We are in the midst of a judicial coup.

Justice Roberts is also not so dumb as to not realize exactly what the Left is doing.
It’s obvious to everyone that they’re trying to jam Trump up in the red tape of a judicial bureaucratic nightmare to slow down or stop his agenda.
It doesn’t matter if every single case reaches the Supreme Court and every single case results in the Supreme Court siding with Trump.
Such a process can take months or years to adjudicate each case.
    That’s the point.
The process is the punishment, and the Left is using it as an unconstitutional veto.
They’re hoping to string Trump along until the midterms, where they hope to regain control of Congress and launch a few dozen or so impeachment proceedings against him (about which Roberts will make zero statements about the abuse of impeachment powers).

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has condemned US President Donald Trump’s new slate of tariffs, declaring that Ottawa stands ready to become the global economic leader in place of Washington.
He delivered the remarks on Thursday as he unveiled retaliatory measures for Trump’s claimed “reciprocal” tariffs, which include an additional 25% automobile industry tariff on Canada.
Ottawa has responded by tariffing all cars and vehicle content imported from the US that is not compliant with USMCA, a cornerstone free trade pact between the US, Canada, and Mexico.

I’m going WAY out the limb here to explain Trump’s “tariffs” to the gob smacked, bewildered and confused.

Tariffs are too simple for most folks to understand. They are a TAX designed to enrich the guys who impose, collect and hide behind them, at the expense of those who have to fork over their money and pay them. Simple as that.

YOU, dear reader, are on the shitty end of that stick. YOU pay them. Western Oligarchs (Brits and Yankees mostly) enjoy an absolutely GINORMOUS initial influx of freebie cash that they did not have to do anything to produce, and that cash comes straight out of your pocket when you are forced by utter physical-survival-necessity buy those goods at vastly inflated prices.

That nonsense about tariffs “driving industry and jobs back into America, is hogwash laced with cyanide because it takes DECADES for that to happen, and by the time that it does eventually happen, the same Yankee Oligarchs who took the manufacturing jobs to foreign lands in the first place (to avoid the taxes, regulations and fair wages back home) will have shifted back to their OLD way of doing business in America (tariffs and graft so high and unfair that no foreigner can even dream of competing with the high priced goods and MASSIVE bribery now being pumped out of the USA by virtual slaves under the watchful eye of Robber Barons who have an absolute LOCK on goods moving in either direction. Nothing moves until you pay your bribe.

Look, dear citizen, America’s manufacturers moved the production and jobs overseas in the first place to make bucks by TREASONOUSLY screwing you over. Now that the game is winding down they intend to TREASONOUSLY screw you over in the process of moving the production and jobs back on-shore.

Do you see a pattern in any of that?

Follow the money. It will lead you to the thieves. Track down the thieves. It will lead you to the traitors. If you’re still on for feet after getting that far, dissect the traitors. The autopsy will reveal the Evil.

Ya know all of those people in Government and Industry who look like they are not really doing their jobs?

Well, the reason that it looks that way is that they ARE doing their jobs. Their REAL jobs. The jobs that they are being paid to do by the people who hired them. Otherwise, they would have been fired and replaced with people will do what they’re paid to.

The reason that you can’t get any of them to do what YOU want them to do, or fire them, is because you aren’t the people they’re working for.

Ever wonder who they ARE working for? It’s not that hard to figure out. They are working for the folks who actually do benefit from the action (and more frequently the NON-action) of those so-called public servants.

Notice that not much has changed for the better. Notice that NEW bad shit is being done right in front of our incredulous eyes (like rape, war and genocide). Notice that no one has been arrested yet.

Do you feel like Trump’s crew is working for YOU yet?

    Pepe Escobar, Unconquerable Yemen
Ansarallah won’t back down, staring down the Empire in the Red Sea: “When American soldiers are killed in the Red Sea, what will they say to their people and families? Will they claim they were killed for the liberation of their country, or will they say they were killed to protect the Zionist terrorists?”
    Unconquerable.

