One person in a million (an extremely over-generous understatement) groks what AI is.
Practically no one understands it as an operative process and that’s how the scammers are getting away with the it , and I assure you with 100% unequivocally absolute certainty that it is a scam.
At it’s root core AI is merely an electro-mechanical calculator that can be used as an encoding device by merely assigning numerical values to POLICY CHOICES that are predetermined by the programming method used to make it run, much like the WW2 Enigma device, but taken to literally incomprehensible magnitudes of size (which looks like complexity because it is to BIG for the human mind to comprehend) . In that sense it is very very very very VERY similar and comparable in purpose, form and function to “government” and other such “magic tricks” used to separate suckers from their money and self-determination.
No AI System is capable of doing a damned thing that YOU aren’t capab le of doing, because in the final final final analysis the ONLY thing that an AI system does (or any other binary computer based system does) Is separate Zeroes and Ones based on a very small set of very simple “choices” called “Logic Gates” which are themselves just toggle switches that flip on or off depending upon whether they are sent a particular sequence of “yeses” or “noes”. Yeses can be in the form of an “on”, or a 1, or an electrical impulse, etc. in the case of computer-machinery based AI System.
In the case of governments and other such “wet” organically based systems the binary zeroes and ones (yeses and noes, on’s and off’s) come in the form of an approval, or a permission, or the granting of the “agency” or authority to take physical action and make something actually happen without being shot or jailed for it.
In electronic computer based “AI Systems” the procedures are determined by directives that are called “programs” and the prioritization of implementation of these program implementation are qualified sequences that we call “algorithms”.
The only difference between an “AI System” and a “government” is that one runs on electrical charges moving through logic gates, directed by “programs” that determine where the electrical impulses will go and the other one runs on sovereignty (the “ag ency” to take real action) moving through gatekeepers who use policy to direct where the power and permission to take real action will go. This “power and permission to take action and literally do something is symbolically exchanged in the form of money and title.
You may have noticed that the crucially operative element that both systems have in common is that they depend utterly and completely upon the voluntary ceding of sovereign agency from the subjects of the system to the rulers of the system. Electro-magnetic impulses or abdication of free-will sovereignty.
Take your pick. It’s just an AI system in either case, and it runs solely and only upon your decision to grant it the authorization (agency, authority, whatever) to do what you are not allowing your self to do.
This sort of abdication of personal responsibility is what people do when they don’t know how to do it themselves well enough to be willing to take personal responsibility for the consequences of the action.
If you’re looking for the big black “arcane secret” buried beneath the Gaza Plateau I can tell you you’ll come up with when you find it. It will the following two things, basically. The knowledge that to completely control and rule over a population it is only necessary that one design and operate an AI System (a government running on the policy that you cause to be designed) in which the subjects of the system be kept so ignorant of the truth that they become willing to cede over their personal sovereignty to persons willing to do their thinking and deciding for them. The second thing you will find is the “science” of physics, mathematics, cosmology, and psychology that they had amassed which enabled them to do that very same thing to their own population.
No wonder they kept it all such a big dark secret.
In college now, my son is doing calculus beyond what I did in high school — but I am still his study partner. So, we learn it together (online class over the summer) and sometimes a calculus problem will stump both of us. Now what? If the online textbook’s “get help” button skips too many steps in the explanation, we throw the problem to AI. The AI skips fewer steps in its explanations. However sometimes it lies — and we have to watch for that. Last week the first step in a problem was to do polynomial division. The AI cheated and did that step incorrectly. I knew that the AI was wrong…I know how to do polynomial long division.
Providing AI with the specifics of a moral compass may be difficult, but a good start would be that it does not cheat on math problems.
