I not only apologize for them, I formally retract them. Believing in the veracity of an idea strongly enough to take an unambiguous position is neither wrong nor cowardly. Not absolutely certain, but pretty darned probable.
Now, about those magi guys.
My comments on the Magi were, in fact, quite eruditely knowledgeable (decades of study) , so for you to find them ridiculous is going to shine the lime-light on you for not knowing enough history, archaeology and sciency stuff to counter my statement with facts. You had to fall back on mere refutation and ridicule (the last defensive ditch for the ignorant.) Careful of the back foot that you’re resting your balance on, because you have run out of room to back up any further.
Scoundrels (and I’m speaking of the magi) are adept at re-branding and swapping labels around to confuse the posse that is always chasing them as a consequence of their crime spree, but one of the hardest things to hide is linguistics.
We humans drag our linguistically proven history around behind us like a smelly pedigree. How we communicate twixt each other is a testimony of what we believe and who told us so, and that lays a trail of what we think we want and how to get it. Better than DNA in other crucial ways, too, but the main point is that and individuals linguistic patterns are nearly impossible to conceal and even harder to change. Liars lie because they can’t help it. It’s the only thing they know how to do well enough to survive.

I followed your link to Matt Ehret’s The Hidden Hand Behind UFOs Ep. 4 (Roswell and the Birth of a New Legend) video and watched several minutes, then read the comments to get an overview of feedback. It’s getting late here, but I feel a response is needed. Here are my thoughts:
First, I understand how difficult it is to make heads or tails out of current events and life in general. It’s no easy task, and by the time we start getting the lay of the land it’s time to check out. We don’t live long enough to gain much wisdom, unless life gives us a crash course. My best advice for anyone attempting to sort truth from error is to start by cleaning the instrument, which is you. Tear yourself apart from top to bottom, letting nothing hide. William Blake wrote, “the eye that alters, alters all.” He knew of what he spoke. The cleaner the instrument, the better the sight. The better the sight, the easier it is to sort fact from fiction, truth from error.
That said, my impression of Matt is that he got his varsity letter in debate club. He’s a performer who is still wet behind the ears in life. He has his hands in multiple exotic disciplines from which he weaves stories to entertain his audience, but has no real depth of understanding or wisdom. To the untrained ear his explanations are fascinating and compelling, but he is just another of the many false prophets that lead people astray and dazzle the gullible.
I was reminded of the self-help guru, Wayne Dyer, that did a lot of programs for PBS years ago. My mother used to adore him and loved to listen to his motivational lectures, but I could only handle about five minutes of his blather. He pulled interesting tidbits from various spiritual disciplines and wove them together into a lecture. It seemed like talk, talk, talk, without any personal realization. There was no connection to the heart. I was never moved. My soul untouched.
It seems that there are so many today that don’t know what to believe anymore. I feel for them. And the information warfare is only growing more intense. The internet has become a hall of mirrors. Unless, one is well grounded and has clear sight you’ll get lost in the maze.

Yes, this is the typical case. Perhaps it would have been better if I took a different approach to the point I was attempting to make: that a true master is protected from the onslaught of unprepared seekers who would only waste his time, by the army of false teachers who peel off the seekers one by one.
Like I’ve said before, no one is unnoticed or falls through the cracks. We are all carefully assessed along the way, and the master is aware of our approach long before we meet, often helping to prepare the student without his knowledge. That said, we must also recognize that the student exerts a magnetic pull upon the master too by his strong desire for enlightenment.
Using Star Wars again as our example, while searching for Yoda on Dagobah, Luke dismissed the very master he was looking for because of preconceived notions (and a little trickery on Yoda’s part). When Yoda finally tipped his hand and revealed himself, we learn that he already knew Luke well and had been watching all his follies over the years. Therefore, he was hesitant to take him on as a student.
