    @zerosum

As stated different paths for each.
I’m 67 and not off grid. My wife and I use approx 450 kWh/ month. Numbers don’t jive to disconnect from grid…yet.
My ongoing task is to make life easier as I age. Better beds and compost preparation. Small farm animals Vs large. Shifting thru my multiple wrong choices of equipment and getting most useful, efficient equipment. Pond and water control for irrigation.
Stronger community relationships. For instance I sit on local library board, a thankless task for a world that has no use for books.
And throw in as much joy as is possible: last yr a month long car camping trip to east coast, this year a month to go west, following yrs continuation of canoe trips. Said car a Honda Fit. Like I said, making do with less. We can travel for under $100/day. That’s the Canadian peso btw.
That’s my retirement plan, and there’s far too much to do and plan for.
So, issues: not a warrior, unsure how that pans out. Healthy today, who knows what the future holds. Expecting a healthcare system when it does is optimistic. Govt decisions that suck: excessive taxes, CBDC, or whatever cockamamie plan they come up with. Excessive climate chaos making growing difficult (already dealing with last AVG frost June 15 and first labor day weekend). Influx of “southerners”. Extreme duress of folks around me. Ongoing local health issues from COWED 1984 amongst the naive. Etc.
The future is not clear, but staying healthy, active, eating what I grow and keeping my head up, doing what I can vs respond to the cacophony of nonsense of which I have no control is my choice. I don’t like the alternative of condo living, golfing, pickle ball and resort/RV vacations. I’ve noticed there isn’t a large contingent of people who listen to anything I think worthy of note. Have given up on that and now choose to quietly lead by example.
For what it’s worth, my mother turns 92 this yr, she still gardens, has her marbles and is mostly in good shape. My observation is that those who do make 90, garden and are busy folks who don’t sit at the keyboard.

    @ Michael Reid
Can’t speak for others, everyone’s story is different.

    For me:
Get as far from Excited border and cities as I could.
    Look for a small community.
Buy some land, grow my food and cut my firewood. Learn how to be more resilient.
9 yrs later, can grow about 40% and getting better ( not up to Dr Johns prowess, but the weather’s a bit different here), somewhat included in the community and buying as little as possible.
    Practice having less.
If nothing else it keeps me off the Internet machine pouring forth a constant stream of consciousness.
Still not sure I shouldn’t have done a Fast Eddy.

longtime Canadian government official Maxime Bernier?? Bahahaha.

Do you mean the same Maxime Bernier, ex Minister in Mulroney’s cabinet, that was caught losing secret govt docs in a hotel room with hookers, whilst smoking crack. That Maxime?
And Pierre Poilievre, he who’s never done anything but politic for prime minister. He of the witty 30 second sound bite.
And spare me the history of Carney. He’s a piece of shite.
Tho a brief look at our former second in command Nazi Hell Bitch Freeland is worthy.
Yep Canada’s failing on leadership. It’s a given.
But know what?, we are bought and paid for by the Hegemon. That same Hegemon as I watch is currently (and has been for 100 yrs) using their self stated top dog position to bully every country, bomb whoever they want, genecide whoever they want and generally fuck with the world all to maintain top dog position. All so them oligarchs get to keep amassing galactic fortunes, to preserve them in their bunkers when the house of cards comes crashing down.
My suggestion to the arm chair Druckers General Store hangers on here, stick to trying to glean what will happen to the overly Excited States over the next few years as the world colludes to kick a whole pile of sand in its face.
Canada’s merely a fly shit speck on the wall. With vast resources that the Hege believes they have a right to.
So the waiting game continues as anyone with a brain watches to see if the Hege collapse before the other powers, before our whole civilization becomes dust. In 20 yrs or so.
And the trigger is tightly clenched in the fingers of Don Trumpolini, mob boss of the oligarchs.

The entire world is fixated on the election because the Hegemon has had its foot firmly placed on their head for 75 yrs.
So yeah wed like it to be otherwise but the ongoing mindfuckery that is US discourse and the World Wrestling format of the “election” process has meaning.
Just as watching BRICS emerge has meaning.
That being , when the tides turn there will be a shit ton of sand being kicked in the bullys face.
So as a Canadian it’s like watching a bus going over a cliff….with us in a trailer behind it.

