    2) I’m sorry that Greta Thunberg made me feel queasy yesterday. I know she means well, but it all came out very strangely in her speech. Could hardly bear to watch it. Who’s pushing her? To Davos first, and now the UN?

So glad to hear you say that. I’m likewise suspicious of her and her handlers; whomever they may be…
She’s a media darling and being exploited as such.
Greta Thunberg is no Malala Yousafzai …
In my never ending cynicism, I’m put off by her being marketed by ????????????
…and all too slick media coverage…

This Jinni won’t go back into the bottle.
Greta Thunberg was invited by global elites to speak as the honored guest within the UN holy-of-holys and she decreed that they are evil liars, but she just doesn’t want to believe it.
She has taken the role of the kid in the crowd who says “The Emperor is Naked”.
She just spoke to the world that the whole ruling class is lying, deceptive, and taking no necessary action, while knowing that is killing life on earth.
They have put her in a position to be Grand Inquisitor, and she has judged them harshly.

The elites are also common criminals. Look at Joe Biden and son (fruit-not-far-from-tree) Hunter.
Fancy the overlay of broadening the application of legal statutes to apply to Air Force 2 fliers, then Air Force 1, Bibi Netantahu, the House of Saud, and so on, in the context of Greta Thunburg’s declaration that the whole class is evil, by definition.
There has been massive commentary backlash against her UN speech by those elites who actually watched it, after thinking she was a nice sincere, mildly-autistic girl who they could use for their PR purposes.

Here is the core of her speech Monday:
“My message is that we’ll be watching you.” …
“For more than 30 years, the science has been crystal clear. How dare you continue to look away and come here saying that you’re doing enough, when the politics and solutions needed are still nowhere in sight.
“You say you hear us and that you understand the urgency. But no matter how sad and angry I am, I do not want to believe that. Because if you really understood the situation and still kept on failing to act, then you would be evil. And that I refuse to believe.
“The popular idea of cutting our emissions in half in 10 years only gives us a 50% chance of staying below 1.5 degrees [Celsius], and the risk of setting off irreversible chain reactions beyond human control.” …
”How dare you pretend that this can be solved with just ‘business as usual’ and some technical solutions? With today’s emissions levels, that remaining CO2 budget will be entirely gone within less than 8 1/2 years.
”There will not be any solutions or plans presented in line with these figures here today, because these numbers are too uncomfortable. And you are still not mature enough to tell it like it is.
”You are failing us. But the young people are starting to understand your betrayal. The eyes of all future generations are upon you. And if you choose to fail us, I say: We will never forgive you.
”We will not let you get away with this. Right here, right now is where we draw the line. The world is waking up. And change is coming, whether you like it or not.
    “Thank you.”

Yeah, that’s enough Greta. Neither Davos nor the UN are places she should be. She’s being used. Let’s put a half-wacky girl out there, that’ll look good.

I’m still wondering what that sailing trip across the Atlantic, because flying pollutes, was supposed to signal. Since others don’t get offered trips on multi-million dollar yachts, I can only think it means everybody else, especially schoolkids, should stay home. But not Greta.

    #50068

The verdict itself was perhaps not that surprising, but there was nobody in the UK, I think, who expected 11 Supreme Court judges to unanimously declare Boris’s actions unlawful. Not after that lower British court has ruled the matter was not justiciable. What’s left for Boris and Cummings? A last act? Or stage exit left?

I’m glad Greta spoke. We should always do what depressed teenagers order us to when they’re yelling and crying. That’s what being an adult, or a parent, is all about!

Just another day in #AntiLogos, where the children give the orders and set the rules and the adults obey. The children, having seen less and knowing less are in charge, while the adults, having more experience, are put aside. Also we always do whatever someone says whenever they cry, because that never turned out badly.

I feel for her. She openly says she’s depressed, perpetually terrified, and wants us all to act in a panic too, the very best way to act! Can we remove her to a foster home before something goes awry? I mean, she herself said she didn’t want to be there and shouldn’t miss school. I believe her, and am willing to send money for a plane ticket so she can go back to being a Swedish teen in high school, wearing black and listening to death metal like healthy teens should.

In the meantime, thank you for your input. We take it under advisement. However, as you’ve only been of intellectual Age of Reason for 7 years it may have escaped your notice that every climate prediction since 1930 has been completely wrong. So feel free read some science history, relax, and laugh how big humans think they are, and how entirely, regrettably, continually WRONG. They’re wrong this time too, and although clearly we can do a lot to improve the environment, the WEST, and CAPITALISM, have actually done the most and have the cleanest nations. In fact, the most vilified nation, the U.S., under the most vilified President, is the only one dropping CO2 emissions. Not admitted, I know, look it up.

