That painting is odd. The eyes don’t focus. One eye looks up and slightly over the viewer’s right shoulder as one hand is raised in an upward gesture. The other eye looks straight at the viewer as one hand holds the orb of the world. So much attention and detail in the robe while the face and hands remain indistinct.

MPSK, Now even Private Equity is going after the minnow investors. I think Congress passed a change in regulations (or is still considering the change) letting minnows (“nonaccredited investors”, aka investor has less than one $million in net worth) letting the minnows invest in PE. Seems like a warning flag that maybe things aren’t as hunky-dory in the economy as Biden says.

Here’s the (proposed) rule change pdf, but it’s long and boring. Saying small investors, excuse me, “nonaccredited investors” should be able to invest in Private Equity the same way they can now invest in penny stocks… is that really a good comparison?

This is an old Joe Rogan show with guest Randall Carlson. I started the clip at the point where they are talking about ancient climate ice core records and climate changes in the last two thousand years. Watching for 10-15 minutes is enough to get the ideas. The entire show is loong.

    About Bump:
‘As noted by Bump, citizens are much safer to just accept what they are given and avoid the temptation to do their own research. Censorship is now actually proclaimed as a form of virtue signaling, assuring viewers that they will not have to hear certain opposing views or figures. There is little tolerance for those who insist on seeking out such news. After all, as the Post’s Bump explained, “I’m telling you, you’re wrong about these things, and you don’t listen.” ‘

Sounds like a cult leader to me. “Have some Kool-Aid.”

About Vivek. Great speech. I don’t trust him. It was funny to see him almost perfectly mimic Trump’s hand gestures after watching him in an earlier video perfectly mimic Obama. It was a good speech, though.

    About Michael Moore’s tweeted clip:

I always wondered what the Dem/GOP party bigwigs would do for an encore after passing NAFTA and cutting union jobs, fully integrated union jobs. It looks like they decided on CRT, DEI, and cries of “Ra*sist” from above to sow divisions below. “Othering” my neighbor doesn’t create good jobs or offer more opportunity.

Matt Taibbi on the campaign trail reporting from a Cornel West event.
    Excerpt from the longer article:

Back to the stage. West is still talking about Gaza.

“What kind of world are we living in, America? What kind of country? What kind of empire? All of that barbarity, all of that bestiality?” (He pronounces barbarity with the last syllables stretched out, like King’s “long night of captivity.”) “When I think of Biden and Harris and Austin and Blinken, and Sullivan and Kirby” — booo! comes the rising sentiment from the crowd — “I say personally to Biden and company… You oughtta be shamed!”

The crowd roars again. Standing to the side of the stage, I can’t see its end. It was hard also to avoid seeing the awesome quantity of anti-Biden signage in the crowd. A Code Pink group was toting a BIDEN BLOOD ON YOUR HANDS canvas, while GENOCIDE JOE was heavily represented in chants and in at least one fat red sign periodically seen in the crowd’s dead center. A campaign reportedly begun by the National Conference of Swing State Muslim Leaders last month created an impressively ubiquitous call to ABANDON BIDEN, with holders of such signs scattered all over, departing from the modern American-left strategy of toothless protest, i.e. making noise without electoral punishment. This crowd isn’t trying to send a message. It wants Biden ridden from office.

There are so many demographics recoiling from traditional politics now that in a fair electoral fight, Washington consensus would surely lose. This is why, after decades in which third parties were mostly irrelevant at the presidential level (with the exception of Ross Perot’s brief surge in the 1992 cycle), ballot access is suddenly a commodity more prized than gold. Anyone with a pulse who can order a cheeseburger without help will be a serious option for millions, once voters disappear into booths in November. The problem is getting names on ballots.

    Vivek again.
“My top goal is to reunite this country & pardoning Trump is a requirement to achieve that.”

Pardoning Trump from what? Does Vivek assume and signal, like Biden, that Trump is guilty of something before he’s been convicted on serious charges? Sly way to stick in the shiv, Vivek.

RFK, jr. Wish he’d spend less time running as his father’s son and JFK’s nephew and stand stronger on his own feet.

Vivek says all the right things for a lot of voters. I’m glad to hear him push back against the official narrative media. However, he said in the Roseanne interview that he’s a libertarian internationalist. Sounds kinda a like a no govt rules globalist to me. I also see he was listed on the WEFs Young Global Leaders list a few years ago but recently sued them to have his name removed. He says he likes Argentina’s Milei a lot. Milei is affiliated with the WEF and is about to bring vast pain to Argentina’s middle class and poor. Think Milton Friedmans’ Chicago School economics revisited on a South American country…again.

I like what Vivek says pushing back against the MSM official narrative recitations. Reading between the lines, howver, I think he’s another WEF adjacent globalist with a good talk but a real agenda for Davos centered than US centered. Like Clinton and Obama before him. Those two had great campaign talking points, too.

    Matt Taibbi substack article
    The War Party Tantrum.
Voters keep rejecting the colonial project, but institutional America won’t take no for an answer.
    https://www.racket.news/p/the-war-party-tantrum

    From the longer article:
[Niall] Ferguson might have been right, but Americans never consented to fight and die for “colonial rule,” and had every right to refuse to do so once it became clear that was the motive. They’ve rejected the colonial project at the ballot at least twice, first in 2008 with Barack Obama, whose “meteoric rise” according even to Ferguson was “based on not having supported the war,” then again — this is true, there’s no way around this — in 2016, when Donald Trump began promising to “keep America out of these endless, ridiculous, stupid, foreign wars in countries that you’ve never even heard of.”

Trump wasn’t any kind of traditional antiwar figure, but his running commentary on America’s interventionist plan was hilarious and exactly what the average person would say, if shown the ledger of recent Pentagon “accomplishments.” He had a talent for puking on Beltway war pieties, saying, “They can do what they want there, frankly” about Iran in Syria, or tweeting that the Kurds fought with us, but “but were paid massive amounts of money and equipment to do so.” This behavior inspired fits among foreign policy wonks accustomed to having even their most idiotic pronouncements hailed as Timeless Wisdom, but Trump capturing votes of war-weary Americans in 2016 showed how the public felt about such people, and his recent campaign to stall the Ukraine project has been successful for the same reason.

about flu vax shots: The last time I took a flu vax was over ten years ago, and in that following year I was sicker more times and sicker worse than I’d ever been before. Maybe coincidence, maybe just me, maybe bad luck. It was a terrible year of viral infections one after the other for me. I’ve never taken another flue vax shot.

Why is New York Tiimes editor Gay going on about an imagined civil war and confederates, confederates she tells you! ? There’s no civil war; there’s a class war brewing between the PMC elite class trying desperately to hold on to their elite status and everyone else whose lives they’ve managed to make worse. That’s my opinion. Falling life expectancy, increasing homelessness, increase in suicides, more inflation, open border bringing in cheap labor to undercut US wages on the bottom of the scale. The PMC elite class only cares about itself, and it shows.

Bosch’s “Adoration of the Magi.” Beautiful painting. Italian Gothic school painter Gentile de Fabriano’s painting has the same theme: humble old age on its knees in worship, uncertain middle age behind, and proud and simple youth standing straight behind middle age.
Here is de Fabriano’s alter piece of the Adoration.
