“Though Haas noted his own study supports arguments that the Northwest Passage won’t become “easily navigable for another 40 years or so.”
So what’s the status of the passage right now? NSIDC says both “the Northern Sea Route, along the coast of Russia, and Roald Amundsen’s route through the Northwest Passage are open.”
But of course, this news comes after researchers spent four grueling weeks at sea on an ice-breaker trying to get to the North Pole — and that’s despite it being summertime. NSIDC notes that the “U.S. icebreaker’s capability is far behind that of Russia and other Arctic nations, and plans are ongoing for the U.S. to build a new polar-class icebreaking vessel.””
Always assuming that the natural changes in climate do not result in another mini ice-age:
“Mini ice age could bring freezing temperatures by 2030”

In a tangent, Time magazine printed science’s recent retraction of their 40-year premise that low-fat diets help anything. In fact, evidence shows it kills people (because one must replace this food group with cheap carbs). –These are studies debunking this falsehood going back to 1979, or even to the McCarthy era, but it wasn’t profitable to admit it. Again, science suppressing studies, getting things wrong for decades that kill millions, then reversing themselves. Oops! Did I kill your father, your mother, your brother? Because of this did I accidentally sell billions in statin drugs that also have (well-admitted) deadly side effects and kill a hundred thousand more? I guess you died for taking science at their word!
Also on the list, Ortho reversing use of neonicitoids which it was denied caused bee collapse. Apparently Ortho thinks it does, and it didn’t take a genius to figure it out, but it was bad for profits and trillion-dollar liability worldwide to admit it. Roundup being classified as dangerous, which since it kills everything it touches by design, also didn’t take a genius to figure out. Wait–weren’t the safety of both supported by scientific studies? Yes, studies funded by the industries selling them. Decades and decades of Science-for-Hire, caught in the act, year after year, and yet the public refuses to believe it, year after year, and die by the thousands for their trust, year after year.
If they’re constantly being caught and reversing themselves hundreds of times a year, with 5 major scandals per decade, can we read what they say with a more questioning eye now? Please? When can we stop treating them as a religion of high priests breathing the descended word of God? Questioning is a good thing. Running independent studies is beyond a good thing, it’s required. And that’s how real science works, with questions, discussions, and research. Or would work if we tried it. Because they are men.

LOL. Or, more accurately CS. Chortling softly. It is, exactly, Theater; and yes, Farce, not Tragedy. Might as well get our giggles; no other value will be forthcoming.
I’m still waiting to hear, in all this “new morality” they claim is percolating through Wall Street, a suggestion that in cases of executives running their corporation into bankruptcy, all the assets of corporate officers and executives will, of course, be seized and used to pay creditors. Only fair, dontcha think? Their responsibility – their consequences.
Not holding my breath, though.

Brutish police paramilitary and military machinegunning pitchfork-wielding old folks in the streets? “Mandated” visits to Kevorkian clinics after age 70 as a “patriotic” duty? Visions of our future? Just keep procrastinating long enough folks!April 22, 2016 at 5:32 pm #27804Ken BarrowsParticipantFair enough. Conventional wisdom does get turned on its head. But… here’s an updated graph:

If the data is right, you’re probably wrong. Last word is yours if you want it. -
