• Marco Speaks: Are the Resignation Rumors True? (Sarah Anderson)

We’ve been speculating for well over a year about what will happen in 2028 when it comes to the GOP nominee for the presidency. The race usually comes down to Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, though Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis seems to be rising in popularity, especially after his state was pretty much the only big success story for the Republicans on Election Day earlier this week.

Now that we’ve gotten those ugly midterms out of the way, the topic has become a much bigger one. Almost immediately, rumors that Donald Trump was going to fire Rubio as some sort of fall guy (which made no sense) or that Rubio was going to resign to distance himself from Trump for 2028 (which made a little more sense) were rampant.

On Thursday morning, The Independent reported that Rubio was on “resignation watch.” Of course, it was all from anonymous sources. The authors claimed he wanted to distinguish himself from Vance and separate himself from some of Trump’s more unpopular policies, like the War in Iran.

Bloomberg also reported, in a so-called “exclusive,” that Rubio was weighing his options and had spoken to White House officials about stepping down from his roles as national security advisor and secretary of state, but that the White House begged him to reconsider. Both the White House and State Department have denied all of this, and Assistant Secretary of State Dylan Johnson even went as far as to call it “fake news” and “totally made up” on social media.

On Thursday evening, the New York Times published an interview with Rubio, in which he confirmed himself that it was all made up and that he planned to stay with the Trump administration until January 2029. When asked specifically if he plans to run for president in 2028, he replied, “I literally will not talk about 2028 anymore. I just won’t do it.”

In the same New York Times interview, Rubio also talked about Venezuela, laying out what needs to be done before free and fair elections can be held and stating that “ideally,” the country will hold those elections in 2027. Those steps include a new Supreme Court for the country, along with a new National Electoral Council, a process that should begin quite soon.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, Rubio also continued sanctioning the Cuban regime’s foreign military support and illicit revenue networks. “The Trump Administration will not stand by while the Cuban regime funnels the island’s resources to its military elite, while regime insiders and their family members profit from opaque offshore networks, and while Cuba continues to serve as a staging ground for a global coalition of hostile anti-American actors to threaten, spy on, and plot against the United States and its interests,” he said.

I point Cuba and Venezuela out because I can’t imagine Rubio walking away from either project right now. He’s been working toward a free Cuba and Venezuela since his early days as a Florida senator. They’re passion projects. They’re personal. He owns them. They will be his legacy. They’re also politically useful if he does choose to run for a higher office in 2028 or beyond. I just can’t see him abandoning them when we’ve made more progress over the past year than any other administration ever has. If he did, it wouldn’t be a great look, and I think he would disappoint a large percentage of the Hispanic vote that the GOP so desperately needs.

Of course, no one but Rubio knows what his plans are for 2028, but stepping away from his role now would be a huge mistake.

“.. the peace wing of the Trump administration (Vance/Witkoff) won the day over the finish-them-off wing (Rubio/Hegseth/Ratcliffe). You can’t advocate against finishing the war and then blame the unfinished war for your electoral loss.”

• What Is Going on With J.D. Vance? (A.J. Christopher)

Folks, I’m starting to get a real uneasy feeling about Vice President J.D. Vance. I hate to say that, I hate to even think that, because up to a few months ago, my support for him was rock solid. But after the onset of the Iran War, he started losing me to what appeared to be a very unseemly strain of either appeasement or antisemitism. Or both. It abated for a while, but reappeared immediately after our midterm loss on Tuesday.

The reason we lost the midterms is “obvious to almost everyone,” posted Vance on X. “The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night. If you’d like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next six years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that’s at least honest. But everyone knows why we lost. And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there.”

Okay, let’s have that honest conversation. First off, we didn’t lose the Senate for the next six years. We lost the Senate for the next two years. In 2028, we have the chance to take it back.

Second, calling the Iran War the “reason we lost” means different things to different people. To me, and to every conservative I know, our disillusionment comes not with President Trump’s decision to attack Iran in February but because here we are in November, and instead of long ago crushing these 7th-century pederasts, we’re still trying to play Let’s Make a Deal with them. It’s unbecoming of our military capabilities, our security commitments, and, frankly, our reputation.

And why has the Iran War dragged on this long? Because the peace wing of the Trump administration (Vance/Witkoff) won the day over the finish-them-off wing (Rubio/Hegseth/Ratcliffe). You can’t advocate against finishing the war and then blame the unfinished war for your electoral loss.

To the frothing ayatollahs in Tehran, this war is about Islam. To the rest of the world, this war is about America. If we lack the resolve to win even the most lopsided of conflicts, we will lose our influence in the world.

But Vance doesn’t see genocidal Islam as the problem. Vance sees Israel as the problem, and maintains that we must “change our relationship to Israel.” All due respect to Vance, but this assessment plays into the wishful thinking that if we just give our enemies a few more concessions, they’ll agree to live with us in peace. Neville Chamberlain made the same mistake.

It didn’t work with the Nazis, it didn’t work with the Soviets, and it won’t work now because that’s not how the totalitarian mindset works. I suspect that the call to “change our relationship to Israel” translates to “throwing Israel to the Islamic wolves.” And all that will do is embolden the Islamists further. They will (rightfully) see this not as a catalyst for permanent peace, but as a stepping stone, provided yet again on the backs of weak, gullible Westerners. You think Hasan Piker and Ilhan Omar and Zohran Mamdani are problematic? Wait until you see who the Democrats trot out for the next election. Piker and Co. will look like quaint moderates in comparison.

The shortsighted among us may ponder why we even need to have military alliances with other nations. But the military protection we provide to weaker nations is leverage to get other economic and political concessions we want. Our alliances are also a means to keep the wars on other people’s shores rather than our own. And they make our enemies think twice before taking on an entire alliance rather than picking off their individual enemies one at a time.

Yes, we help Israel because Israel is the only democracy in a sea of decrepit barbarism, but we also do it to keep Islamism from spreading. Yes, we help Ukraine because it is a sovereign Western nation that was unjustly invaded, but we also do it to keep Russian imperialism from spreading. Yes, we help South Korea and Taiwan because they, also, are modern democracies, but we also do it to keep North Korean and Chinese communism from spreading.

Our enemies refuse to share this world with us peaceably, because our continued existence, and especially our success, is a slap in the face to the ideologies on which our enemies’ systems of governance were founded. For them, this is a zero-sum game that they will continue to fight until either they or we are destroyed. If we are unwilling to fight them, then we need to at least be willing to contain them.

This isn’t rocket science. It’s Diplomacy 101. But never mind that. Never mind thousands of years of diplomats forming alliances in order to maintain peace. If we just leave the Islamists alone and throw Israel as a piece of red meat, they’ll leave us alone then, right?

Right?

