There’s gotta’ be some link, if I could just see it!

There is no link; there is only independence from:
    “Knowledge is power”
    “Money is power”
    “Financial control is power”
    “Oil is economy”
    “War for oil”
“Truth comes from the end of a rifle”

There is only freedom from that mantra; liberation to go where you can.
Fear is a thief; do not let it steal from you. Me.

“there are lots of people who devote their entire lives towards devising ways to make up your mind for you.”

I know people who think that it is only important if it is on TV.

Scott Minerd – “New monetary orthodoxy is likely to permanently impair living standards for generations to come…” Yes, and not just the monetary system. Our food (lovingly drenched in antibiotics, herbicides, pesticides, hormones), the air we breathe, the water we drink is now in the hands of a few whose sole purpose in life is profits.

“Martha Rosenberg writing in CounterPunch reports that 70 percent of all antibiotics are fed to livestock because it produces weight gain and saves money on feed costs. […] Scientists at the University of Iowa found Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in 70 percent of farmed hogs. A Consumer Reports investigation found that US meat, regardless of the meat’s source, is full of “pathogens, commensals, and antibiotic resistant bacteria.” Pork tested contained five resistant bacteria strains. […]

Rosenberg reports that “when the FDA tried in 2008 to ban farm use of cephalosporins (antibiotics like Cefzil and Keflex) because they are needed for pneumonia, strep throat, and other serious human conditions, the egg, chicken, turkey, milk, pork, and cattle industries and the animal Health Institute stormed Capital Hill.”

Congress responded to the campaign donations, not to the health and safety of the American people. The Animal Health Institute consists of the drug companies who make profits selling 70 percent of their production to meat, egg, and milk producers. The members of the “health” institute are Abbott, Bayer Healthcare, Elanco/Lilly, Merck, Boehringer, Ingelheim Vetmedica, Novartis, etc.

In other words profits come far ahead of public health.”

    Mr. Meijer
I write this with great respect for your thoughts. I am a composer not an economist. My only sin is that I did not take basic economy and typing in H.S. I was too wrapped up in music. But now I scour the web in search of insight and information.
Please my request is I read your blog constantly with some ignorance about what it is you address. But you are amazingly broad and I so appreciate. I go to others and they see such a rosy future like Barry Ritholz It astounds me.
My question where is the “truth” sorry to ask that but you do not see what he does it astounds me. I go to his site and cringe. Am I missing something.
All this is asked not annoy but just because I need help in finding my way. In all this.

I’m not sure what you’re asking. But when it comes to differences in predictions, what I can say is that many people out there are led by what they wish to see, instead of by analysis (no criticism of Barry, I haven’t read him for a while). If someone has a ‘nice’ lifestyle because he’s – literally or metaphorically – ‘invested’ in ”the system”, that will color his views. Not many people like to predict their own downfall.

As for my own writing, I think I’m still very cautious.
