Walk-around and show the people how prepping is done at a nuts-and-bolts, boots-on-the-ground level. How many chickens? How many dogs? Do you electrify your fence? How much chicken waste goes into the the bio-gas fermentation chamber. How deep should the underground escape bunker be. How hi should the guard towers be above outer wall. Should the tip of the outer wall be rimmed with razor wire or electrified razor wire or all that plus a strip of broken glass. How many men will be called upon to mount the towers and ensure defense of the compound 24/7. Will requisite materials be stripped from abandoned properties and repurposed as compound assets? How will women be divided among the men. Will the alpha males dominate in a winner take all king of mountain system. Big dog has all the women until he’s knocked off the throne and then a polygamous system can be established for greater group happiness.

No. That was made impossible years ago by the attacks on TAE.

Using safari browser, one needs to reload the homepage about 3 or 4x before it’s possible to read anything. The screen goes blank after a few seconds. This process repeats every time one clicks on anything within the website (an article, comments thread, etc.).
Why not return to the previous format?
December 15, 2013 at 10:31 am #9795pjParticipantHello, I just purchased Facing the Future on my iPad, was unable to download files. So I tried to log in on my macbook pro and it won’t allow me into account.

December 15, 2013 at 10:48 pm #9823rhebaParticipantSounds as though I should order the DVD – especially as I have limited bandwidth due to satellite. I will do it tomorrow.

I get the impression that Laurence doesn’t believe that societies will break down completely, is that right? He talks of local economies and currencies, of technologies (including robots) helping us to adapt. He sees lots of activity in these areas. Does he foresee a kind of gentle powerdown (but not technology down) for everyone? I’ve been thinking in terms of crisis and ultimately a very different set of communities.