    Unconquerable Yemen

Yemeni Missiles Hit US Warships! Middle East on Edge!
Pepe Escobar talks with Nima about Yemen disabling the carrier-based command, control and surveillance AWACS plane of the USS Truman battle group, an A2 Hawkeye, and the reduced activity of the group in the past few days. The USS Carl Vinson carrier battle group is now going to join it off the Yemeni coast.
Escobar had a week or so in Yemen, as above, with high and mid-level meetings. Yemen has been under attack for 10 years and is taking it in stride, sustained by spiritual morality, which would be destroyed by flinching, so they remain resolute and positive, despite 20 bombings per day, mainly on residential areas, because the US does not have good intelligence on the ground
He takes the stance that the US may actually be gearing up to obliterate Yemen, not Iran, which would still serve Zionist interests well, further isolating Iran by destroying Iran’s last intact ally in the Axis of Resistance. This is a very real concern for him.
Escobar disparages the clownlike-team-Trump, which I see as analytical weakness. Team Trump is inscrutable in some ways, but wholeheartedly pushing Israeli Zionist agendas now. He thinks Trump is trying to clear the deck in Ukraine so that he can enact Israel’s “final solution”, which is what Trump seems to be doing, and which may be the case.
He makes a strong point about Iran declaring that a major US attack would “force it to do what it does not wish to do”, make and use nuclear weapons.
(I have seen analysis that Iran would likely use such a weapon as an EMP device about 30 miles above the Israeli-Palestinian coast, to knock out Israel’s electric grid. My own understanding is that Lebanon, Jordan, Syria and Egypt could not really be spared from that attack.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iukLgeNRApU

Hamas Ready To Free All Hostages At Once For Permanent Truce https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/hamas-ready-free-all-hostages-once-permanent-truce

Gail Tverberg’s prescient analysis from December 4, 2024, the last days of “Biden”: The world economy needs to simplify
Economic growth and added complexity sound like they would be good, but at some point, the combination gets to be too much–simplification is needed.
Too much of the world’s income starts going to non-working individuals and to high-earning workers in privileged fields. Ordinary working citizens start to say, “Wait a minute, there is not enough left for my everyday expenses. The system needs to change.” Elections lead to the selection of politicians who want war, or who want to overturn the current system. The system then changes in a way that leads to less spending on healthcare and other complexities.
In this post, I will try to explain a bit of the underlying problem and give some hints at what the simplification might look like. Part of the problem is too little energy supply. This is a problem that cannot be told to the public; it would be too distressing. In this post, I present the result of a recent academic study that has attempted to recalibrate the findings of the 1972 Limits to Growth study with updated data...
..Uranium is in short supply, as well. The issue for uranium is that the world’s supply of nuclear warheads that could temporarily serve as a supplement to currently mined uranium is running short. These warheads belonged primarily to the US and to Russia, but Russia has sold a substantial amount of its warheads to the US, to be down-blended for use in nuclear power reactors...
..Without enough energy resources per person, the world will likely need to produce fewer goods and services in total. Some uses for energy products, and for the goods and services that can be made with energy products, need to disappear…
..The self-organizing economy tends to push the world in the direction of contraction. How this will work is not at all clear. Most people didn’t understand the response to Covid-19 as a way to cut back oil consumption. It is possible that future changes will, to some extent, come from cutbacks directed by government organizations that are as difficult to understand as the Covid-19 restrictions...
..The book The Limits to Growth, published in 1972, modeled when world resources would run short, relative to growing world population… The original 1972 analysis, in its base model, suggested that resources would start to run short about now. An article called, “Recalibration of limits to growth: An update of the World3 model” by Arjuna Nebel and others was published earlier this year in the Journal of Industrial Ecology. https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/jiec.13442 The summary exhibit of their findings is shown here as Figure 8.