Based on what I’m hearing from Trump, I don’t think he has come to the same conclusion as Vance. In remarks yesterday, Trump said he agreed that higher gas prices resulting from the Iran War probably helped Republicans lose the midterms. However — and this is the important distinction — Trump then said, “But at the same time, if I had it to do again, I’d have to do it again, because long term, it’s the only answer. […] You have no choice. You have to do it. You can’t let Iran have a nuclear weapon or everything that you see here someday might not exist.”

Vance’s assessment: It would have been worth letting Iran get a nuclear bomb if it would have meant Republicans won the midterms.

Trump’s assessment: There will be no such thing as midterms should Iran get a nuclear bomb. I’m playing the long game. The security of America, and preventing Islamic terrorists from acquiring nukes, is more important than a single midterm.

What Trump displayed is leadership. Real leadership. He made a tough decision, one that he knew might backfire at the polls, and he stood by that decision. And as much as the midterm loss stings, the alternative to Trump’s decision is unfathomable. Moving forward, Trump understands the need to finish off Iran. I think he’s known that for months, and that he was waiting until after midterms. I think that was a tactical error, but now the gloves are off, and there’s nothing holding him back. Let the Islamo-Democrats and Tucker squeal. I hope Trump finishes the job.

But Trump and Vance aren’t on the same page anymore. And this isn’t just a difference of opinion. Trump’s approach and Vance’s approach represent two diverging and incompatible worldviews. Vance might be right that MAGA voters don’t want prolonged war. But neither do they want Chamberlain-style appeasers. And blaming the JOOOS for Islamic tyranny might win over the Carlsons and Massies and Greenes, but it won’t win elections, and it won’t solve our problems.

The 2028 presidential candidate I vote for needs to fully comprehend this. I believe Marco Rubio does. I believe Ron DeSantis does.

I’ll leave it at that. In the meantime, make peace and speak the truth.

$2.5 trillion?! Wall Street is not democrat.

• Bloodbath on Wall Street as Democrats Seize Congress (RT)

Wall Street suffered a massive selloff on Thursday, led by technology stocks, as the Democrats’ midterm victories fueled fears over the future of President Donald Trump’s ambitious AI investment drive.

The Democratic Party secured majorities in both the House of Representatives and the Senate in Tuesday’s elections, wresting control of Congress from Republicans. Candidates campaigning against new data center development also won gubernatorial races in Texas and Georgia, two states that have long offered tax incentives to attract technology investment.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite plunged more than 5.5% during Thursday’s trading, erasing more than $2 trillion in estimated market value. The S&P 500 sank over 4%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average, which has less exposure to technology stocks, dropped more than 3%. Semiconductor giants Nvidia, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), Micron and Broadcom were among the hardest hit as investors dumped shares in companies at the heart of the AI boom.

AMD and memory chipmaker Micron plunged more than 17%, while Nvidia shed 9.3% and Broadcom lost more than 10%. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index, which tracks major US-listed chipmakers, tumbled more than 12% – its steepest intraday decline since March 2020, according to Dow Jones Market Data. The rout also swept through America’s biggest technology companies, with Google parent Alphabet, Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, and Meta posting losses of between 2% and 4%.

Thursday’s plunge deepened a downturn that had already battered the technology sector in October, when an estimated $2 trillion was erased from the Nasdaq-100. Investors have grown increasingly skeptical that the enormous sums being poured into AI infrastructure will generate sufficient returns.

The election results have added a new layer of uncertainty, raising concerns that a Democrat-controlled Congress could challenge the administration’s support for rapid AI expansion, including incentives for energy-intensive data centers.

The Trump administration has touted more than $3 trillion in technology and AI investment commitments since January 2025, although much of the pledged funding has yet to be spent.

• Iran’s Leaders Say Midterms Show US Voters Have Rejected Trump’s War (AP)

Iranians on Wednesday struck a defiant tone, celebrating U.S. voters’ rebuke of President Donald Trump in the midterm elections while many in the Middle East waited to see how the results could affect the Iran war. Concerns about the war, particularly frustration over rising prices for fuel and other goods in the U.S., helped Democrats win control of both chambers of Congress in Tuesday’s vote, a sharp setback for Trump and his Republican Party.

But Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, whose father and predecessor was killed in the opening strikes of the war in February, dismissed the prospect of any major change in the U.S. approach to the Islamic Republic. “If there are still those who harbor even a slight hope for a change in behavior or partisan and factional shifts within the system of domination, or who imagine that by giving concessions to America they can dissuade it from hostility toward the Iranian nation, they are gravely mistaken,” he said on his social media account.

There are fears that full-scale fighting could resume
The broader region has been on edge for weeks over the prospect of the U.S. resuming full-scale military operations against Iran. Talks aimed at preventing renewed fighting are continuing, while other U.S. allies in the region urge Washington against resuming a war that began more than eight months ago and has rattled the global economy and devastated Iran.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly pushed for more strikes, while Trump has alternated between threatening major military action and pushing for a deal.

Iran’s chief negotiator and parliament speaker, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, wrote Wednesday on X that “Americans said NO TO WAR, and we endorse this message.” He warned that if the U.S. government ignores the vote for change, “it will learn our NO comes with a Nightmare.” Despite ceasefire agreements and repeated diplomatic efforts, military confrontations have continued in southern Iran and around the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson said in a social media post that Americans had sent a clear message and warned Washington against ignoring it. If the U.S. continues to ignore reality, the spokesperson said, “the consequences of this grave miscalculation will extend far beyond what you have already witnessed.”

Iran marks anniversary of 1979 seizure of US Embassy
Underscoring the mutual hostility at the heart of the conflict, thousands marched through Tehran on Wednesday at a government-organized demonstration commemorating the anniversary of the 1979 takeover of the U.S. Embassy. Pro-government demonstrators burned American and Israeli flags and chanted “Death to America” and “Death to Israel.” They displayed effigies of Trump and Netanyahu alongside caricatures of the two leaders.

“Trump has gone too far in everything and that’s one reason for his defeat in the election,” said Hananeh Jahed, a demonstrator. Zahra Nadiminejad praised Iranian resistance, saying U.S. voters “finally figured out that this is Iran, and they can’t just come in here and do whatever the hell they want.”

“They’ve seen the consequences of the war back home, from skyrocketing gas and food prices to all the devastating effects the war has had on their own country. And whether the Democrats win or the Republicans win, our hostility toward America will never come to an end.”

Nearly five decades ago, Iranian students stormed the U.S. Embassy on Nov. 4, 1979, taking American diplomats and other citizens hostage. Fifty-two Americans were held for 444 days before being released. The crisis helped cement the rupture between the two countries, which have had no formal diplomatic relations for years.

The United States and Israel launched the war against Iran on Feb. 28, killing the country’s longtime supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and triggering a conflict that has disrupted global energy markets and shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

Addressing the demonstrators on Wednesday, Tehran Mayor Alireza Zakani claimed the United States and Israel had suffered a massive defeat, which he said was also reflected in last week’s Israeli elections. “The decisive defeat of the United States and the Zionist regime in recent developments and elections is the result of the Iranian nation’s steadfastness and strength,” Zakani said.

