“You all here say Trump is guilty of it all. Just. Like. That.”

i’ve never said such a thing. i have consistently maintained the evil is timeless, regardless of the office holder.

    I DEMAND AN APOLOGY!”

When in doubt, apply universal solvent.

    Deconstruction, equivocation.

Apparently nothing is better or worse than anything else (except some evils are more equal than others)

I’d expect if this were true, you’d rail against the waste of changing systems. Since systems are of equal value and remain so, timelessly, the great evil to fight would be the monumental cost and waste created by people trying to change to a different (same, actually) system.

All they’re doing is wasting that most precious commodity, time, burning off energy, resources, thought, time, effort that would otherwise be available to humans for meaningful purposes.

“There’s No Nothing”: Empty Shelves, Rotten Odors Plague Gov’t-Funded Supermarket In Missouri
    https://www.zerohedge.com/food/theres-no-nothing-empty-shelves-rotten-odors-plague-govt-funded-supermarket-missouri

One of the dozen or so socialist policy proposals from NYC Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani is the creation of government-funded grocery stores.

Nowhere is this more evident than in East Kansas City, where a nonprofit operates a grocery store on government land that has become a symbol of failure, plagued by the smell of rot and empty shelves.

How can we explain this shocking failure?

    1. Not enough people believed in it
    2. Saboteurs and secret counter-revolutionary anti grocery assholes ruined it
    3. It wouldn’t work unless ALL grocery stores everywhere were under the same program, but THEN it will work best-evar
    4. Looks like what we need is slave labor to make this work, but we can use those saboteurs and people who didn’t believe as the slaves. Then we can backfill with anybody once we start running out.
    5. It was never real socialism.

    Earth-to-earth starship

Other than the “cool!” factor, do we *need* to be able to travel from one city to another that rapidly? In most cases, the resources expended likely outweigh the advantage of quick travel. For example, if I am traveling to my family’s biennial reunion I drive, even when it is two states away. My spouse doesn’t like driving more than 8 hours in a day, so we break it up into two days of travel. We can, for the purpose of the thought experiment, assume that resources = dollars. One option would be for five people to purchase airfare from Phoenix to a major city nearer to the destination, then a tiny plane to a small airport nearer to the timeshare hotel, then rent a vehicle for the five days of the reunion, and the cost to return the same way. We don’t do this — it would be prohibitively costly. Instead, we spend two days up, two days return, with motel stays sandwiched for the in between night, and we have our vehicle for use while there. One could say that, sure, that is just because your income is low. That is true, however, I have two siblings with family incomes of six figures, who often take their families places by plane, and they also drive for the reunions. Even for the higher income families, the resources expended for the plane outweighs the drive time. The Starship requires a fancy tower and landing pad be built at every landing/take-off location. The G-forces that the body endures in such a journey would be intense — not everyone would be physically suited to such travel. Additionally, most face-to-face transactions can be completed with videoconferencing. Many would try a Starship journey once, just to experience it and to say that they have done it…but that does not require travel — it could be accomplished by going up, circumnavigating the globe, and returning to the same point.

We are social creatures, meaning that we derive our purpose for living through our interaction with others.

Now I know that people say and feel otherwise much of the time, and even start thinking that serving themselves is the best or only way to go. But at the end of the day they will find that it simply is not so.

We social creatures do, indeed, need other people to respond to us in some way, otherwise we can’t even validate the reality of our own existence. This isn’t speculative rhetoric. It’s a clinical fact that has been proven many times, under rigorous scientific protocols that a human being placed in utter isolation from human contact will become seriously mentally incapacitated within days. The interaction is necessary, not optional. Isolated people go crazy.

We are social creatures, so the better that we get along with one another then the better off we will be. This goes for everybody, not just or only ourselves. The better that a person interacts with the people around them then the better that persons life will be, from their own perspective as well as ours.

It’s not really possible to argue truthfully against that fact. It’s a just a fact. There’s no other way around it that I can see, and so the inescapable conclusion (and I really do mean inescapable) is that we better start learning how to get along with each other better than we have been, because there really isn’t any other game in town.

    Seriously!

Those other people (over there somewhere, or right in our face) who are giving us so much trouble (like real trouble, for each of us, personally) are not going to stop being that much trouble until they learn how to get along better with us and we learn how to get along better with them.

See what I mean? It is not ever going to stop being bad (or worse) until we do something about getting along better with each other. That may seem to be more than a little way too obvious until you consider that, well if it’s so damned obvious then why isn’t anybody doing anything about it except getting along even worse by fighting over it?

Even as we speak, tragically enormous numbers of people are being killed for no other reason than the fact that they aren’t able to get along with each other any better than that.

You can either learn how to get along better or you can go on fighting it out. Your call.

so many stuck in the past..

Your giant-collared polyester shirt is showing, boomer.

Calling people old-fashioned as an instant shorthand to shut people up in a college dorm room bull session in 1973 because they’re afraid of looking not-current (such policing always going left, cosmic coincidence) doesn’t work now.

