…but why are they doing training flights through the airport? Does the military not have bases in areas where people can fly around, NOT over airports?
I’ve seen pics of the pilot smiling at the white house with the usual LGBT paraphernalia and dyed hair. Was their flight training over the busy Washington DC airport rather than scrubland in Nebraska so that this woman could Live Her Best Life and stay connected to self-actualizing self-advancement and political networking in Washington DC? Just like we prioritize for every student pilot, right?
Surely she wasn’t able to fly a helicopter around a busy metropolitan area with, for all intents and purposes, virtually the same as NO flight experience, for political/ideological reasons? Focus on the transponder though.
I guess her Flight Instructor was more of a Flight “Suggestor”, based on his allowing her to disobey his advice. Back in the day when actual men flew aircraft, and instructed newbies how to do same, the Instructor would have taken control of the aircraft without hesitation, given the newbie a well deserved beating after the landing, and made sure that the defiant moron never lay hands on the controls of another military aircraft in the future… like ever. Don’t fuck with real pilots, and the corollary to that immutable law of the Universe is that if you even can fuck with them then they’re not really a pilot in the first place.
She was clearly well-connected – visiting the White House, doing nighttime helicopter training through an urban environment with 45hrs of flight time, etc. I assume with her looks, her obvious connections, an the obvious amount of pull altering how she was treated in the military, she was being groomed for a political future.
It’s possible that, by the criteria she was used to functioning in, things a lower social rank person said to her would be considered less important than her own thoughts/words/actions/etc. Social ranking value as opposed to flight instruction based value.
So the beta male assigned to her in this totally strings-pulled situation in which she is accustomed to obstacles, problems, being cleared for her, warns her, and she perhaps never had consequences in her life outside negotiating social hierarchies. She makes the “correct” evaluation of her own social standing vs his, knows she can continue doing what she wants? The instructor seems unnaturally deferential in how he phrases his direction for such a newb trainee. like if I had the CEO’s daughter doing a side-by-side with me in the call center on her first day of taking calls.

Excellent speculative analysis. Your scenario is more finely grained than my “Visualization of the Cosmic All” in this case, but is otherwise the same in all of its pertinent details. Times have changed, but the laws of physics haven’t, nor the consequences of stupidity in high places. Things that break stop working.The instructor/copilot would have been a political or at least quasi-political creature themselves – the social/career “dangers” of strongly contradicting her or overriding her at the controls were more real to him than the upcoming collision that he correctly predicted! He knew what was happening and somehow did NOT act to save himself.
Possibly other instructors already tried to ground her? Refused to fly with her? (how did she end up with an instructor who behaved like this?) Certainly her political handlers murdered that plane full of civilians. For petty reasons. Couldn’t even send their mascot to tough it out in Alaska for 6 months or something.

Real pilots are a breed apart. Truly, and that is not an overstatement.
Few people are able to even imitate what pilots do, and tend to think of being a pilot as “flying an airplane.” Oh, no, no, no, no noooooo. That is such a tiny part of it. You can teach any reasonably healthy human being to fly an airplane.
What real pilots do is something that the vast majority of humans never even contemplate, and would refuse to do even if they knew what it was.
When a real pilot steps into an aircraft they are awarely taking full personal responsibility for everything and everybody that could have any effect upon the successful completion of the upcoming flight. They know that their own lives, the lives of everyone on-board (and many people on the ground, too) depend on how well they, as pilot, do their job until everyone is safely back on the ground and de-planed.
Maybe one person out of a thousand has that kind of stuff, and I’m probably overgenerous in that estimate. My Dad logged 15,000 hours at the controls by the time he was 30. All of closest friends were pilots too (or air crew) so I had the chance growing up to watch them in their natural habitat. What a bunch. You could trust them implicitly with everything but your girlfriend and/or your liquor.

I have never been in the armed forces, so I only have my Father’s wisdom to rely upon.
Everybody seems to overlook the basic fact that the woke female helicopter pilot was a commissioned officer, while her lower ranked co-pilot was not an officer.
The non-officer had no choice but obey her decision without question.
The co-pilot by suggesting they turn left, came as close to questioning her decision, without directly questioning her decision, as he dared.
If the co-pilot had directly questioned her decision, or had taken over the controls, he risked ending his career on the spot.
The co-pilot basically had little/no choice but obey his commanding officer, for better or worst.
This non-officer training an officer situation should never have happened in the first place.
The training co- pilot for an officer, should always be a more senior officer, who could easily over-ride a junior officer without incident.“this person should not have been in the military because there should not be a military.”
Do send us pictures of the large sign you put out in your front yard, one with big lettering, declaring:

DEI Pilots:
One thing about DEI pilots is that that their failures quickly rise to the surface.
A crash basically ends their flying careers for good.
That DEI F-35 navy pilot crashing into the aircraft carrier probably used up her life’s quota for F-35s and won’t ever fly again. No aircraft carrier wants her.
The DEI Blackhawk pilot quickly proved her incompetence for keeps.
Those 2 DEI pilots crashing their passenger plane in Toronto, will probably never fly again as no insurance company will insure them.So problem DEI pilots, self correct themselves.
My Father operated a very large fleet of float planes up in Canada’s north.
He always said if a pilot ever crashed an air plane in suspicious circumstances, they would never fly again because no one would ever hire them!@WES –
I believe the instructor was a Warrant Officer and the DEI pilot was a Captain.
Chances are that the Warrant Officer had many more years of service and combat experience as well.
In such a situation, the Captain would not dare to “pull rank” on a Warrant Officer many years her senior.
But it has been more than 40 years since I served in the Army as a commissioned officer and who knows how screwed up things are now.
