Putin’s side of the bargain would be to let Trump grandstand in presiding over the peace agreement that ends the war.
Even broken clocks can be wrong all the time. PCR is still insisting that Putin should have used the shock and awe tactics of the US in Iraq to end the war quickly. Trouble is that Russia is benefitting from dragging the war out, the longer the war lasts the stronger Russia’s position and the more western enemy troops and weapons it is able to destroy at a rate of 100 to 1. Not only that, it is able to fine tune its military, ready for the big war with the USA which appears to be on the horizon.
Why would Putin go for a rapid war? Nato’s EU countries are now talking about buying expensive US weapons and putting boots on the ground in Ukraine. If Putin can destroy all of NATO’s EU armies at a rate of 100 to 1, then he is living the dream, he is removing a generation of threats at very low cost; increasing his chances of winning the big war.
Trump is powerless, he demonstrated that at his meeting with Putin; Trump deferred to Putin in the same way as he deferred to Netanyahu. All Trump seems to be able to do on his own is to apply tariffs to his own people; taxation. Everything else that Trump does is bluster or babooning. The American deep state will cause all sorts of trouble in the foreseable future, but Trump won’t be in control.
