“If European voters 20 years ago were told what the consequences of the euro would be, would anybody have voted for it?” he asked. “I think the answer would be, knowing what they know now, that nobody would have voted for it.”
I think we know this already since, when given a referendum, European voters never voted for it the first place. Wonderful persisting illusion that they ever did. Maybe they already knew what happens when a lot of schmart guys in government get themselves a “smart idea.” Disaster.