On Figure 8, Recalibration23 is the name given to the new model output. The BAU dotted line shows the indications from the base (business as usual) 1972 model. I found the coloring a little confusing, so I added the labels “Industrial Output” and “Population” to better mark what I consider the two most important model outputs. Food Production per capita is the green line, which is also important. The calculations are all made in terms of the weight of physical quantities of materials used, for the world as a whole. The financial system is not modeled…
..I find this forecast disturbing. Industrial output per capita (which would include things like automobiles, farm machinery, and computers) is shown as already steeply declining by 2025 in the updated model. This trend is much clearer than in the 1972 model. By 2050, industrial output per capita is a small fraction of the amount it was at peak.
Food output per capita is shown to start dropping about 2025. Based on my understanding of the 1972 Limits to Growth analysis, this change might reflect a shift away from meat-eating, rather than simply fewer total calories per person.
World population follows a curve similar to that of the 1972 Limits to Growth analysis with a peak in world population at perhaps about 2030...
..Figure 8 indicates that world industrial production is expected to be the first type of output to drop. This makes sense if energy supply is quite limited or is high-priced. Without adequate inexpensive energy supply, a country is likely to cut back on manufacturing its own goods. Instead, it tries to buy from countries with less expensive sources of energy supply.
For example, US industrial production per capita has been falling since 1973. The year 1973 was the year when oil prices first spiked... A larger share of manufactured goods needed to be imported from countries with lower-cost fuel supply. Oil needed to be used sparingly because of its high cost. Coal, used heavily in Asia, was typically much cheaper...
..China took the lead in industrial production after it joined the World Trade Organization in 2001, but now it is running into obstacles… A… great deal of China’s growth was financed by debt. As long as China’s exports were growing very rapidly, this was not a problem. But as growth has slowed, China’s debt has become difficult to repay with interest... The level of conflict between China and other countries has grown…
..The world is increasingly operating in a “not enough to go around” mode for scarce resources. At the same time, countries need to somewhat get along. So we get strange narratives in the press giving rationalizations for actions by both sides, without mentioning the shortage issue.
Figure 8 shows that once industrialization drops, food production also begins to fall, but not as quickly. This makes sense because everyone recognizes that food is essential. The falling calories likely reflect people increasingly moving from meat to vegetable products.
Somehow, world population becomes poorer, but the level of population does not drop nearly as rapidly as the drop in industrialization. Simplification is likely to take place in significant steps, perhaps at the time of strange events, such as those occurring in 2020.
These are a few ways simplification might take place: [list] https://ourfiniteworld.com/2024/12/04/the-world-economy-needs-to-simplify/

President Trump Ends Duty-Free De Minimis Treatment for All Chinese Goods
Congress in 2015 … raised the de minimis threshold from $200 to $800. However, the e-commerce world exploded, and Chinese companies began using the de minimis loophole to ship cheap goods (ex. Temu and Shein) into the USA direct to consumers without paying any customs duty…The de minimis exemption has been cancelled for all products coming out of China. The rule change only targets China and Chinese shippers. No one else.
The minimum duty is $25, and the tariff rate is 30% for all products mailed from China into the USA that previously qualified under the de minimis rule.
Beyond tariffs or sector specific countervailing duties, the removal of China to use the $800 de minimis exemption will destroy their economy. There is no way for manufacturers in China, marketed into the USA, to be able to survive if they are forced to collect and organize the requirements for U.S. custom and import duties. They will simply dissolve. https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2025/04/03/president-trump-ends-duty-free-de-minimis-treatment-for-all-chinese-goods/#more-270731

