At least two full generations have been treated to this stultifying process of “words have no meaning” and “cause and consequence are separate and disrelated phenomenon that only “authorities” can explain to you by TELLING you what you should do about them, rather than you UNDERSTANDING what they mean and what you should do about them.

This one is for the finance wonks. There ARE still a few of you guys hanging around TAE aren’t there? Back in the day it was wall-to-wall finance wonks, but times (as you may have noticed) have changed.
Well, be that as it may they’re about to change back. At least temporarily, when the Dollar tanks, which has now officially started.
To wit, the major US banking behemoths have all publicly announced that they have reinforced their asset holdings substantially in order to withstand the (also acknowledged) alarming increase in defaulted loans and contracts on Commercial Real Estate (CRE), Residential Real Estate (RE), and Car Loans.
It is axiomatically obvious to all thinking business creatures that “substantially increased holdings” can only withstand increased losses for so long of a time as the holdings are MORE than the losses. In other words, when the cookie jar is empty and the wolf is still at the door demanding payment then there’s a problem.
That is EXACTLY what everyone else knows too, and so the question on everyone’s mind (including the bankers) is “How long can the “bolstered up” banks hold out against the swift rising tide of defaulted loans on key assets (like Commercial Real Estate, Residential Real Estate, and Automobiles). Those key assets, incidentally, are ALSO most of the “collateral” that the banking and financial system are predicated upon.
You do see the problem, Physical assets MUST be assigned SOME non-zero amount of monetary value or else the word “money” doesn’t really have any meaning, but if they have monetary value then they must be PURCHASEABLE for exactly that amount of money. It cuts both directions. It MUST work in both directions.
In other words, you CANNOT run the system in such a way that the “value” of either one (the real goods or the IOU money) are allowed to run wild all the way to zero or to infinity, while the other one doesn’t, either one. It would simply stop running at that point and all of the crooks who lived off of it would no longer have a system that they could bilk and cheat for a living.
It doesn’t matter a great deal whether or not you understand any of this in detail except as you might wish to protect yourself from it and its consequences, because the phenomenon itself is simply going to play out in full regardless of whether you understand it or not.
You can know in advance why you’re about to go broke, or you can let it catch you by surprise, but the end result is still going to be you being broke because that’s just what’s going to happen.
The most likely current scenario is that the banks who beefed up their asset holdings in preparation for the “developing” (such a mild word!) tsunami of defaults are already secretly buying up all the gold. silver and land that they can get their sticky fingers on. Those who haven’t done so yet are just screwed and can go straight to the poor house without passing Go. It’s a horribly complex ever-shifting game of calculated lies, counterfeits and skullduggery. Even the sharks avoid swimming in THAT tank.
When they have enough stockpiled gold (acquired by fair means and foul, but mostly foul) they will announce their unfortunate and unforeseeable failure and “collapse”, at which point the “Dollar” denominated price of gold and silver will exit the stratosphere on its way to the moon, and the banks will then SELL just enough of their gold and silver holdings (at those hyper-inflated prices) to enable them to clear &/or balance the paper money debts that were “killing” them back when a dollar was worth something. You don’t have to sell much gold to pay off a thousand dollar debt when gold is selling for a hyper-inflated million dollars an ounce.
Those sharpsters who are quick enough and adept enough at this ancient game to pull it off will then be almost magically “debt free” and yet still have enough leftover buckets of gold and acres of real estate (not to mention Re-Po’ed used cars) to buy up whatever they want at fire-sale prices, to get going again at the same stinking fool’s game when the dumpster fire stops smoldering.
So when the bank failures get announced and gold goes hyperbolic you will know that the Big Short has finally arrived. The Dollar’s ability to buy sound assets (like gold and farm land) will drop to near zero purchasing- power-power-per-dollar, and we’ll be broke. The guys who scooped up that gold and land, leaving the rest of us holding the bag will NOT be.

Ofir Bitton was named the Habana Labs driver maintainer following that but now he announced he too is leaving Intel.

I’ve noticed the same thing, Clean as a whistle windshield on the car after an hour on the highway, and in MISSOURI, fer cryin’ out loud! kale and cabbage virtually untouched by those bright green little worms that usually get more than half the crop. I’m literally stunned by the fact that can self-admittedly looks straight at a totally unacceptable reality (for example the two distinctly peculiar homosexuals, Obama and Macron, who are literally heads of state) describe that reality, give it a name, and then LAUGH as though the reality was somehow “funny” and made funnier still by the fact that a high Catholic Priest is the one drawing well deserved attention to the unacceptable fact that Macron and Barrack are butt-boys and ALSO running large countries.
There’s nothing funny about that. Outrageous, absurd, flamboyant and a lot of other really bad things for sure, but NOT funny.
So, yes, Dr Rich, the atrocities of pedophile priests were not done by “all” Catholics (am I to laugh ha, ha, ha at this point ?). People can be so funny. They can proclaim that they know all about psychopathy and evil and so forth and they admit that they know such people exist in large numbers in amongst us, and yet they act shocked and amazed when they actually meet one. It’s like the wide-eyed shock and amazement in the eyes of a child when for the very first time they SEE that Mommy or Daddy fucking LIED to them!
Yes. There are psychopaths. Yes they feel neither empathy nor remorse. Yes they would not be bothered afterward by killing you for some reason. Yes they are here on TAE, and they really aren’t that hard to identify. They tend to lie a lot (like WAY over average) and encourage others to hate and harm things that the hater hates and thus wants harm to come to it. They want YOU to do the harm so that THEY won’t get blamed for it. Pretty simple.
And the thing that psychopaths hate the most is the threat of JUSTICE being actually dealt out to them.
The saving grace of our species is that regardless of how badly we are raised or subjected to evil and abuse the vast majority of us still come out of it as fairly good (or we try to be) and sometimes even more so, like saintly.
