Okay, thinking: root principles, WHY am I of all people looking at markets? I say daily they are unhinged and not related to human happiness. I think it’s because as a predictive element, they remain very sound, so long as you don’t try to wring specific digits out of them. (Trend following). They are the aggregate of world saying “Does this enlarge human prosperity or does it hinder it?” The Market is saying this war is of no consequence, which is very odd, as obviously it should be on several levels. And you can call that “The Wisdom of Crowds” sure. But there’s something more important: “The Market” (or at this point) is made of not the people reacting, but of the hyper-wealthy people DIRECTING what happens in Iran. They are the same funds like Bessant, BlackRock, that call their Senator or Prime Minister on the phone and MAKE them act. It’s not one-way and the two are roughly equal in daily power, but that means the Market – those rich jokers – who have the top intel and know what Generals and Parliaments are really up to – are not alarmed and think things will work out shortly.
You’re following the headlines of a bunch of liars, and people who in the fog of war have no idea what was hit or how hard. You have no idea what’s happening inside Iran nor what was happening inside it last year either. You’re reacting to known liars getting up in front of a podium and telling known lies, presuming it’s true and they believe anything they say, when they are not under oath and have no risk whatsoever. But thousands more people die over many more decades than just taking your lumps.