Simplicius, Trump’s “Liberation Day”: Another PR Gag, or Global Reorientation Turning Point?
Many believe Trump’s grandiose vision to be too little too late, but a counterargument is that the world is now in a race to the bottom, with European nations well ahead of the pack. Trump may not rekindle an American golden age, but his bold and drastic actions will likely tighten the yoke around European vassals, ensuring American supremacy in that quarter of the world for years to come.
The big question that will remain is how competitive can America ever realistically become against China…
..Russia was not included amongst Trump’s tariffs because sanctions on Russia have resulted in little trade that can be measurably tariffed. Several outlets rebutted this explanation… If true, this would be an interesting development, as it would mean the US-Russia rapprochement is much deeper than assumed, and Trump could be banking on ingratiating himself to Russia as a way to truly turn the world on its head with an unprecedented eventual partnership between the two superpowers.
This comes amidst Putin’s personal presidential economic development envoy Kirill Dmitriev landing in D.C. today, along with full media circuit: Video 1, Video 2. Dmitriev is a Kiev-born, US-raised, Goldman Sachs-trained financier who’s got a unique handle on the lay of the land. His recent rise to prominence clearly indicates the coming together of Russian and American business interests and thawing of relations, which could be a positive sign for Trump’s long term global reorientation strategy. https://simplicius76.substack.com/p/trumps-liberation-day-another-pr

Putin Envoy In D.C. Hails Trump’s Tariff Strategy: ‘Shift Toward Economic Sovereignty’
Kirill Dmitriev, CEO of Russia’s Direct Investment Fund and special Putin envoy who was sent this week to meet with top US officials in Washington, has said his two-days of meetings went well and that positive steps were made.
“I would say that today and yesterday, we made three steps forward on a large number of issues,” Dmitriev said after meeting with Steve Witkoff, President Trump’s Middle East envoy, who has also been deeply involved in Ukraine negotiations...
..Dmitriev told CNN in a fresh interview that he conveyed to the Trump administration that Moscow is ready to do business again with American companies.
“At this point, we are not asking for any sanction relief. We are just discussing that if America wants to have more business with Russia… then of course US can do so,” he said.
He warned that both sides must overcome the lack of communication which marked the opening three years of war in Ukraine. “Therefore, the process of dialogue, the process of resolution will take some time, but it is definitely positive and constructive,” he described.
Dmitriev was in the US during the ‘Liberation day’ tariff rollout, praising a policy that reflects “a growing shift toward economic sovereignty and national interest.”…
..He additionally stated in a separate interview while in D.C., “If President Putin commits to something, it gets done. Putin is a historic leader. Trump is a historic leader. They can work together to make history happen. If they cannot achieve major progress, few leaders can.” https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/putin-envoy-dc-hails-trumps-tariff-strategy-shift-toward-economic-sovereignty

Gilbert Doctorow, Jeffrey Sachs and the nonsense of our best known economists with respect to the Trump tariffs
The reforms are only partially about economics. I insist that their basic driving force is exactly the same as drives Donald Trump’s wrecking ball approach to U.S. foreign policy, namely to bring back sovereignty by withdrawing from all alliances of every kind – economic, defense – and reordering the world around relations between the three or four Great Powers on this planet, the United States, China, Russia and India. The guiding principle will be national interest, not ideology, not democratic versus authoritarian countries and the other hogwash that has passed for guiding principles these past decades under both Democratic and Republican administrations.
Trump talks about putting an end to the rip-off of the United States by its friends as well as by its foes through long acquiescence in their unfair trading practices that are obstacles to U.S. exports and feed into the presently unsustainable trade deficits each year, which this year are well in excess of one trillion dollars. In effect, he is proposing to end the subventions and overly favorable trade concessions to allies to buy their loyalty which explain U.S. indulgence up to now. Their loyalty is no more a matter of interest to Washington, which will deal only with its peers, the Great Powers. Though one may object that the highest tariffs will be applied precisely to a ‘foe,’ the Great Power, China, I believe that in this one case the parties will enter into negotiations to arrive at a less punitive tariff system for the sake of their other common interests as fellow members of the world’s governing board. https://gilbertdoctorow.com/2025/04/04/jeffrey-sachs-and-the-nonsense-of-our-best-known-economists-with-respect-to-the-trump-tariffs/