“.. a “dissatisfaction with democracy”..

• China: Midterm Elections are Evidence Democracy is Dying in the West (Turley)

Winston Churchill once famously observed that “No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed, it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government, except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.” His observation came to mind this week after China’s state-run Global Times wrote an article in the wake of the U.S. midterms that celebrated the imminent death of democracy, noting that “the ‘myth’ of Western-style democracy is losing its appeal, even in the West.”

It appears that Americans are ready to embrace the simplicity and tranquility of Mao-like single-party rule. After all, Hasan Piker already has the Mao jacket to go with the rise in support for socialism and the nationalization of industries. China is not the only country taking a victory lap. Iran, which previously encouraged voters for the Democrats in opposition to the Administration, declared that Americans supported its position on the war. It is like the Legion of Doom throwing victory celebrations for America.

The Global Times took particular comfort in the growing dissatisfaction of Western citizens with their systems: “A poll released by the Pew Research Center this year shows that public satisfaction with how democracy works in their own countries is declining dramatically. Dissatisfaction rate stands at 69 percent in France, 68 percent in Spain, 62 percent in Italy, 47 percent in Poland and 69 percent in the US. In fact, sustained tracking by several other prominent Western polling organizations, including Ipsos and Gallup, points to the same trend: Dissatisfaction with the functioning of democracy in Western countries is evolving from isolated discontent into a widespread public sentiment.

The Chinese communists heralded such polling, showing a “dissatisfaction with democracy” due to “the failure of existing democratic institutions to respond effectively to public demands and meet societal needs.” This includes the alleged realization that “institutional corruption has increasingly permeated political processes, further exposing the inherent flaws of Western democratic systems.”

The editorial is obviously meant to show Chinese citizens that they are much better off under authoritarian rule and to deflect recent corruption scandals in China resulting in high-profile arrests and terminations. Instead, it seeks to focus its citizens on “what has gone wrong with democracy.”

The communists are heartened by a rising level of support for socialism and communism in the West. A new poll by The Economist/YouGov is consistent with other polls showing rising support among Democrats for socialism. More Democrats (38%) prefer socialism to capitalism (25%). Other polls show 60% have a favorable view of socialism, while only 32% have a favorable view of capitalism.

However, most Americans, outside of the Democratic Party, do not support socialism. Yet, the Democratic Socialist Party has found that, while it never resonated with voters directly, it has been able to exercise oversized influence within the Democratic Party.

Moreover, a recent survey found roughly six in 10 (59%) Democrats polled said they would feel “very positive” or “somewhat positive” if the US military removed Trump and seized control of the American government.

The survey also found the same overwhelming support for socialism in the new Democratic Party. What is surprising is the support for public ownership of industries. That includes almost half (46%) supporting public ownership and operation of grocery stores. Almost 40 percent support public ownership and operation of restaurants. (39%).

As I wrote in Rage and the Republic, this Republic’s success was a mix of Enlightenment and free-market principles. It was the combination of economic and political liberty that produced the most successful republic in history. This is the 250th anniversary not just of our Revolution but of the release of Adam Smith’s Wealth of Nations.

The founders knew that true individual liberty could not be achieved without economic freedom. Smith’s idea of the “invisible hand” offered a model of individual economic freedom where the individual tastes and choices of citizens drove whole economies. I believe the key to our surviving and thriving in the 21st Century will be preserving what I call a “liberty-enhancing economy.”

The rise of the Democratic Socialist Party has fueled the trend away from capitalism with calls “to dismantle the capitalist state.” Many of the rising candidates have spent years working the anti-capitalist movement. For example, Senate Democrat nominee James Talarico appeared intent on bringing a touch of Trotsky to Texas. In a video from a climate forum, Talarico is shown declaring capitalism an “oppressive system” linked with white supremacy and that it must be “dismantled” to achieve a better world. It is reminiscent of Leon Trotsky, who denounced the “fundamental evil of the capitalist system” and called on citizens to free themselves from its oppression.

As a state representative, Talarico addressed the 2020 climate conference with an attack on capitalism:

“I’m so thankful that you asked this question and also thankful that young activists have really drawn the link between climate change and White supremacy and capitalism in our country … And I think only ending the ways that all three of those oppressive systems work together are we gonna be able to begin the process of dismantling them.”

Talarico’s views closely parallel socialist and communist talking points online. Democratic Socialists of America has challenged people to “Imagine the end of capitalism.” Those words in the Democratic Socialists of America manifesto offer Americans a world without landlords, debt, mandatory work hours, and “food, education, energy, medicine, and transportation… are common goods and utilities.”

The DSA is premised on the same stated objective as Talarico, declaring that there has to be “a revolutionary transformation to replace the capitalist social order based on exploitation and oppression.”

Other candidates have sought to pander to this radical mob. Recently, California Gov. Gavin Newsom thrilled the mob by declaring that “nostalgia is not working,” adding that “capitalism as we know it doesn’t work either.” He also recently said that the DSA is the future of the Democratic Party. He ominously added later that the DSA was the future of the party and that “incremental” changes to our system would no longer be tolerated.

The praise from these quarters reaffirms the view of Leninists that American liberals were their “useful idiots.”

The fact is that most Americans do not embrace socialism or communism. This result parallels midterm losses experienced by Reagan, Obama, Clinton, and other presidents. It is not the Marxist mandate that the DSA or these countries had hoped for. The fact that this was another massive shift in American politics is a testament to democracy, not a sign of its death. Americans exercised their franchise as voters and their voices were heard and will be heeded.

However, that will not necessarily produce the changes that China or Iran are hoping for. The Democrats are still short of the votes needed to overcome vetoes. The new division of power will guarantee gridlock for two years. It is going to get messy, but democracy is messy. What may look like chaos in a country like China, without any democratic elements, is what democracy looks like for a free people.

US + Canada + then also EU = globalism.

• Democrats Plan Strategy to Eliminate Trump’s Canada Tariffs (CTH)

Unfortunately, as noted in the initial predictions for 2027 legislative expectations it appears the ability of President Trump to execute an America-First economic policy is going to be targeted. Incoming Democrat committee leaders are intending to write laws reversing President Trump’s tariff ability, starting with Canada.

The Wall Street Journal, a media outlet who have long been against U.S. protective tariffs, are outlining the Democrat plan. Considering the likelihood of a Presidential veto the democrat plan includes attaching legislation to the tariff authority repeal that will stimulate Republican support.

Congress can override a presidential veto with a two-thirds majority, or 290 votes in the House and 67 votes in the Senate given all members are voting. As of Thursday evening, Democrats had captured 253 House seats and 54 Senate seats. This is where we evaluate internal leftist politics. Some democrats support tariffs, particularly in states where industrial manufacturing, auto plants, steel and aluminum are critical sectors to their economy.