Should add that since the CBC became so concerned with budget cuts they forgot/were terrified to question Power, and the Feds offer all sorts of gratuitus funding to our other main news sources that we have a media bought and paid for.
Which gives us a populace of sheeple, who stand by patiently inhaling the farts eminating from the Power

What did Russia do to Canada?…..,
We took in 2000 Ukrainian Nazis at the end of WW2, spread them across Canada, allowed them to obliterate/whitewash the historical pro Nazi Ukraine stance. Then watched as they infiltrated all sorts of power positions, till K. Freeland (hell bitch/war hawk) became the voice of Canada Ukraine policy. All whilst in her primary service as major boot licker to US direction/policy.
    And there we have China.
But don’t forget she lead the charge against Venesuela, during their sanctions/Guido moment.
Shes a puppet to higher powers.

Weed sitter here. Been on the site for a long time. Amazed at the bickerings re trolls. But look around …every one is pissed off.
    I’ve a solution…don’t read their shite. And respond?…puleeez.
I’m here to try and figure things out. If someone continuous to spew bile – I can ignore. Bickering amongst ourselves is the plan for the whoevers that think they are in charge. Deeming an entity in charge as it is driven full speed towards the abyss isn’t exactly being in charge, is it? So we bicker, they pretend to drive and nothing is done/solved/or started. Repeat.
I’ve a similar story to a fewknowthetruth, and know what?, no one cares here either. We do the best we can with the tools we have. Those with a curious mind get the opportunity to figure some things out, in the midst of like minded folks. I guess we get to vent our anger prior to the fan hit. The rest will be shocked. Cause nothing really bad has happened yet. Cataclysmic stuff that is. COWED1984, Russia/Ukraine and the myriad shit shows ongoing not withstanding…..but they are self inflicted….the big Giant Turd balls have yet to hit.
Have trouble believing in Climate change?…pick one of the Giant Turds: biosphere collapse, chemicals destroying life, financial collapse, perma wars, over population, EMF, lack of resources; oil , minerals, soil, water, a flailing Hegemon, wokesters in charge, Trump, Biden, Hunters dick, European collapse… and we bicker over whether climate change is real? Are we in kindergarten?
And the bottom line, it isn’t going to matter. For 20 years I have been unable to convince anyone, family friends, people in lineups……they have their own reality. Mine is mine, painful as it is to live in. I thought I knew some truths, now I’m not sure of anything. I’ve stopped feeling the need to try and save humanity. I choose to grow food, stay away from the madness, attempt to build my community all from a small homestead in N Ontario (48th latitude). First frost warning 3 days ago…only went to 2*C…..
Tip of the hat to Illargi, John Day, and a few others who continue to do what they do. I appreciate it.

I’ve got to run with the herd on this.
NATO is irrelevant. What can they do? Dust off a few boxes of ammo? Deliver the recently buffed up shells of old tanks. Until they show up with 300-500 thousand men they are a sideshow.
Same with the US…show me your men.
    The only threat is N’s.
Zman is looking for his script/part.
As to the Chinese, I’ve always thought that when they did decide to take a stand, they would have an awfully big stick. That is yet to be seen. But they are showing the will now. That’s the game changer.
Now we wait to see what the mad Neo cons respond with.
Oh to be a fly on the wall in some of these HQ’s. I’ll bet that those undersea cables are glowing red.
What is about the Ides of March?

I’m with Maxwell Q, I wouldn’t now what the right answer on anything is, check my track record.

Dr John. I beleive this is what you were asking for.
I have to say that as someone living in Ontario, observing this and wind patterns, I am deeply concerned. Not a whiff of the seriousness on this side of the border from the Cartoon Broadcasting Corp

Sorry to hear about the sciatic attack. Long time sufferer. (30 yrs)
Some tips: Lift Nothing!!! Almost impossible for a male sapien…but you have to, until you can exercise your core to help support the L4, L5 discs with muscles strength.
    Lie flat when you can.
It can get much worse. To the point that you will not be able to wipe your own butt. (experience speaking….its about that time I began to take it serious)
It will take time to heal.
Medical prodession offers no help but surgery…avoid at all cost. Its about this time I started to distrust those quacks. And helped me avoid the clot shot this round.
It will get better, and there are things to help..exercise.
It can knock you out for months if you don’t help it now…. Lift nothing!

I wish you a quick recovey and appreciate all you do Illargi.

May I suggest this as the art-o-the-day?