What’s he know? United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio surprised NATO counterparts by telling them on Friday that it will become clear within “weeks” if Russia is “serious” about actually reaching a ceasefire in Ukraine.
The statement was issued at the close of a two-day meeting of the Western military alliance’s foreign ministers in Brussels, Belgium. “We will know soon enough, in a matter of weeks, not months, whether Russia is serious about peace or not. I hope they are,” Rubio said. https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/were-giving-putin-weeks-not-months-decide-ceasefire-rubio

US President Donald Trump’s advisers are urging him to not call his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, before Moscow commits to a full ceasefire in the Ukraine conflict, NBC News reported on Thursday citing two anonymous officials.
The US leader previously told the media outlet that he intends to talk with Putin again, potentially as soon as this week, following their previous conversation on March 18. Trump, who is trying to mediate a truce between Moscow and Kiev after more than three years of hostilities, stated on Tuesday that Putin and Ukraine’s Vladimir Zelensky are “ready to make a deal” thanks to his efforts. https://swentr.site/news/615224-trump-putin-phone-call/

..All rats had free access to food and water for 7 weeks. Energy intake, body weight and body composition were monitored and blood metabolites were determined. Results showed that aspartame ingestion significantly increased body weight and fat mass mainly due to an increase in energy efficiency. The effect was related to the amount rather than the form of ingestion. Additionally, aspartame ingestion was associated with glucose intolerance. Sucralose ingestion had a similar impact to that of aspartame though to a lesser extent. In conclusion, 7-week ingestion of aspartame and sucralose had adverse effects on body measures that were not related to the form of ingestion. Netanyahu didn’t “visit” Hungary. He FLED to Hungary, to avoid lynch mobs looking to arrest him back in Israel for what amounts to straight up treason. Looks like him and his closest aides just got caught for taking 50 million Dollars in bribes (swiftly transferred to offshore bank accounts of course) from the country of Qatar to further the interests of Hamas in various covert ways that put Israeli lives and security at grave risk.

     Gail Tverberg’s prescient analysis.
Advanced Economies Are Being Pushed Toward Financial Collapse
Posted on March 31, 2025 by Gail Tverberg

I expect to see more government organizations disbanding.
Eliminating governmental organizations is one way of saving energy.
This is what happened when the central government of the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991.
I would think that parallel kinds of changes could start happening in the next few years, in many parts of the world.

At some time, perhaps as soon as 2025, the European Union could collapse.
If things are going badly for many member countries, they will be less willing to support the European Union with their tax revenues.
Other organizations that seem like they could be in peril include NATO and the World Trade Organization.

These are a few ways simplification might take place:

[a] High level government organizations might start disappearing. For example, the European Union might not get enough funding and would stop. Or something similar could happen to the International Monetary Fund or the World Trade Organization.

[b] Programs that we expect to be funded by the US Federal Government might be handed over completely to the states, to be funded or not, as the finances of individual states permit. Examples might include Medicare, Medicaid, and even Social Security.

[c] There could be major banking problems, perhaps simultaneously in many countries around the world. The debt bubble holding up stock markets could pop. Governments would try to compensate, but they might not be able to do enough. Or governments could inadvertently create hyperinflation if there is virtually nothing to buy with the newly printed money created to offset widespread bank failures.

[d] There could be a great deal more sharing of homes and of apartments. The current arrangement of many single people living alone, either in an apartment or a stand-alone house could be replaced by many more roommate situations. Multi-generational families living together may become more common.

[e] Healthcare may become much simpler and local. Instead of seeing an array of specialists at a distance, people may walk to a local health provider. Medications from around the world are likely to drop greatly in quantity. Government programs to care for the seriously disabled elderly seem likely to be scaled back.

[f] Universities may be slimmed down greatly. There is no point in educating a huge number of individuals who cannot get jobs requiring a university degree.

[g] The huge amount of effort that goes into taking care of lawns in the US may disappear. Instead, people will put more effort into growing crops locally. Some people may choose to raise chickens, as well.