P.S., the discussion resulting from this is that Europe and the West must invade and conquer CO2 emitters China and India for the good of the planet. …Oh and to stop war and colonialism, the environmental “justice” they speak of. Wish I were kidding. This is the ultimate highest good, by which every evil can and is even now being justified. To save the world you must bomb and invade the world, naturally! To save the poor, they must undergo forced austerity under ecological overlords in million dollar yachts, and have them do without air conditioning, heat, human rights, and meat on Fridays, things which will kill the poor by the millions…to ‘save’ them of course. Think I’m kidding? Europe had 7,000 dead from a lack of air conditioning that is common in America. That’s just A/C. What about outlawing medical plastics and petroleum fertilizer? Stalin would be so proud. But truth in advertising: they openly say they’re Socialists and Totalitarians who will shut off your food, heat, access, and shoes. They vote: “Yes! Please! We want to have no food and have the electric cut off like Greece!”

“Interest Rate Business Model is Dead (Welt)”

If the interest rate model is dead – and I wouldn’t dispute this – then isn’t the present financial system also dead? In fact, does that not mean we are under a system-other-then-capitalism? Capitalism by definition would have free markets and bankruptcy. You cannot have zero or negative rates under Capitalism, or possibly anything other than socialism/totalitarianism. Which is what I say every day. It’s an involuntary system based on violence. That cannot be a system of bargain and trade.

“UK Labour Party Remains Split Over EU (CNBC)”

And yet the Labour party is slowly ceasing to exist, impossible as it seems. You’d think in this environment, they’d have their best day.

“And every second headline says impeachment again.”

I’ve seen comments similar to mine. So a President calls up and asks a country to investigate crimes they were already investigating. I’m at a loss to figure how this could possibly be troubling to anyone. If everyone is innocent, it’s a non-issue, or even better, will boomerang on your innocence and show the President a fool. So tell them to investigate. Make it big! Give us hourly updates! And when Biden is innocent, we’ll take it straight to the elections, fool! …But for some reason, this is NOT what they’re saying. They’re saying – again – that investigating people for open, documented crimes is impeachable. Crimes the Ukrainian government couldn’t get them to receive and so hand-delivered proof of to the Justice Department. Because…? Sorry, sometimes it gets so thick I’m at a loss to even describe it. I’m from this weird historical carryover where when crimes are referred, you investigate them by talking to the witnesses and victims because that is your only job. Right, NY Times?

In Kunstler, it may be worse than the whistleblower is Mr. Atkinson, who is partisan and has no evidence and no firsthand knowledge. You can’t “whistleblow” that you disagree with policy. Everyone does, should, and is allowed to disagree with policy. You also have to be in chain-of-command of the event. An employee of GE, for example, cannot “whistleblow” crimes at GM. Apparently this was why the DNI wouldn’t refer it. …I mean OTHER than having no physical evidence but hearsay.

Worse, DJT goes on camera, to the media, and TELLS them NOT to run with this story. Like the laser-pointer-and-cat meme, he’s openly telling them he’s using THEIR focus to incriminate Biden in the news. TELLING THEM. Quote: “I’m like 22-and 0 and you’re going to be sorry.” Maybe he should jump up on a desk and flap his arms like Beto. But if they were smart enough to bang two rocks, they wouldn’t be in the press room, so take the story, run with it, prove themselves fake and incriminate Biden, just like he said. …Yet people still think he’s lucky and stupid. Pretty soon he’ll print out PowerPoint flow charts about how he’s punking the media — triangle box for the leaker, diamond box for CNN — and they still won’t get it. The American people aren’t that smart and they get it mainly, so imagine how dumb the press and elite intelligentsia must be. Sheesh. We may have figured out where the lower half of the intelligence bell curve lives. I think he’s telling them because he’s bored and wants to up his handicap.

“US Government Moves to Block Alleged Drone Whistleblower’s Defense (SProof)”

Meanwhile, with real whistleblowers… And that’s how you know them. Congress can’t ignore them fast enough, and as with Ukraine, cancel their visas if they try to present evidence.

“Democrats Announce Tighter Criteria for Fifth Presidential Debate (R.)”

