Along the lines of the comet/meteor strike event 13.5K ago that wiped humanity’s clock clean and reset the have/have not spectrum of Knowledge.
What’s your take on the Antikythera Mechanism estimated to have been constructed somewhere between 204-87 BC and found in a shipwreck.
If you have done any amateur metal machine work, without CNC, it’s an astonishing piece of craftsmanship.
Cutting gears by hand, while not impossible, is very time consuming to achieve that level of accuracy.
That level of mechanical sophistication the Greek got was not duplicated by the Romans and was basically forgotten and not replicated until the mechanical clocks of the 14th century, fifteen centuries later.
Shows human technological skill can be lost for huge amounts of time.
The Mayans were great at astronomy but to my knowledge never manifested an Antikythera Mechanism.

Mutiny is a very serious matter. Very. It’s when the slaves say “No”, and when the slaves are no longer willing to put up with all the abuse that they are subjected to, and start figuring out (and implementing!) ways to avoid doing what they’re being forced to do against their own best interests, then the leaders & rulers have got a big problem on their hands.
And that’s exactly what’s happening on the USS Gerald Ford. Mutiny. Sailors are covertly sabotaging the sewage systems (flushing T-shirts into the piping which then also fouls the pumps and valves).
Although that is a very quiet and covert form of rebellion …. but it is mutiny, and the powers that be have a BIG problem with the world re-shaping consequences that this particular mutiny is already having on the bad guy’s Grand Plan in the middle East and elsewhere. It’s hard to terrify their intended targets when they can’t even keep their own slave army in line and carrying out terrorism as ordered.

I would like to draw attention to the “invisible” (and devastating) part of this worst possible news for the US War Fighting Machine.
It is NOT just a matter of adversaries knowing the Air Force’s doctrines, policy, tactics (and more), which is already very bad just on the obvious face of it.
It is also that the adversary will INTEGRATE that huge advantage (we must assume the Chinese got everything, even if they missed some. Can’t take that chance) into their own doctrines, policy and tactics which we do NOT now know, even if we knew everything about those things prior to the big leak.
But even that isn’t the worst part.
The worst part is that the ONLY WAY way US Forces are able to function or fight AT ALL is contained in, and limited to, those self same doctrines, policies and tactics that are now unsafe to use because the adversary has them down pat, chapter and verse.
The US Air Force, to operate at all, depends utterly upon following those doctrines, policies and tactics to the letter… else chaos reigns and airplanes can’t even fuel up, take off or reach their targets.
Use the old (now compromised) system and get blown out of the sky, or DON’T use the system and never get off the ground. Damned if they do, and double-damned if they don’t.
That invisible catastrophe, in it’s basic form, applies to every other system that the bad guys depend on in order to function at all. If a situation falls outside of their secret internal rules book, then there’s not a damned thing they can do to fix it, because that secret internal rules book (on how to be a successful psychopathic anti-social criminal) is the only way they can co-ordinate their activities or get anything done.

As a kid there was a retired machinist on every block for miles in every direction with a home mini machine shop and they could make you any part you needed for any thing you owned for some good cigars and a six packet. :>)
