I prefer that law enforcement not be masked. In light of the doxxing, I understand the masking…it is a dangerous precedent.
However, this is a two-way street.
By going after off-duty ICE and their families, protestors have broken the law.
Harassment is illegal.
Categorizing a swathe of people as “ICE,” family of ICE, and ICE supporters, seeing them as “enemy” and subsequently treating them as the “out-group” and declaring that they are deserving of ill-treatment…this is the exact type of human behavior that liberalism supposedly opposes. It is discriminatory. Thinking these thoughts is legal. Speaking these thoughts is legal, as long as it doesn’t rise to the level of harassment, threatening illegal action, etc.
These actions on the part of the anti-ICE protestors are deliberate — they are trying to convince the rest of the nation to join their side in order to stop immigration enforcement throughout the country.
Law enforcement should be identifiable, but their families and off-duty life should not be impinged by their profession, which is legitimate. It’s repeatedly amazing (to me, at least) how frequently it is true that the question which you would most benefit from having the answer to, is the one that never even occurs to you in the first place.
It’s almost as if the unasked (utterly unthought of) question is one of those questions that the instant you do recognize it as a legitimate question, and one that should be explicitly asked (and answered!) you become aware….. without asking anything….. that you already know the answer because it is so clearly, plainly, almost axiomatically obvious. No one looking at that particular question would have any doubts of any kind whatsoever about what the answer was.
It’s almost as if the question/answer are so devastatingly consequential, vitally important and horrifying, that you are literally AFRAID to know them. In fact, after a long life of deliberately and purposefully chasing down such questions as my primary activity (aside from just staying alive, which consumes a lot of time and effort just to stay in the game) I have come to firmly believe that this pretty much always the case.
The most important questions that you really should ask as you slog your way through a complicated life, are the ones that you are afraid to ask because you already subconsciously know, in each case, what the answer is …….. and it’s a baddy.
Let me give you a simple and timely example that is filling front pages around the world: The Epstein Files. In particular the photographs, but the emails and other text-based stuff as well (though not so plainly seen and understood.
To say that their are lots of faces and names in that 3 million pages information is a gross understatement.
It is also almost sarcastic to say that some of those faces and names are legible, and some of them have been blacked out (“redacted” is the currently popular euphemism) by a censor, and that the censor had the authority to “redact” that particular identity, as well as the intention to censor that identity as an assigned task as part of their paid job. Someone senior to that hireling censor had to have also had the authority, intention and job description to issue the order and verify that it had been done as directed.
So, here’s the question:
How did the redactors, the censors with the blackout pen and each of the people above them in the murky chain of command know who to redact and who to leave exposed to public scrutiny. Not only how did they know who needed to be erased, but WHY.Can’t really make that kind of decision without fully understanding, in quite minute detail, precisely why one is making it. Can’t decide without considering the choices, and then deciding. Can’t black out a particular and specific name or face of a perpetrator, victim or ignorant bystander without knowing who they are and why their name or face has to be kept secret.
Those 3 million documents (and the reportedly millions more still being withheld) have been in government possession since the closing months of 2019. Carefully reviewing 5 or 6 million pages of information is a monumentally big job, and yet that job has been done so thoroughly that the censors were able to identify and censor out the identities of every person that they specifically wanted to, and for a specific reason in each instance, including the 80 or so alleged victims who were already previously known to the publicly accessible record.
The ENTIRE apparatus of government is so fully and explicitly aware of the severity and factuality of the alleged crimes of all participants in the organized operations of the network Epstein ran on behalf of his employer that they are knowingly and deliberately obstructing justice in every way they can in order to keep it all an unpunished secret.
That’s something that only devout criminals do. Everyone else wants truth and justice.
