I’m thinking Tesla will be the one that people will have in mind when they see the emperor’s privates, it being the manufacturing company that does the least actual manufacturing. The others (Apple aside) can easily continue to produce nothing without it being evident, since they never claimed to produce anything of substance in the first place.

Just scrolled down and read the Tesla snip from the Detroit News article after posting that earlier comment. Yeah. So there’s supposedly an “iPhone moment” for electric cars (Tesla’s or otherwise)? Is it insensitive to call that a fantasy, or am I just being accurate?

In due course, the true story about these penguins will appear. By then, the attention of the public will have been directed elsewhere. Polar bears have dropped out of the headlines because they are undergoing a population explosion since shooting them has been banned.

Nature is unforgiving, and that is why penguins look and behave the way they do. Each type of penguin is the result of countless generations where those the were not properly “tuned” for their environment were eliminated.

Humanoids also came pretty close to extinction at one time with only a few hundred specimens – according to geneticists. The incredible versatility of humans and their capacity to adjust is what has made us so prolific.

Each penguin species is highly specialised to a certain environment – hence their high mortality rate when there is an unexpected change. This year’s event was an “unexpected amount of ice”. Well, who said climate only changes in one direction? We had a long winter in Australia – ignore the headlines.

Nature is not a movie that should have a happy ending. Lots of birds die each year within a few feet of our house – but one rarely see the carcases as nature takes care of that with amazing speed. An ostrich may lay 50 eggs in one go and ostriches can live for over 40 years. That suggests that one female may lay thousands of eggs. The fact that there is no ostrich population explosion means that on average only 2 survive to maturity. C’est la vie.