It will be as tight as necessary to make sure they remove any candidate who can beat Trump in 2020. Congratulations: you’ve won. Just like 2016. Tulsi remains the most Googled candidate despite total Left blackout, shut down of her sites and fundraising, and a ban from the debates. Wouldn’t want someone with widespread popular support like that running for President, would we?

Since it is improper for a 16 year old to rail against the establishment, I as a 53 year old will do it instead.

I use these dates for family reasons. When my grandfather was born in May 1912, CO2 was at about 302 ppm. When my father was three months ago in May 1939, CO2 was about 312 ppm. When I was six months old in May 1966, 322 ppm. In May 1993, CO2 up to 356 ppm. In May 2020, about 417-18 ppm. We’re in a heap of trouble, Dr. D’s blandishments notwithstanding.

And Dr D, it is NOT snowing in Denver today, it is about 60F. Moreover, it has snowed — measurably– as early as the first week in September. Although you won’t do it, look at http://www.climatereanalyzer.org. And start including some links to your lengthy comments.

    “Biden did it first.”

A childlike response to focus away from the president’s attempts to extort Ukraine into highlighting Hunter’s business activities in Ukraine.

What Hunter did has nothing to do with Tяump’s extortion and the media is correctly so focused on Tяump’s betrayal.

ed to focus coverage squarely on allegations that Trump asked a foreign leader to investigate the Biden family — and away from the president’s attempts to highlight Biden’s son Hunter’s business activities in Ukraine.

    #50077

No Ken, “..it is NOT improper for a 16 year old to rail against the establishment”, but dragging a vulnerable child around the world may well be, even if she herself thinks it’s not. Why is she?

I don’t agree with Dr. D on the early snow or anything like that, it’s all a matter of if we don’t wreck the thing with 7 billion of us, what will it take, 8? 9? Wrecked it will be though.

I’m for now much more worried about species going extinct ever faster, and I wish the two -warming and extinction- weren’t so lazily heaped together.

First rule always should be: Our planet is system that is so complex we can’t even pretend to understand it. It’s tempting though.

    Turfkiller,

There’s no evidence Trump tried to “extort Ukraine” into anything. Doesn’t mean he didn’t but evidence rules. We do have proof Biden extorted Ukraine though. The whistleblower thing is nothing but hearsay, we know that too.

Part of your comment seems to have fallen away, do redo that if you want, but saying Trump should be scrutinized, impeached even!, but not the Bidens, would appear to be on a very small patch of thin ice.

We know from John Solomon that the Ukraine prosecutor was planning an interview with Hunter Biden right before he was fired, and afterwards Ukraine tried to get thru to the DOJ in multiple ways with info on this.

Nothing Biden did looks on the up-and-up in the case, but you think we should just forget about that because it happened at a time when Obama and Poroshenko were in power?

And yet Trump should be impeached for asking a new president, one that was not installed by Hillary and John McCain et al, to work an on investigation that was already advancing?

    I’d say investigate them all.

There’s all these people saying the Biden probe in Ukraine was ‘dormant’, but it only was, if it was at all, because of Obama gov pressure.

    And whaddaya know:

Trump Authorizes Release Of Transcript Of Controversial Ukraine Call That Mentioned Biden

    Good luck with the impeachment.

    Jeez.

There must be so much out there to get Trump with, but we’ve had three+ years of nothing. Is it really just laziness on the part of the media and Dems? Asking for a friend.

Greta upset me too. I am relieved that I am not alone. My Mom spoke only Swedish until she started first grade. I was amazed how well Greta spoke and she made sense until her angry outburst. English after WWII became the language of commerce then of the Empire as shown by it being taught as a second language in grade schools. She is a sign that the chickens have come home to roost. Boris Johnson is an oaf. Donald Trump a wiseguy. Both are a result of austerity and rising inequality. The Houthis attack on Saudi oil production destroyed the Empire. The Carter Doctrine is dead. There are two options left. Let Eurasia have its gulf oil or blow everything up.

All that remains for North America is to use the remaining resources, labor and wealth on new green deal, strong borders, health, shelter, education and food. Paid for by ending overseas wars and easing inequality. The denial of the ruling class is astonishing. The media strenuously says this is the best of all possible worlds and avoids discussion of the ultimate outcome of climate change and the end of the empire – a new dark age. I think it comes down to Elite pouting. “If I can’t have it. Nobody can.” There may not be survivors.

All, I repeat all the messengers, (including the politicians ) are being coached, prepared, to deliver THEIR message.
If they are not, then their message will end up in the garbage.

I think its great that expert communicators got behind her to deliver such an important message.
