In July, Ukraine avoided defaulting on $20 billion in loans by reaching a preliminary agreement with private creditors.Given the financial burden of war, the country suspended interest payments on international debt over the last two years, which was set to expire on August 1, 2024.
Without this new debt restructuring, this default would have ranked among the 10 largest in recent history. The last time Ukraine defaulted on its debt was in 2015, after Russia’s invasion of Crimea.

I can see from your legacy of Duh’merica posts (which I enjoy) that you know that the USA cannot be fixed. Nobody is going to make things better. For example, Trump comes in, sticks it to the Chinese with tarrifs and suddenly inflation is through the roof and blah blah … tarrifs being an internal tax on people who would buy foreign products, but what is the alternative, buying iphones for 4000 USD a piece? Same for all the other candidates’ policies, there is nothing there to fix anything, just kick that can down the road.
If the candidate could really save America but his price was 100,000 Palestinian lives, then you have got some sort of arrangement you can consider. As it stands, they all want the Palestinian lives but are controlled by Israel first.
I would abstain on the basis that I am not willing to kill 100,000 Palestinians just to polish the ego of some politician who will not do anything for me once elected. As I have agency, I sould use it to abstain the vote.
To fix America you would need a candidate who could unite both halves of the country. At the moment the country has two groups who support different visions for the future of their country, two groups who cannot stand each other and think the other group is insane. None of the candidates can fix that, they all stink on the unity front, so there are no good candidates.
Given the state of the US, you would need a real leader to make a difference and there are no real leaders in America, not among the oligarchs, such as Trump, Musk, Bezos, Gates, Zuckaberg etc etc, and not among the military, such as that man who dresses as a woman, the big black guys, Milley or any of the others. America will wander around leaderless until it crashes.

Amen to that. In fact, a lot of the US government corruption could be halted in the same way.
China had Mao who grabbed China by the balls and dragged it into a new era. Mao was not a unity candidate, he started a civil war and as a result millions died. Anything other than a unity candidate will result in the gradual decline of the country or a civil war with many grudges settled, as happened in China.
China came good in the end, but it took many generations and they still live with the repercusions, the division of their country, with the losing team still hiding out in Taiwan under the protection of the USA, a legacy from the cold war.
The USA would be lucky to stagnate like Japan has, but America does not have the unity, the common culture, etc etc to be so disciplined in decline. The USA could never do a Japan, it would be beyond the abilities of the people in the USA. The USA would just crash with neighbours preying on each other.
Anyway, the progressives want a communist USA while the conservatives want the old traditional USA back. The only unity is that they are all equally greedy, so they all suck up to the rich Jews. Maybe a Jew would be a unity candidate? Netanyahu? He could genocide all the people who do not want to unite.
Yup, we all better give up now and stop trying. That’s of course the moral and sensible decision.