It’s like you’re driving up in a Mazda Miata current year in Fort Lauderdale trying to pick up spring breaker coeds using supercool catchphrases like “groovy” and then bringing out the big guns with “like gag me with a spoon”

Boomers, policing each other and their parents and grandparents, now on death’s doorstep, still fighting “the man” as being un-hip, un-current, like, stuck in the past, but it’s their children and grandchildren now.

Not to mention, you’re calling “stuck in the past” on a failed socialist grocery store happening right NOW and as an example of the failed grocery stores coming up in the near future. Ergo, the past.

so, ¿if governments can’t run grocery stores, ¿¿why can they run fire departments??

Thank you for confirming that, while nothing is better than anything else, (only when certain things need to be taken down a peg) ….at other times, some things ARE more equal than others.

Always going one way – always.

so, ¿if governments can’t run grocery stores, ¿¿why can they run fire departments??

also, this is just classic meatsuiting.

You never bothered to prove that fire departments are always socialist or that government equals socialism. These are things you do not own. (understood these are the things you WANT to own…) You have not constructed any successful argument to the contrary.

You need to back up and prove these things before you make your argument or it is just observable idiocy that weakens instead of strengthens you.

The monster wearing the flesh of the thing you liked “I am that thing you love” outstretched arms “come give us a kiss”

Firefighting precedes socialism by many thousands of years. BUT if we pretend for you, for the sake of argument, that these things ARE ackshully socialism, your thing…

Do you not feel even a twinge of doubt grow, when, after innumerable pointing to things that work, things that humans have done for hundreds or thousands of years, saying “This is ours. We are that thing you love. That thing you love is ackshully socialism. Now kneel before zod”

Why does socialism never do ackshully-socialism and succeed? With so much identifiable ackshull successful socialism everywhere??? “Firefighting departments are socialism, firefighting departments succeed you mccarthyist so why don’t you like socialism?”

…doing all these successful things that are ackshully socialism ought to lead to successful socialism???? Why the extreme failure since inception of socialism in the old-fashioned, stuck-in-the-past 1800’s?

If you slap a dismissive label on someone that you disagree with and thereafter use that label as a reason to dismiss everything that they say, because they’re just a ___ [ insert “label” here]___ and therefore not worth listening to, then you’re not going to hear what they have to say, and they are going to become very quickly and vehemently upset with you. You also won’t know what the fuck they’re so upset about and will therefore have no clue about what you need to do to fix it.

Just sayin’, you “Boomer Blamers”. Speak. I’m listening. And I also have a few things to say.

If you’re a Boomer, then you recognize the lazy, content-less short-cut he was trying to pull better than me!

You, unlike him, have the dignity to not try the same posturing, the same disingenuous short-cuts. Based on what you’ve brought to the table for years, consistently, YOU are a good faith actor.

And I believe you’d have the insight to see that time has passed, things have happened – that even on a purely pragmatic basis, the same cheats that worked 50 years ago cannot work today.

The absurdity of someone being stuck in the past using “stuck in the past” as sort of a generational standing wave remains.

What many (okay, most] Boomers are still partially aware of (and which later-born persons are virtually completely unaware) is that there used to be a culture here which worked as well as we could manage (mixed results), and which is now almost completely NOT here.

The transfer of culture and the hard learned lessons of countless generations of ordinary people, was not passed down from one generation to the next well enough that they could pass it along (with refinements, hopefully), and so on down the line.

Call it “lost technology”. Once it is skipped and not transferred then it is lost forever because the ensuing generation is left ignorant of it having ever existed. Like how to pass culture and wisdom (such as it is) on to the next generation.

Fatal error, and we are living the price.

You’re such a miserable shit, kultsommer.

The reason my father came from a working class childhood:

The family had to scrape their way back up from nothing after the socialists took away everything, killed a bunch of them, and made the rest flee. Then genocided the ones who remained. They were simple pacifist Mennonite farmers who posed no threat to them, but they did not care.

Had they not suckered the family into coming back with the New Economic Policy (guys, trust us, we’re not crazy… yes they were) the family wouldn’t have had to scrape back up from nothing TWICE. Because they had to escape twice. And enough died in this process that it was almost a new group of people escaping the second time.

The marriage of my mother’s sister in the late 70s did not, through reverse-causation, influence my father becoming a doctor as a working class person in the 60’s. You retarded, filthy, mean-spirited commie.

Would you please be so kind as to stop hanging that ridiculously false label on me? It makes my brain hurt just trying to figure out how you arrived at that totally bass-ackwards conclusion. Was it because I objected to you using a one-size-fits-all criticism that all Jews are as bad as Netanyahu and his Zionist brethren? Holy smokes, Doc! That’s just plain nuts. You’re saying that just because a lot of Jews (and Satanists deceitfully posing as Jews) are really really super bad, that ALL or most Jews are equally bad? How lazy is that, Doc? And how dangerously and harmfully WRONG to a bunch of totally innocent people. It’s the same as what Israel’s ruling class is doing to the Palestinians, and not one bit different.

    P.S.
And while I’m venting, who the hell is this “miker” guy you keep obscurely insulting? We’re supposed to know who you’re talking about by ESP telepathy or something? If you don’t like this “miker” character, then why not just call him out by name?