However, caution here is advised as you may remember the ‘blue dog’ democrat coalition that was against Obamacare were eventually crushed by the weight of the socialist movement within the Democrat party. (Via WSJ) – Democrats are eyeing President Trump’s trade war with Canada as the first target in a campaign to roll back his administration’s tariff agenda, according to the party’s senior trade lawmaker in the Senate.

“There is overwhelming support for repealing the tariffs on products from Canada,” said Sen. Ron Wyden (D., Ore.), the Ranking Member on the Senate Finance Committee, who added that he was “already talking” with colleagues about legislation to push against Trump’s second-term levies after he gains control of the committee in January.

Wyden’s statement follows an election season when many victorious Democratic candidates called for an end to Trump’s trade conflict with Canada, which threatens to intensify in the coming months before the new lawmakers are sworn in. In border states such as Michigan, Maine and Alaska, the tariffs were central campaign issues, and even Republican candidates pivoted to oppose the levies in the face of voter opposition.

Even after Democrats retake control of Congress, any measure would likely need 60 Senate votes to override a filibuster, and it isn’t clear Democrats could get the additional support needed to override a presidential veto. […] Wyden and those close to him say the Canada tariffs are the best opportunity to flip Republicans against Trump and potentially build enough support to avert a veto—or potentially overrule it.

The Canada legislation would be just the first in a series of actions Democrats are planning to put pressure on Trump’s trade agenda. Those on Capitol Hill say further actions could include legislation to push back on some of the novel legal authorities Trump has used to justify his tariffs, such as Section 338 of the Tariff Act of 1930, which underpins his Canada levies, but had never before been used by a president. Another target could be Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974, which Trump invoked for the first time to impose temporary tariffs earlier this year.

[…] Though Trump could raise the threat of a veto on any of the potential actions, Democrats think they can encourage Republican defections by forcing votes on unpopular trade items and ultimately build momentum toward larger changes in the run-up to the 2028 election and beyond. “Ultimately,” Wyden said, “Congress must take away the president’s ability to unilaterally and arbitrarily impose tariffs.”

Whether the Democrats’ efforts will force Trump to change any of his tariffs or other trade policies remains uncertain. The power to impose tariffs still rests largely with the president, and those close to Trump say there is little indication that an electoral rebuke will slow his trade agenda down. (read more)

The Canadian government led by Prime Minister Mark Carney is counting on the Democrats to change the tariff regime and preserve the status quo. Carney and all of the provincial leadership will actively be working with democrats. This is going to be an issue to watch closely.

Additionally, nations who seek tariff relief, specifically India, China and the EU, will begin pouring money into the K-Street lobbyist sector to get tariff relief for their specific interests added to any larger legislative effort against tariffs.

If the leftist leadership in congress are successful in taking away or severely hampering executive branch power to deploy tariffs, the U.S. economy will shift quickly. Current investment strategies in U.S. manufacturing can reverse quickly.

What Obamacare legislation was to healthcare sector, tariff legislation is to the American manufacturing sector.

I saw those numbers. 20 million extra Democrat voters. Is that the open southern border, or just plain fraud?

“If there’s one thing I’ve learned in politics, it’s that when you win, it’s never as good as it seems.” Rogan O’Handley (DCDraino on X)

• Color Revolution Is Insurrection (James Howard Kunstler)

Half the country is doing an end-zone war dance, the other half is scratching its weary head. That was some election! But you know what? The numbers are a little. . . queer. I mean queer in the old-school sense. Peculiar. Puzzling. Kind of. . . fishy. . . maybe statistically impossible?

What I think happened: Democratic Party election ninja Marc Elias knocked himself out for two years registering new voters by the bale, as in manufacturing them. . . illegal aliens. . . homeless junkies. . . straight-up fictitious persons. . . in order to flood the zone with fake mail-in ballots, that is, in-your-face fraud. And the reason these finaglers did it was so that when the fraud was detected and announced, they could run the next play — which I have laid out in several previous blogs — namely their well-planned color revolution.

That is, to dare the president to do something about the in-your-face fraud, and when he does, to activate riots, which the president would respond to, and when he does, declare him to be illegitimate, a tyrant, and attempt to transfer federal authority to a panel of state governors. That’s their play, declared overtly and explicitly by a gang of Dem Party aligned NGO capos on recorded Zoom calls this past year. They are all remnants of the defunct USAID, the very officials who carried out color revolutions for years against Serbia, Georgia, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, and other sovereign states.

The reason that the Democrats went all-in on yet another national election fraud is because the party had evolved into nothing more than a criminal enterprise, a colossal racketeering operation and the ongoing cover-up of their activities was unraveling badly. For instance, a most blatantly obvious case, Minnesota, where Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan was implicated in assisting Governor Tim Walz’s involvement in Somali public health fraud, as well as running a Signal chat comms group that coordinated anti-ICE riots in Minneapolis last winter. On Tuesday, Flanagan defeated challenger Michele Tafoya by ten percentage points for a seat in the US Senate, where she will join the Trump impeachment crew. She should be in a federal court with Mr. Walz, charged with conspiracy to defraud the United States.

Many Dem partisans are guilty of serious crimes and are liable for prosecution. They are desperate to capture as many government positions as possible to block any path leading to that outcome. Since the Constitution assigns election management to the states, it was crucial for the color revolutionists to gain control of the states’ election apparatus in this midterm election. Of course, under the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution (Article VI, Clause 2) federal law can override conflicting state laws or constitutions. This has been litigated all year long, especially in the DOJ’s demands to inspect state voter rolls, which several blue states refused to submit to. The question had not been settled before the midterms.

Wouldn’t you suppose that the DOJ will use AI (or SI) to match all the new voter registrations to actual persons who cast ballots? This is the kind of tedious and exacting task that used to take human workers months to accomplish, but can now be done in a day’s work. We’ll know soon enough just how fake the election was. The Democratic Party (and not a few RINOs) will denounce the discovery as “election denialism,” like they did the last several cycles. It’s not going to stick this time. Too many Americans are alert to their shenanigans. When that tactic fails, they’ll call out the Antifas and the jihadis to make a giant ruckus, and that’s when the main act of the color revolution plays out.

Make no mistake about it, a color revolution will amount to an insurrection. And under the Insurrection Act of 1807 (10 U.S.C. §§ 251–255) the president can deploy the armed forces (or call the National Guard into federal service) to restore civil order. President Eisenhower deployed the 101st Airborne in Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1957 to desegregate the schools. President Kennedy invoked the Insurrection Act three times during the Civil Rights unrest of 1962-63 in Alabama and Mississippi.

It is looking a little bit as if the president set a trap for these birds, daring them to try another rigged election. He has acted like Mr. Conviviality since Nov. 3, offering best wishes to the winners as the final numbers slowly spool out. Mr. Trump is a well-seasoned actor, of course, and his role for the moment is Cheshire Cat.

