Iran missiles fired towards UK military bases in Cyprus, defence minister claims

Two missiles from Iran were fired in the direction of Cyprus, where the UK has military bases, the defence secretary has claimed.John Healey said the government did not believe they were targeting the bases intentionally, but said “it shows how indiscriminate” the Iranian retaliation to Saturday’s US-Israel strikes was.
But the presidents of the Republic of Cyprus and the unrecognised Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) have both questioned the claim and criticised Mr Healey for making statements without the full facts.
Mr Healey also said that 300 UK military personnel were close to targets that were hit in Bahrain.
Mr Healey told Sky News’s Sunday Morning With Trevor Phillips programme: “This is a really serious and deteriorating situation, (with) rising risks of increasing Iranian indiscriminate retaliatory attacks.
US President Donald Trump said US forces sank nine Iranian naval ships and destroyed Iran’s naval headquarters. Iran’s missile and drone attacks escalated across Israel and the Gulf region, raising fears of wider unrest.
He also announced that US forces had destroyed Iran’s naval headquarters in a separate attack.
Trump’s post came shortly after an update by United States Central Command, which said that an Iranian Jamaran-class corvette was struck by US forces while docked at a pier in Chabahar.
According to the statement, the vessel is currently sinking into the Gulf of Oman. US Central Command did not provide further operational details but confirmed the strike and reiterated its call for Iranian forces to lay down their weapons.

Opening Asian markets have pushed up oil and gold prices, but not enough to tip anybody off that there is war going on in the Middle East.

Market wachers probably have noticed that US/British/French soldiers have merely been moved off their military Middle East bases into the surrounding areas.

Bunkers Under Gaza Hospital Were Built by Israel, Former Israel PM Says
Israeli officials have claimed that the tunnels are Hamas military command centers as Israeli forces raided al-Shifa hospital.
“Former prime minister of Israel Ehud Barak acknowledged in an interview on Monday that the bunkers underneath al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza that have been continually propped up by the Israeli military as a reason that they needed to bomb and raid the facility were actually built by Israel.”
When asked, “when you say it was built by Israeli engineers, did you misspeak?”
“No, no,” Barak replied. “Decades ago, we were running the place so we … helped them to build these bunkers in order to enable more space for the operation of the hospital within the very limited size of this compound.”
“Okay, that’s sort of thrown me a little bit. So these were there for a long, long time, but you’re claiming, or they’re claiming, that they’re used as a major command center. Anyway, the fact of the matter is, as yet, they have not shown conclusive proof of that,” Amanpour responded.
Israeli officials have indeed spent the last weeks circulating claims, repeated by western media outlets and government officials, on the tunnels supposedly being used as Hamas command centers as justification for attacking the hospital.
Weeks ago, while al-Shifa, the largest hospital in the Gaza strip, was still somewhat functional, the Israeli government posted an animated video purportedly showing the vast network of Hamas tunnels underneath the hospital — claims that were repeated by western news outlets alongside reporting of the horrific conditions that Palestinians were facing under Israeli bombardment.
The Israeli government continued repeating similar messages as it bombed the hospital and starved it of fuel and electricity, ultimately culminating in Israeli troops raiding the hospital after it lost power due to a fuel shortage last week.
According to accounts from hospital workers and the Palestinian health ministry, the raid has had devastating consequences, with staff struggling to keep patients, including newborn babies, alive, as Israeli forces stripped and arrested civilians and hospital staff, exhumed graves in the hospital yard and forced doctors and patients to evacuate at gunpoint.

Iran targets USS Abraham Lincoln ‘with ballistic missiles’ as brutal war escalates

Iran has claimed to have struck the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier as Tehran launches strikes against US military assets. In a statement carried by Iranian state media, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said four ballistic missiles were fired at the US Navy aircraft carrier in waters near the Gulf region.
The strike was described as part of what Tehran has dubbed “Operation True Promise-4,” a broader military campaign targeting American and Israeli assets. The Guards said in a statement shared by local media: “The US aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln was struck by four ballistic missiles.” They said “the land and sea will increasingly become the graveyard of the terrorist aggressors.”
The US Central Command, which is responsible for operations in the region, has denied the claims, saying they are a “lie” and that the Iranian missiles “didn’t even come close.” It comes as Trump is caught on a hot mic making a chilling threat that could spark WW3.
