John Helmer has an extensive review of a Russian national survey in depth and detail, notably inquiring into views on the management of the war in Ukraine. Putin’s support percentages in many sub demographics are well laid out, and his overall support for his cautious Ukraine war policy, being careful to avoid traps for nuclear war provocations, are about 80% supported, the same as his overall support rating. There were a lot of speculations that Russians supported his war management less, and certain specific demographics do. It is an instructive read. A sample is excerpted. As part of the September poll, a survey experiment — already conducted by Levada several times before — was again repeated. With the help of a random number generator, the survey participants were divided into two equal groups, each of which was asked the question in one of the two formulations. In the first case, respondents were asked to say whether they would or would not support the President’s decision to end the military conflict immediately without any conditions. In the second case, the respondents were asked to answer whether they would support or not support the same decision, but if the condition is that the Novorossiya territories are returned.
The majority of respondents — 80%, this has grown by 18 percentage points since May 2023 — would support the decision of Putin if “this week” he decided to end the military conflict with Ukraine. However, if “this week” Putin decided to end the conflict on the condition that the annexed territories are returned, then his decision would be supported by a significantly smaller number of Russians – a third of the respondents; that is to say 33%, an increase of 5 percentage points since February 2025.
More often than not, the President would be supported in the decision to end the military conflict this week by women (84%); young people under 25 (93%); those who believe that things in the country are on the wrong track (88%); those who approve of Putin’s performance as president (84%); those who trust social networks and telegram channels as sources of information (89% each); those who support the activities of the Russian military in Ukraine (97%); and those who believe that military action should continue now (95%).

This bridging loan, which the Europeans want to give to Ukraine, what is it all about? It’s to keep the Ukrainians in play for three years, or four years. Why three or four years? Look at the rest of the program. They are spending now hundreds of billions of euros to build up, to bulk up Europe’s military production.
Germany is a leader in this with a one trillion euro debt that’s taking out mostly for the purpose of building out its armed forces and for, as Mr Merz said openly, to make Germany the biggest defender he calls it, let’s call it by the real name, the biggest military force in Western Europe. That will be ready for when? For 2029. Merz has said that the Russians will attack in 2029.
Let’s speak not more Orwellian language, but real language. He means that he will attack Russia in 2029. And if he builds out the army as he plans, you know, Europe could just win. This is not my opinion, but again, experts on Russian state television are saying, not that the Germans will win, but they’re saying that German industry should not be disparaged. German industry is quite serious, and if money is put into it, you know, they can build good arms.
So the situation is not a six-month perspective. The situation that Europe is looking at is a four-year perspective. And you know something? It can work like that. And that is precisely why I’ve changed my mind about the wisdom of the “go slow, don’t rock the boat, don’t challenge the West too much” policy of Putin. What we’re talking about is the consequence of exchange of strikes by Russia and Ukraine against the energy infrastructure of the other side. In our news, Western news, they speak only about Ukraine’s strikes on the Russian infrastructure. In the Russian news, they speak only about their own strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure.
And it’s understandable that the broad public does not have any sense of the sequence here. Who did what to whom when, and what was an action, and what was proactive, and what was reactive? From my following this, I would like to call out that the latest Ukrainian remarks on what they have to import, or on how Russia has now lost its refinery capacity, 30, 50 percent or more of Russian production and refining has been stopped. The Russians are importing gasoline and so forth. As typically, the Ukrainians are projecting onto the Russians what is happening in Ukraine. Ukraine is importing, Russia is not importing anything in this regard.
However, the Russians have had serious losses of refining capacity and of other energy infrastructure due to Ukrainian strikes. And some of those strikes were directed by Americans. Let’s be quite open about this. It isn’t discussed in media, but it is known that the most recent strikes by Ukraine on Russian gas and oil infrastructure [were] using HIMARS, and it was Americans who were directing those HIMARS.
This is a very serious escalation. The damage was considerable. In Russian news you hear nothing about the extensive destruction of their energy infrastructure by Ukrainian attacks. What you do here, and this is mostly in social media, is in this region or that region there is a shortage of fuel. Now, when this comes to a discussion, public discussion, the Russian patriots will tell you, “Ah, this is the season of the harvest. The diesel fuel and other fuel is in short supply for that reason.”
Rubbish. It’s in short supply because refineries were struck. The issue is very serious. And the Russian response was also serious. They’ve had in the last few days massive attacks by missiles and drones on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure across the country. Hamas has not agreed to any demilitarization or destruction of its tunnels. There is no way to demilitarize Gaza and neutralize Hamas of its weapons against their will without continued warfare, something Israel has demonstrated it cannot do without killing shocking numbers of civilians.

What’s taking place with demand for physical delivery, is putting a lot of these “paper” silver companies in a squeeze. What happens when they run out of actual metal to ship to people who are demanding it?
Most of these “paper” silver contracts, have an escape clause: “In the event of shortage of metal, the claim can be settled in cash.” So people who THINK they “own” silver which is simply being held by someone else, safely, in a vault, suddenly find out they don’t “own” it at all and the “vault” . . . . . . is empty. Delivery doesn’t come. So they demand to be paid, and then the squeeze is REALLY “on” for those companies. That is where things are heading as of Friday.

Despite any good intentions one might have, we need to use some common sense to avoid getting drawn into disreputable web hosting and potential security issues.
Speaking of those issues, perhaps by now some of the community might have noticed that TAE sometimes throws up https warnings? This is likely something in the WordPress code that can happen when a particular user logs in and some script is activated on the website. It can also be done remotely, by hackers or government agencies who want to know more about IP addresses and geographic of users of the site. Just so you know, if you are greeted by a message that TAE does not support https, just go to any search engine (duckduckgo, start page, brave etc) and search for the site through the index. You can then continue to read/log in using https that way.

OH- is NOT a gas, it is the hydroxyl ION. It is NOT a “by product of water”. It results from, most easily understandably, from common household bleach being diluted.

That had almost the same address as your site, (its domain is dot store instead of dot com so I confused the two)
The site just looks like it needs to enable https. Looking forward to seeing some artwork going up there soon.

1. Theroboticearth.com is a domain I purchased, I think, last week. It came with various TLDs like .store, .info. I have not set up a website yet… this will happen soon
2. Re my buggering up Org Chem 101, I took that paper in 1996 and got if I recall correctly a B+. Math was my thing… A- 2nd year Calculus
Then in 1997 I took Comp Sci 101, at the end of that semester I was full time at a NZ software development company. I did not complete my degree as by the start of my 3rd year I was flying to USA regularly to install the software on large manufacturing sites networks (Kawneer?, Alcoa. Traco… you name a big aluminum fenestration company in 1997 to 2001 I was onsite for weeks at a time..)