Stand by to see if this battle is joined — I think it will be. We’re entering an exceptionally sketchy several months of US history ahead. The Democrats have been flamboyantly talking shit about how they will punish and persecute anyone ever associated with the president. I think they will be most ruefully disappointed. Their primary target for the moment is Secretary of War Hegseth, for the obvious reason that he directs the armed forces. They won’t succeed in taking him off the game-board. “We need to target those agencies that we know that the Democrats are going to target from the standpoint of trying to either destroy them, undermine them, or fundamentally change where they go,” Rep. Harriet Hageman

• Key Lawmaker Suggests GOP Go Big In Lame-duck Congress (JTN)

One of the few House Republicans to win a U.S. Senate seat in Tuesday’s blue-wave election is urging her GOP colleagues to aggressively use the remaining days of the lame-duck Congress this year to pass multi-year budgets to protect agencies that Democrats want to defund and to codify President Donald Trump cuts to foreign aid that the left wants to restore.

Rep. Harriet Hageman, soon to be sworn in as Wyoming’s next U.S. senator, told Just the News on Thursday night that she is urging fellow Republicans to replicate their last budget reconciliation law that funded Trump’s Homeland Security agenda until the end of his presidency and codify other GOP priorities and foil Democrats’ ambitions in the next Congress.

Such a move would require only 51 votes in the Senate, bypassing the blockade of a filibuster rule, then allow Trump to use his veto pen to thwart Democrat efforts in the next Congress to overturn his priorities, thus securing them through the 2028 election.

“I think we ought to do another reconciliation package and fund some of these programs and agencies that we know that the Democrats are going to target,” Hageman said during a wide-ranging interview on the Just the News, No Noise television show.

“We did it with reconciliation for the Department of Homeland Security just this summer. So yes, we have the ability to do that,” she continued. “We need to target those agencies that we know that the Democrats are going to target from the standpoint of trying to either destroy them, undermine them or fundamentally change where they go.”

Hageman suggested border and immigration budget items, the Justice Department and FBI priorities, and codifying the massive cuts to wasteful federal spending and the USAID foreign aid budget that Elon Musk’s DOGE team implemented. Democrats have made clear they want to restore most of USAID’s budget cuts.

“We need to make sure that the cutting of those programs stays permanent,” she explained. “We need to make sure that the DOJ work is permanent. … Those are exactly the kinds of things that we need to use reconciliation for. That’s what it is for: to make sure that we have implemented our budget priorities for the benefit of the American people.”

Hageman said there are other major actions the House and Senate could achieve that bypass the filibuster, including five Congressional Review Act resolutions that would reverse what she called “horrific policies” encoded in California state regulations that affect the whole country.

“That is very important,” she said of the CRA resolutions. “So I do think that the Senate should step forward right now and do that. There are many things we could do without even getting rid of the filibuster.”

Hageman’s idea got an immediate endorsement from fellow Republican Rep. Randy Fine, of Florida, another of the few Republicans to have good election nights Tuesday. Fine got 5% more votes in 2026 than his first election to Congress.

“I think that’s a great idea,” he told the same show. “Look, I’m going back to D.C. tomorrow. I’m happy to stay there around the clock until Jan. 3 to get the job done for the American people.

“Part of the reason we lost the majority is voters didn’t think we worked that hard,” he also said. “They saw the Senate not even trying to pass the Save America Act, and they said, ‘What’s the point in having them?’ Well, we’ve got two months left, and we should use every minute to the maximum advantage that we have.”

“It’s a cycle: either party will gleefully ride the other’s failures, but neither will address the voters’ real concerns…”

Not sure Scott Ritter should be giving political assessments. It’s not the same as military.

• Buyer’s Remorse Made Trump. It Now Also Wrecked The Republicans (Scott Ritter)

American voters brought Donald Trump to power, handing him the opportunity to radically transform the political landscape of America, building upon overwhelming discontent about the political status quo that had metastasized over the course of successive presidential administrations, both Republican and Democratic. And on November 3 American voters, in a fit of buyer’s remorse, voted for the very party they had rejected two years prior.

In 2024, Donald Trump was elected to a second term as president after running on a platform centered on the concept of “Making America Great Again,” or MAGA. Riding on Trump’s MAGA coattails, Republicans were able to win control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate, providing him with the opportunity to enact the kind of transformative changes in American politics his supporters were expecting – indeed, demanding. Two years later, the MAGA political machine lies in ruins.

Democrats, building on a wave of discontent and disappointment among an American electorate over the two-year track record of non-performance by Trump and his Congressional Republicans, have won decisive majorities in both houses of Congress, and are positioned to challenge Trump’s agenda for the remaining two years of his term.

Or more. Rep. Robert Garcia, a California Democrat and the presumptive chairman of the House Oversight Committee once the Democrats take control of the House of Representatives, issued a two-word warning to Republicans once the scope and scale of the Democratic victory became clear: “Lawyer up.”

In a subsequent statement, Garcia declared that under his leadership the Oversight Committee would focus on four major investigations. “The first is: We’re going to take on the Trump crime family,” Garcia said. “The amount of grift and corruption is unprecedented in American politics.” In this regard, Garcia will seek to interview Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner along with other Trump family members about their alleged business dealings and any connection with the official duties of the president.

“Our second investigation is focused on DHS (the Department of Homeland Security) and the abuses of ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement),” Garcia declared. “When people are being kidnapped and detained, thrown to the ground, arms broken, people snatched up on their way to immigration appointments that we the government gave them – that’s inhumane, it’s wrong, and I think the American public – regardless of party – are sick of it.”

Garcia also plans to investigate corporate donors to the White House ballroom, no-bid contracts like the Reflecting Pool contractor and companies he has said are “ripping off” the American public. “While you’re struggling, CEOs and companies across this country are making record profits,” he said. “They’re putting in systems of surveillance pricing, so that when you go to the supermarket, you might be paying a different price than your neighbor.”

Garcia also intends to probe further into the scandal surrounding Jeffrey Epstein, saying he wants to hold public hearings, which would replace the interviews that occurred behind closed doors when Republicans were in control of Congress.

Other Democrats have indicated that Secretary of War Pete Hegseth will come under investigation for potential war crimes and other impeachable offenses. The Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., is likewise expected to be put under the oversight microscope. A third impeachment of President Trump is very much on the table as well. There can be no doubt that many Democratic voters, perhaps a very large majority, will support Garcia’s vindictive agenda.

There is some question whether the current projected Democratic leadership – Hakeem Jeffries as the House Majority Leader, and Chuck Schumer as the Senate Majority Leader – is considered the best choice for engaging in such a political direction. After all, it was this leadership, combined with the policies of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, which led to Trump’s MAGA-driven electoral victory in 2024.

The buyer’s remorse of 2024 helped fuel the buyer’s remorse of the present times, and if left unchanged, the political cycle will continue to produce outcomes driven on similar remorse going forward.

