It’s not just a matter of the website but the fact you’ve already had more than enough problems this year. You’re at the head of the line for a major break.Ilargi, please allow me to suggest that you find some nearby teen-aged hot-shot to redesign your whole website to modern standards. WordPress is rather a dinosaur. Present it as a developmental challenge for the kid. Not just development of a website but of the kid’s talents and maybe even the kid him(her)self. Get a local school’s computer club to make a project of it, and then provide maintenance ongoing. Talk with your local secondary school or college. They might even bring in younger-generation perspectives to (warily) rebalance the generally-geriatric mindsets and world-views so prevalent here. Perhaps it is time for you to recalibrate your mission in some self-kindly way, and kick yourself upstairs so you are relieved of the overhead hassles and can focus on content instead of your physical infirmities and draining computer-bullshit irritants. Plus, in these screen-addicted times, setting up face-to-face encounters between real live human beings (especially the young) is a blessing and an act of generosity and grace. Just sayin’..

I believe that Martin Armstrong’s site armstrongeconomics dot com is a WordPress site. No need to go for anything fancy. One of the issues that comes up with web hosting is data storage costs. In order to keep archives running, data gets used and even with HTML, jpegs and gifs, these eventually take up quite a bit of storage space, esp if one has run a site for any substantial period of time.

Last week, according to the New York Times, the Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro was reported to have tried to head off President Donald Trump’s escalation to frontal military attack on Venezuela and regime change in Caracas by offering “a dominant stake in Venezuela’s oil and other mineral wealth in discussions that lasted for months, according to multiple people close to the talks.” Reportedly, Maduro’s terms included: “all existing and future oil and gold projects to American companies, give preferential contracts to American businesses, reverse the flow of Venezuelan oil exports from China to the United States, and slash his country’s energy and mining contracts with Chinese, Iranian and Russian firms.”
If Maduro did that, Russian sources concede hypothetically, it would amount to his revocation of Article 6 and Article 10 of the “Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on Strategic Partnership and Cooperation”.
The first provision of the treaty calls for “joint initiatives within the framework of OPEC+, the Forum of Gas Exporting Countries and other multilateral organizations, [to] promote balanced and stable long–term development of global energy markets without using artificial restrictions and unfair competition tools”. The second proposed to “cooperate in the energy sector in such areas as the exploration and development of new oil and natural gas fields, increasing the returns of fields operated by joint ventures and reducing their environmental impact.”
Maduro signed the instrument of treaty ratification in front of the Russian Ambassador to Venezuela on October 7. But that was several days after Maduro had been told the Trump Administration had rejected his scheme to replace the Russian oil companies with American ones, and had cancelled negotiations on Maduro’s term sheet led by Richard Grenell...

Today the Chinese government reacted to the Dutch raid of the Chinese owned company by cutting it off from Chinese technologies and products:
Chipmaker Nexperia, a subsidiary of China’s Wingtech Technology and a major supplier of mature chips for the automotive and consumer electronics sectors, announced on Tuesday that it has been banned by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce from exporting products made in China, including those produced by its subcontractors, after the Dutch government took over the company using a Cold-War-era law to secure Europe’s chip supply.
Nexperia said it is seeking an exemption from the export ban, which could affect Dutch access to its chips. The company operates an 80,000-square-meter assembly site in Guangdong province near Hong Kong, as well as fabrication, assembly, and testing facilities in Germany, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Britain.
If the Dutch government does not retract its decision to practically confiscate Nexperia the company will die. Its business is globalized. Parts of its products are made all over the world. Its products and sales in Europe depend on subcontractor products which are made in China.
The company is important to Europe. It produces some 90 billion bread and butter components per year which flow into other higher value European products. Sure, other Chinese companies will be happy to replace those parts. But where is the win for the Netherlands or Europe in that?
In the trade war between U.S. and China Europe should have stayed neutral.
