The Women’s Communal Living Project – Australia 2012
This project is being run in the Southern Highlands of NSW, Australia, on a 5 acre fertile and sustainable farm which has a two storey mud brick, solar passive, solar powered farmhouse.
Throughout the year a diverse group of women from different backgrounds will come together for a few days or a week or more and engage in a year long ‘social experiment’ to help determine the feasibility of women living an active creative life together – learning about growing, cooking and sharing food – as an alternative to living alone.
The project is aimed at women over 50 who are, or will be, living alone and we hope to come up with some creative options for addressing some of the challenges women face as they grow older, especially housing.