[h] International travel for pleasure will likely disappear, except perhaps for the very rich. Even business trips will become very uncommon. The amount of goods and services transported internationally seems likely to shrink.

[i] Many types of optional activities that now take place by car may be replaced by more local versions, which will be reached by walking, or perhaps by bicycle. For example, visits to restaurants may largely disappear, but eating with nearby friends or relatives in homes may increase. Visits to churches may drop greatly, as they did during Covid-19 restrictions, but they may be replaced by groups meeting in homes. Gyms for recreation may disappear, but people may obtain more exercise from their gardens and their need to walk to appointments.

[j] Very strange political leaders may take office. One person rule takes much less energy than transporting many representatives to a central location. Some of these leaders may take over as dictators.

Market Crash! We’re all gonna dieeeeee!!!!!!!

Yeah, uh, remember how Biden/Yellen put everything in like 60-Second Treasuries, all $36 Trillion, so that Trump would have to refinance the entire world deficit or collapse? You, know in order to screw American taxpayers to the point of being a traitor who causes Civil War and starvation in the streets, in order to have America collapse and our money go to Europe? And that we CAN’T even refinance, bc the interest payments will immediately cause a collapse spiral if we just pay?

    Yeah, that.

Well, here’s what they say: “Well, I mean, it is to be expected, this is a patient that was very sick. We inherited a terrible economy.” and “It’s going very well.” — Trump.

So market watchers have said Trump will get a page in the history books if he can get it under 3.7% and win the whole market. 3.7% what? Oh, 3.7% or lower on US Treasuries, 10 year at least. Then we can refinance the whole debt, long term, be stable, and not collapse in 90 days like Yellen left us, where every American dies like all those market collapses in Zimbabwe and Argentina. Why stop there? How about 2.7%? There’s no market and no price discovery anyway…

Oh what’s that? How do you convince an idiot market and the idiot pundits to let you do that? You drop the headline indexes – Dow, S&P, which are far too high – all your guys like Dimon make a mint on shorting them, since it’s all on command, then like 1987, it’s all back and recovered by the midterms.

And all you need to do is “Chaos!!!” Thanks, idiot media, couldn’t have done it without you. You have a very low threshold for chaos. Like this is the #OPPOSITE of “Chaos” since it’s the most predictable thing in the Universe.

And P.S. that’s why he’s in a hurry. But since no one out there seems capable of noticing it’s the most predictable thing in the universe, I think we got a 99% compliance rate, it will go seamlessly, without trouble, and therefore ultra-fast. Buy buy buy. But not quite yet. My problem is that it can’t possibly go LOW enough, as you could drop 90% and still be average value. However, I really doubt that at this time. The market feeling is that it can drop 50% like you see on many recent charts, then just start a 45º climb again to midterm day. With something like the $5k/person DOGE refund, mailed overnight.

I don’t make the rulez. YOU do I guess, by playing along.

But I really thought you’d care about the embarrassing part, where every time we go there it demonstrates to the world how useless, unprepared, and easily beaten we are. This is what “Just being some normal nation that has a military” looks like. Yeah, our guns can still do some stuff, our men can get on the ground, and then what? We can’t break through. This is why normal nations have “Diplomacy.” We are not an Empire, so: #Winning.

Okay then, answer is no. Then what?

Going back to JFK Files: too soon to ask for the REAL files yet? Okay, so these are the real files? This was everything? That’s odd, why did you hide them for 60 years since there’s nothing in them? Wow, somebody needs to be fired over that! Really made us all suspicious!

Okay, since everyone involved is now dead of old age, why WOULDN’T you release them? Oh, because it’s part of a system, organization, entity that STILL EXISTS and describing it would tell us we’re still being run by the same people now? That the CIA, Israel, Pro-Cuban (aka Socialist) and other groups were all doing it, are still there, doing the exact same thing, and are a supra-national interlocking entity that is running – and murdering – world leaders all the time? Something like that?

I haven’t kept up if the details could be AI searched to get something, because we already had so much known it hardly matters. We’ll probably sift some new gems.

