other victims into silent fear for their own lives and the lives of their families.
The only reason James Kunstler wants them to expose themselves is so that they can be identified and taken out by Jim’s paymasters, and serve as a silent credible warning to other whistleblowers , and discredit all witnesses who don’t want to die for telling dangerous truths.
Fuck you, Jim.

ParticipantNot to put too fine of a point to it, or commit the offense of stating the obvious, but just for the sake of clearness and brevity, the only reason that all concerned government and commercial entities are withholding or hiding documentary and material evidence (on Epstein, Covid 19 Vaxxine genocide of humanity or Zionist conspiracy to rule an enslaved world) is because the evidence they protect is the evidence that will put them in a noose on the gallows, or prison for life and put an end to their grand scale depredations

ParticipantBad guys aren’t that hard to spot. They’re the ones who think and believe that their own ideas, comforts, possessions and freedoms are more important than yours, and behave accordingly. If they’re rich, powerful and can get away with grand theft, rape and murder with total impunity those are also good clues. Most of them are richer than Midas, as murderous as Jack the Ripper and untouchable through ordinary channels as the current Mr. Rothschild.

ParticipantThe day is coming, and maybe it’s already upon us, when the revelations of dark deeds become so dark and so numerous and interconnected that no single individual could possibly keep up with even watching the highlights (low life low lights?). That’s okay. Just do your part and know that others, too, are doing their part in dragging it all out into the sunlight where justice is done.

Understanding Deglobalization: The Role of Diesel and Jet Fuel
Posted on February 2, 2026 by Gail TverbergI believe that there is an underlying problem that most people are missing. A worldwide shortage of diesel and jet fuel is forcing international trade to begin moving into a new downward phase, relative to the recent share of GDP shown on Figure 1.

‘fraid so, and I got the trauma scars to prove it. If they had the nerve I think most of the Jones’es would look down their noses at me in contempt, but I’m a bit too scarily outspoken so they’ve always pretty much left me alone and did their disdaining in private where I couldn’t see them well enough to call them out for it.

ParticipantBillionaire owner of Ambassador Bridge met Trump official hours before Gordie Howe Bridge post: NYT report
By
CTVNews.ca Staff
Updated: February 10, 2026 at 8:23PM ESTAfter a direct call between Prime Minister Mark Carney and U.S. President Donald Trump, attention is now turning to what comes next for the Gordie Howe International Bridge.
Carney said he told Trump that Canada paid “over $4 billion” for the bridge’s construction, and that ownership is shared with the state of Michigan, calling the project a “great example of co-operation” between the two countries.
Meanwhile, the New York Times reported that the Detroit-based billionaire owner of the Ambassador Bridge met with a White House official just hours before Trump posted his threat to halt the opening of the Gordie Howe Bridge.
Also, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is pushing back against the president’s social media threats, saying the Gordie Howe Bridge was made with “union labour” on both sides of the Canada-U.S. border.
Matthew Moroun, whose family has operated the Ambassador Bridge connecting Windsor, Ont., and Detroit, Mich., for decades, met with U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick just hours before U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to block the opening of the nearby Gordie Howe International Bridge, the New York Times reported Tuesday.
Sources told The Times that Lutnick spoke with Trump by phone about the matter after the meeting with Moroun. The president would post his threats about not allowing the bridge to open just before 6 p.m. ET on Monday.
The Moroun family has made numerous efforts to stop the construction of another bridge between Windsor and Detroit. Matthew’s father, Manuel “Matty” Moroun, who died in 2020, publicly appealed to Trump during his first term in 2018 to revoke a presidential permit that former U.S. president Barack Obama granted to greenlight construction of the Gordie Howe Bridge.