Vice President J. D. Vance, obviously concerned about what the midterm results portend for his possible 2028 run for the presidency, has come out with his own post-game assessment as to why the Republicans under Donald Trump fared so poorly. In a social media post on X, Vance highlighted four actions that Republicans could have taken to mitigate their losses – ending the Iran war, focusing on the cost of living and inflation, putting America first and changing the US relationship with Israel.

None of these coincide with the agenda laid out by Representative Garcia. This is a critical distinction. Garcia, Jeffries and Schumer appear to believe that the midterm election results are a vote of confidence for a traditional Democratic platform. Vance believes the midterm results reflect the disappointment among voters who had resoundingly rejected the Democratic platform in 2024. The voters, Vance believes, were punishing Trump and the Republicans, not endorsing the Democrats.

Vance is most likely correct in the fundamentals of his assessment: punishment versus endorsement. But his breakdown of causal factors is fundamentally flawed, something his fellow republicans have noted. Senator Thom Tillis, a retiring North Carolina Republican, called Vance’s explanation oversimplified. “That is one of several factors,” Tillis said. “Do you honestly believe, for example, respectfully, Mr. Vice President, that we saw the departure of Hispanics over the war? Give me a break. It’s more complicated than that, and we owe a thoughtful analysis so that we get it right.”

Tillis was alluding to the fact that Vance had completely ignored the role the unconstitutional actions of ICE played in shaping the mindset of much of the electoral mindset, especially those among the MAGA base who held constitutional rights as being sacrosanct.

Garcia has made the DHS/ICE abuses a centerpiece of his agenda. But he is perhaps forgetting that under both Obama and Biden the Democrats deported more illegal aliens than Donald Trump. No one has clean hands when it comes to the issue of illegal immigration. .

“These attacks on Hegseth and Rubio are attacks on Trump. And attacks on Trump are attacks on you..”

• The Palace Coup Against Pete Hegseth Has Begun (A.J. Christopher)

Over the last couple of days, something has been going on behind the scenes that I have a bad feeling about. Immediately after our midterm loss, voices started leaking to the press about how Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, of all people, was to blame for the results. Why? Because of the Iran War, which, with the authority given to him, was brilliantly handled in its pre-MOU phase.

I’m no investigator, but here are the facts as I understand them:

  1. In late February 2026, President Trump authorized military strikes against Iran. Hegseth strongly favored these strikes. Vice President Vance opposed them.
  2. In early April 2026, Trump initiated a ceasefire with Iran, largely thought to be at the prodding of Vance. Vance, along with Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, began negotiations with Iran through intermediaries in Pakistan.
  3. In June 2026, Vance announced a Memorandum of Understanding, which allegedly cemented the ceasefire in place. Literally as he was announcing it, Iranians were already breaking it.
  4. The low-level back-and-forth conflict dragged on until the midterms, and its irresolution is cited as a reason for our electoral loss.
  5. Vance immediately blamed the Iran War for the midterm loss, even though it remains unresolved solely due to his push for negotiations over victory.

Ok, now here is where things take a darker turn.

  1. Vance has been messaging on his own since Tuesday and has claimed that the GOP needs to end the war in Iran, focus on the cost of living and inflation, put America first, and “change our relationship with Israel.” Vance claimed in the post that a conveniently unnamed “pollster” laid these tasks out.
  2. Soon thereafter, a “Trump administration official,” again unnamed, told Fox News that these tasks are Vance’s rallying cry for a “new right” alliance. That same official said that, for Republicans who felt we are too aligned with Israel, “Vance is our guy.”
  3. The very same day, more anonymous officials began leaking to the news that there were “signs” Hegseth could be ousted, that “Hegseth is on the chopping block” after he “couldn’t deliver an Iran victory.”
  4. The next day, borderline never-Trumper Don Bacon (R-Neb.) started running his mouth that Hegseth is unqualified to be Secretary of War. He also criticized Trump’s tariffs and his approach to Greenland and
  5. Canada, without explaining why these reasons should justify ousting Hegseth.
  6. The mainstream media took its cue and began running headlines claiming that, while Trump wants to keep Hegseth, “other Republicans” want him out. What “other Republicans,” you may ask? Why, none other than Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) and Rep. Thomas Massie (R-W.V.).

So lemme get this straight. We have two members on either side of Trump’s ear, Vance and Hegseth, with diametrically opposing views about the Iran War. Vance’s preferred strategy of negotiations not only fails, but drags the conflict into the midterms, which he then promptly blames for our dismal showing. On the same day, anonymous “sources” from inside the White House claim that Vance is trying to form a “new right” alliance.

On that very same day, more anonymous “sources” allege that Trump is considering getting rid of Hegseth (which Trump has denied). To me, this doesn’t look like your usual post-midterm hand-wringing. To me, this smells like a political hit job. And it’s not coming from Democrats; it’s coming from inside the White House.

Hmm… Who in Trump’s administration would benefit from Hegseth, the strongest pro-Israel, anti-ayatollah voice in the inner circle, being out of the way? Full disclosure that this is all conjecture. I don’t have any evidence other than the information we all receive from the government and from the media. But as I’m lining up the puzzle pieces, a pretty clear picture is emerging of who wants Hegseth gone, and why.

To be sure, the Democrats and the ayatollahs would also cheer Hegseth’s departure. But they would do so because they hate America and daydream about its destruction. Say what you will about them, at least they act on principle. ut to betray Hegseth, a loyal American who has truly put country over party, just to further your own personal ambitions? That takes a special kind of “new right.” And I want no part of it.

I hope Trump makes the right decision and keeps Hegseth on board. Whatever his faults, Hegseth’s loyalty is beyond question. His work to undo the damage to our military committed by a non-binary Pentagon alone is enough to keep him on board. And keep in mind that the Secretary of War needs senatorial approval. Should Trump fire Hegseth, there is no chance that the Senate is going to approve anyone other than a woke DEI puppet.

The other day, Vance posted a challenge that, if the Iran War was worth losing the midterms, then make the argument. So here it is: If winning the midterms meant I would have had to sell my soul to an unholy alliance of socialists, Islamists, and antisemites, then yes, it was absolutely worth losing them. That’s a lighter burden to carry than thirty pieces of Tucker’s silver.

And on Thursday, The Independent, U.K.’s foremost socialist rag, ran a hit piece claiming that Secretary of State Marco Rubio is considering stepping down. Where did it get this information? From “Republican sources,” of course. And why? Because of the Iran War, of course.

These “Republican sources” allege that, “The country has completely turned against Trump. People cannot even say where Iran is on a map and do not get this war.” That’s a fitting summation of the sneering disdain in which RINO insiders hold their fellow countrymen.

The same backstabbers who want Hegseth gone also want Secretary of State Marco Rubio gone, because they know that Trump and the MAGA movement will be weakened without them. Make no mistake: These attacks on Hegseth and Rubio are attacks on Trump. And attacks on Trump are attacks on you — from “Republican sources” who are still mad we won in 2016.

In the meantime, make the peace and speak the truth.