That leads to the point of “What is disclosure?” “What is Winning?” Like, we JUST had aliens land in New Jersey, on camera, with 1,000 drones that “Don’t exist” that have tech they deny. Nothing. Same here. But I think the only Winning, is to have all your friends and family eat crow and have to join OUR reality. That all this was true, always has been, Covid was a scam, they were trying to kill you all, and now they are trying to kill Trump (again).

Why? Because I want the joy of being right? NO! Because we can’t come together unless it’s under one consensus reality of Truth. And since there’s only one Truth, I can’t join theirs. …But we do not seem much of any closer to that lately, are we?

In posts to X, Loomer noted that Wong’s wife worked as a DOJ lawyer for the Biden and Obama administrations, and her father is a large shareholder in a Chinese satellite manufacturer.”

That may start to lead to more light on that.

“”I woke up this morning to learn that there are still people in and around the West Wing who are LEAKING to the hostile, left-wing media about President Trump’s *confidential* and *private* meetings in the Oval Office,” Loomer wrote”

I bet there are, since we know 95% of all D.C. is like that, including NeoCon and NeverTrumpers like Walz himself.

Jeff Sachs: Yes, Tariff R Dum. Okay genius, what should we do then? And since the goal (to be proven) is that he wants NO tariffs, and is using this to force other countries not to exploit us. This is all over, like 1/3 Right are also against tariffs, no real stress, just see it that way.

Some Cult. AGAIN they are booing Trump. Gee, I remember that happening to Hitler all the time too!

And yes, Sachs is protected from somewhere, and can’t tell where. I appreciate him as a bridge for normies from NeoCon/NeoLib land to something vaguely like reality, but he seems self-unaware that HE was key #1 exploiter of Russia for the Colonial Powers when he was there, and therefore a key agent of dropping Russian life expectancy by 10 years. …Just as he’s doing for us, as right there, right now.

I think Doctorow said same thing on tariffs, which is why we have the vote. So that the masses of uneducated, barely-read people who only have the common sense of a boar hog will keep the Schmarty-peoples from killing us all by being far dumber than that.

..don’t you find it very ironic that Wall Street is blaming the Trump tariffs for heading us into a recession, if not depression, when the only great depression we’ve ever had was not caused by tariffs but by Wall Street?”

Well…economists do SAY that Smoot-Hawley caused the Depression, but probably not and people at the time didn’t think so. Economists are always wrong. Always. Or they’d be traders.

Anyway, VDH’s problem is he’s using logic and reason. It’s like crosses and holy water, “It burns! It burns!”

Kunstler shows a flight log with a John Roberts listed on a flight in 2011.

If this person was Justice John Roberts (and I’m not saying or implying that it was), it would have been 5 years after his nomination by G.W. Bush, which was confirmed by the Senate, with a vote of 78-22. One of the few Senators to vote against him was Barack Obama.

In 2012, a year after that flight, it might seem unusual that Roberts sided with the liberal Justices to uphold Obamacare, saving it with a 5-4 vote.

The four dissenting Justices (Scalia, Thomas, Alito, Kennedy) wanted to strike down Obamacare in its entirety, and criticized Roberts “for rewriting the language of the law”.

In a 5-4 ruling, the Supreme Court has upheld the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. While only four Justices found its requirement that certain individuals pay a financial penalty for not obtaining health insurance (26 U.S.C. 5000A) constitutional under the Commerce Clause, Chief Justice Roberts found it constitutional by reasonably characterizing it as a tax. Chief Justice Roberts wrote: “it is not our role to forbid it, or to pass upon its wisdom or fairness.” The penalty is to be paid to the IRS, along with the individual’s income taxes.

    Dissent
Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Anthony Kennedy (Author)

Collaborating on an unsigned dissent, these Justices would have struck down the ACA in its entirety. They criticized Roberts for rewriting the language of the law to find that the individual mandate was a tax, when it had been explicitly identified as a penalty.
