Some people might challenge my statement that Internet “outages” cause human deaths.
To them I say, I am under no obligation to prove the veracity of patently obvious facts. If I say, “My goodness! The sun is beautiful today, and the sky so blue!” I don’t have to document it with the evidence that you’re looking straight at with your very own “Baby Blues”.
When the network which the world runs on stops working for a few hundred million people all at once in an entire region, then there ARE human fatalities as a DIRECT consequence (indirect consequences also count, but that’s a separate conversation.)
THAT is the kind of network we should pin the world’s hope of survival upon? Say, you wouldn’t be interested in buying a nice bridge between Manhattan and Brooklyn, would you?
The life, times and works of the ancient Nazarene, Yeshua (translated to Greek and Latin as Jesus) are easily and by far the most closely and deeply studied as any other topic in the known history of Earth.
Nevertheless, controversy continues.
And yet despite the many highly contentious arguments about what did or did not transpire there are a few things, at least, upon which virtually 100% of all students and teachers agree upon which are NOT inquestion.
The man existed, he preached certain things, and the Romans and Jewish hierarchy executed him for it.
So what did he say, basically? He said that he was the living God and that the only way to evade death was by following his advices about a) acknowledging God as the Creator of everything, b) Loving God, Loving each other and treating each other the same way they would treat Him, and want to be treated themselves, and lastly (but not least by any means) that He was the ONLY way to evade death and live happily forever.
If you do not already believe that to be the case then I have only one thing to say to you about that. Review the evidence and take another look at your conclusions. You might get pleasantly surprised.

DBS what you wrote about the novelty of TAE is really important. Thank you. Can we do anything to support “it”? Does Patreon or Paypal still accept money? Also, where is the group called TAE these days?
I suppose that someone with technical skills (or serious determination) could do a forensic analysis of the TAE site that’s reachable on-line, and some standard sleuthing of usernames and personal information divulged over time, and MAYBE come up with a means of preserving the forum’s online presence and functionality, but that seems to me like a LOT of work to invest in a VERY long shot.

Subtracting 197446 (the first reply number of this Oct 14th post) from 209264 (the last reply as I write), gives 11818 replies for that day. The number given is 1818 (accurate, I think).

I hope that I’ll still be around this coming spring.My assessment of Gilbert Doctorow is that the folks he trusts as sources of information about Russian strengths and weaknesses both on the battlefield and world markets, think that Russia isn’t winning. Doctorow (and both the people he listens to and thus the people who he advises) still do think that Russia can be defeated (or at least be pushed back to former borders) in this huge contest presently involving and enveloping the entire world.
He thinks that the United States and the Great Western Empire that THINKS it runs the world, is negotiating from a position of strength. Well, they’re not. They’re LOSING, and the sooner that they wake up to that demonstrably true fact then the sooner thing can settle back into their “normal” state of ordinary treachery and the rest of us “normal” folk can all get back to and on with our normal lives.
I think that Doctorow (etc) are catastrophically mistaken, but we needn’t wait to see which side is right. It’s being DEMONSTRATED as we speak. No need to call the outcome early unless you have your own skin in the game. Everyone else can just get on with their intended and necessary business, because things are going to be the way things are going to be, and you might as well deal with that because you don’t have any other choice. In other words, we all SHALL deal with it.

I follow him closely, but he gets a lot of flak for being an outlier, doing his own analysis. What he sees is that Russia is winning, but is frustrated at many levels that this war is not yet concluded, and many Russians, stratified by wealth and education, etc. would like it concluded, preferably without a big push in many cases, but the cry for a big push is rising.
Putin is adept, and balances the western-liberal Russians against this. They remain considerable, but are keeping a lower profile lately.
Doctorow has quit saying that he thinks the war will end this winter, and says the Ukrainian military keeps having the will to fight and die, which is primary, as is western funding and supply.
He stated fairly regulalry that Russia is “winning”, compares prisoner-exchange and casualty numbers, ground advances, and the rapidity with which Ukrainian forces are now relinquishing positions.What we don’t see is the secret negotiations between the US and Russia. The corruption-scandal is an off-ramp for the current regime, but the transition must be arranged through secret negotiations, which are complicated…