Let PCR answer the question whether he thinks Iran can have a nuclear bomb. Then we can talk.

• A Weakened, Discredited West Faces Revolution (Paul Craig Roberts)

The next two months are a dangerous period. It is Trump’s and Netanyahu’s last two months with a Republican Congress in the Israel Lobby’s pocket. The New Democrats such as Abdul El-Sayed and Melat Kiros are less likely to put Israel’s Zionist agenda ahead of their own agenda. Netanyahu knows that Israel on its own cannot deal with Iran. The US has to do the job for them. Whatever pressure and persuasion the Israel Lobby has left will be exerted on Trump before the Democrat Congress takes over in January.

This morning’s news reports are that Trump and Netanyahu are preparing to attack Iran in the next day or two. Apparently Iran does not intend to preempt the attack by striking first. Trump foolishly just before the midterm election announced that he was going to renew attacks on Iran after the election. Trump even said that he was thinking about using nuclear weapons. Nuclear thoughts are no doubt the result of Trump and Netanyahu losing the conventional war with Iran and having to ask Iran for a cease fire.

Trump’s announcement no doubt caused even more Republicans to vote for Democrats to show their disgust and disappointment with a leader in whom they placed great hopes, but who turned his back on them and served Israeli aggression instead of American renewal. The person responsible for the Republican loss is Donald Trump. The election statistics that have been collected clearly indicate that Republicans were voted out of office by Republicans themselves. As Greg Palest recognizes, the Democrats “didn’t get a mandate. Rather, the public un-mandated Trump.” But the election has put power in Democrat hands, and it will be used, mandate or not.

If Trump actually believes what he said–that the election was not about him and that if he had been on the ballot the Republicans would have won hands down–he is too unrealistic to have a chance to survive the second half of his term. On November 4 Democrats were already calling for preparing subpoenas to be issued, for investigations to begin, for retribution. Republican Senator Ron Johnson said on TV that the Democrats “are at war with us. They want to exterminate us.” Senator Johnson is correct, and he seems to be the only Republican who understands this. In my article yesterday I pointed out the direction that I think matters are heading.

If Trump renews his attack on Iran–especially if he uses nuclear weapons–he will deliver himself on a silver platter to the Democrats for destruction. The destruction will include his family and the Republican Party. The Democrats will not need the subpoenas, the investigations, the false charges. They will have in their hands bound and tied a war criminal who followed up his electoral repudiation by renewing a war for Israel. If Trump uses nuclear weapons, the Zionist neoconservatives will love him, but he will be reviled by everyone else.

Is Trump so throughly under Netanyahu’s control as to commit suicide? Yes. ( Some consider it anti-semitic to speak of Israel’s influence over America, but Israelis themselves speak openly about their power. For example, Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon told Shimon Peres: “Let me tell you something very clear: don’t worry about American pressure on Israel. We, the Jewish people, control America, and America knows it,” IAP News, October 3, 2001. More recently Netanyahu said publicly that it was easy for Israel to manipulate the United States.

Possibly Trump might see his dilemma. He has just been repudiated and his presidency essentially ended by his service to Israel instead of to America. He could try to make a deal with the Democrats by agreeing not to obstruct or interfere with their rule beginning in January if they give him a pass and drop the impeachment and further investigations and indictments. The traditional Democrats might go along with this. But would the new ones, the ones like Abdul and Melat, the ones on the cutting edge bringing a revolutionary agenda to the Democrat party?

Possibly, but I think not. They see in the destruction of Trump the destruction of the Republican Party, which is what the New Democrats want as Senator Johnson understands. Abdul and Melat did not enter politics in order to join the Establishment and collect the griff. They entered politics in order to overthrow what they see as a corrupt racist society. And it is corrupt, but perhaps for reasons different from their concerns.

Decades ago, it was the 1970s when I was a young Congressional aide to US Rep. Jack Kemp, to US Senator Orrin Hatch, as staff associate, House Appropriations Defense Subcommittee, Chief Economist, Republican staff, House Budget Committee, staff associate Joint Economic Committee, that Irving Bristol, editor of The Public Interest, called the Republican Party “the stupid party.”

Irving Kristal is sometimes said to be the father of neoconservatism. But if so, he, unlike the neoconservatives today, had an open mind. He published my critique of the Keynesian macroeconomic policy that had produced stagflation and “the American malaise.” He published my explanation some years later of how the supply-side policy had cured stagnation and the worsening Phillips curve trade-offs between inflation and unemployment.

My 25 years with Republicans convinced me that Irving Kristol’s characterization of Republicans was correct, and Trump’s stupidity has underlined Irving Kristol’s conclusion.. By serving Israel in exchange for Israel Lobby election campaign contributions, Trump and the Republican Congress sold out the voters who had placed hope in them and put themselves at the service of a foreign power. Conservatives and Zionist neoconservatives try to hide this fact by identifying US and Israeli interests as the same.

My explanation of the midterm election differs from what you are hearing from the New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, BBC, Politico, and the conservative websites and podcasts. None of these “news sources” are reporting what has really happened. Each and every one is desperately trying to control the narrative that favors its agenda.

In the entirety of the Western World objective news reporting does not exist. What exists are struggles to control the narrative in the interest of some cause or money source. When people watch news they are simply indoctrinated. What we have is a world in which it is almost impossible to get truthful information. Truthful information is what I try to provide, and there is not much appreciation of my efforts. My agenda is the truth to the extent that I can find it. I am not always right.

I don’t know how long it will take the New Democrats to take control of the Democrat Party and election outcomes. They might suffer setbacks, and it might be a long time. But it is in the cards. What is the cause that opposes the New Democrats? Who defends the Constitution? The First Amendment has been redefined as a white privilege to commit hate speech. Truth will become identified with edicts that serve the ruling agendas. Already we see in France leftwing demand that it be made a criminal offense to make any remark about the growing non-French component of French society.

The French left want the French people silenced about the immigrant-invader takeover of their country. There are today large numbers of French intellectuals and indoctrinated French people who do not believe that France should be restricted to a nation of French people. A significant percentage of French themselves actually agree with Abdul El-Sayed that ethno-ethnic countries should not exist. They are actually willing for France to be terminated as a nation of French people. Marine Le Pen, who speaks for ethnic France, is continually persecuted by the French establishment.

It is the same throughout Europe and in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Britain. Western Civilization and white ethnic nations have become unwanted and undefended. When symphony orchestra conductors are fired for preferring Mozart and Beethoven to rap music, what chance does Western Civilization have?

The destruction of ethnic nations will replace ethnic diversity with identical towers of babel. All countries and all people the same. Ward Kendall wrote a science fiction novel about it–Hold Back This Day–only it is no longer science fiction. It is our reality.

The Supreme Court will be a bitter fight. It’s the only thing that won’t be Deemocrat yet.

