This is one incredibly inspiring video. Thank you so much for posting it.
A couple of months ago, one of my neighbors sent out an invite to many of us to join her and her husband for Soup Night. The idea is for the guests to bring their own soup bowls and spoons, and the hosts provide the soup. The venue changes monthly. It’s a great way to get to know your neighbors and form strong bonds, but I can see from what your friend has done that far greater opportunities await us. I’ve forwarded the video to others in my network, and the response is very positive.
One thing, though: I was curious about the Living Smart program Shani references. Apparently it is only in Australia, but I’m intrigued by the behavior-changing model the program employs. It’s easy to say one must cut back, etc., but the missing piece to the puzzle is how to help people begin somewhere. I don’t know of anything quite like it here in the U.S.
