Surplus Energy Economics, The Devil To Pay

More specifically, abundant environmental facts exist but are routinely disregarded, whilst most of the available “facts” about the economy belong firmly in the category of fiction...
..On the environment, the vast body of opinion divides into two schools of thought. John Michael Greer has put this extremely well.
On the one side are those who say that “nothing is wrong, the climate isn’t changing, and even if it is changing, it’s not our fault and it will probably turn out for the best anyway”.
On the other are those who, whilst admitting that there are problems, insist that a fix exists in the form of “transition” to renewable sources of energy.
These, Greer says, are exemplified by “the Davos set, who fly on private jets to dine on steak and lobster while discussing how everyone else will have to give up their cars and live on insect protein”.
Likewise, the vast majority of opinion about the economy divides into two sets of views. One is that there’s no problem with the economy that can’t be explained in terms of the sheer bad luck of encountering wars, a pandemic and disruptive trade disputes in quick succession.
The alternative view concedes that the economy isn’t performing well, but assures us that the “normality” of growth will be restored through a combination of technological advance and monetary stimulus.