• Maybe Clarence Thomas Is Conservatives’ Only Hope Now (Matt Margolis)

When Republicans took a beating in the midterms, there was no denying that the clock started ticking on the Supreme Court’s conservative majority. Democrats will take firm control of the Senate in January, and they’ll probably hold it for at least six years. That leaves Republicans with one narrow window to protect the conservative majority on the court, and it’s closing fast.

The math is simple. If Justice Samuel Alito, who is 76, or Justice Clarence Thomas, who is 78, steps down soon, Senate Republicans can confirm a replacement during the roughly 60-day lame-duck session. If either seat opens after January, there’s no reason to believe Democrats will even give a Trump nominee a vote.

“If a Republican is elected president in 2028, that president will not be able to appoint any justices or judges until Republicans regain the Senate,” Ed Whelan, a conservative legal expert who clerked for the late Justice Antonin Scalia, wrote on X. “Given the deep hole, that might not happen until 2033.”

A Republican could win the White House and still spend years watching empty seats collect dust. And trust me, Democrats will have no qualms about doing that. Remember, Ruth Bader Ginsburg stayed on the bench through Barack Obama’s entire presidency, brushing off calls to retire while her party controlled the Senate. She died weeks before the 2020 election, and Trump replaced her with Amy Coney Barrett. Don’t think for a second Democrats will hesitate to block any Supreme Court nominee from Trump or even a Republican successor. Missing this opportunity to replace Alito and/or Thomas risks shrinking or losing the conservative majority.

Thankfully, Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) said he would support a quick confirmation process during the lame-duck session. “It can be done,” Thune said. “You’re talking about basically 60 days post-election in the lame duck… I certainly wouldn’t rule that out.” He even called filling a vacancy “the top priority” for Senate Republicans. So the votes are theoretically there, and if the will is there, we can make it happen.

Alito, however, threw cold water on the idea that he’d retire this year. He told Fox News on Thursday that he isn’t retiring and plans to serve at least through the end of the current term in late June. He has every right to make that call, and he has earned the respect of every conservative in America. But by the time that term ends, Democrats will hold the gavel, and Trump’s ability to replace him with a conservative will be gone.

Now, the real question is, what about Clarence Thomas? Conservatives love Clarence Thomas. He has spent more than three decades defending the Constitution, enduring smears from the media and the left that would have broken a weaker man. It would be great if he could live forever and serve on the Court indefinitely. That’s just not how it works.

Nobody on the right wants to see him go. But if he retired now, Republicans could secure that seat and keep the conservative majority intact that much longer. A younger originalist confirmed in the lame duck could carry his legacy forward for decades, long after the current Senate majority becomes a footnote.

I hate being so torn on this, but the reality of the situation is really sinking in. Asking a man to give up the work he loves, after everything he has given the country, feels wrong. Watching the Court slip away because the timing didn’t line up would feel even worse.

The guy attempted a coup. He shouldn’t resign, he should be before a court. Or a firing squad.

• Nearly Half of Poles Want PM Tusk To Resign (RMX)

Nearly half of Poles believe Prime Minister Donald Tusk should step down, according to the first poll released after his dramatic takeover of the Constitutional Tribunal, which involved riot police seizing the building. Another poll also shows that if elections were held now, his party would lose power and a right-wing coalition could come to power.

In a survey for the weekly Wprost, 47.4 percent of respondents said Tusk should no longer serve as prime minister, while 38.3 percent wanted him to remain in office and 14.3 percent expressed no opinion.

The findings come amid a sharp dispute over the Constitutional Tribunal, in which judges elected by the current parliamentary majority moved to suspend the court’s president and vice president, lowered the required quorum for decisions, and assumed control of its operations. One of the judges involved had not taken the oath of office before President Karol Nawrocki, which is a constitutional requirement.

A separate voting-intention poll by United Surveys by IBRiS for Wirtualna Polska, conducted Nov. 2, days after the tribunal events, showed Tusk’s Civic Coalition (KO) still leading but with a notable decline. KO stood at 27.2 percent, down 2.5 percentage points from the firm’s previous survey. Law and Justice (PiS) rose to 18.2 percent, up one point, followed by the right-wing Confederation at 13.3 percent and Grzegorz Braun’s right-wing Confederation of the Polish Crown at 11.6 percent. The Left registered 7.1 percent, while Rozwój Plus was at 5.2 percent.

A coalition of right-leaning parties could only come to power if it included Braun’s faction, but many analysts expect that the right could form some kind of alliance once push comes to shove. Notably, Braun was pictured with PiS leader Jaroslaw Kaczynsi outside the Constitutional Tribunal during protests against Tusk’s seizure of power. The photo op they took together appeared to signal their readiness for a potential alliance.

The United Surveys poll, conducted by computer-assisted telephone interviews among 1,000 adults, carried a margin of error of 3 percentage points. Undecided voters rose to 10.7 percent.

Tusk claims his seizure of power is necessary to restore the court’s “legitimacy” after years of PiS influence and accused Nawrocki and the conservatives of blocking judicial reforms. In an address on Oct. 31, he criticized the president, PiS and protesters outside the court, saying a democratic state “must be strong and capable of enforcing justice.” He also claimed forces aligned against him are backed by the Russians. The EU has also come out in support of Tusk and refused to condemn his seizure of the court in violation of the Polish constitution.

If the polls are any indication, the illegal seizure has only worsened his position among the Polish public in the lead up to parliamentary elections in 2027.

Nawrocki, who routinely polls as the most popular politician in Poland, has slammed the court takeover as an illegal power grab. Some politicians on the right have threatened members of Tusk’s government with arrest if the right ever manages to come back into power.

This seems to be some kind of mysterious magic to him, a thing he can’t quite understand.

I got nothin’. The only reason that can be is if THEY, themselves, never just state their intentions and keep their own word in their own lives, but lie and deceive all the time, otherwise the principle here would be the natural one. Just be simple. Just be normal. He said thing. He did thing. They said there would be costs. He said the costs are worth it. The End. Too complicated. So speaking of “Groundless Conspiracy Theories” they just come up with ANY explanation, regardless of how irrational or Byzantine, other than that 1) He said thing 2) He did thing. Like “Normal” people do.

“What Would Happen If There Was No Electricity?

Thus my concern about there being no fusebox”: no backup plan. But you can’t keep two entirely parallel societies running– it’s too expensive. Keep a pre-1940 one going that can backup, and a tech space age one going, that’s all tech. I don’t want the tech one. But everyone bankrupts themselves buying iPhones, and no matter how many times computer makes things worse they want more of them, so I’m outvoted.

“IA is the average intelligence of 130IQ”. Yes, and it can’t count to 300. How does that work? You ask it if there is peas at WalMart it says 20 cases, and when you go there, the clerk says zero, on the shelf or the back. And these are simple items.

So anyway, there better be pocket reactors and zero-point energy or one hiccup will kill like 4 billion people in a few weeks. Nothing the world has ever seen before. It DOES look like they feel secure, looking at their own actions. I’m not, but I can’t control even my region, so it hardly matters.
