While the Russian doctors who initially treated Navalny after he fell ill on a flight from Tomsk to Omsk (or was that the other way around?!) said he showed zero signs of poisoning. But yeah, they’re Russians, so they can’t be trusted, right? They all squander their Hippocratic oaths at the feet of the great malevolent dictator Putin.

Can’t the same argument be made about the german doctors? Someone is lying but we can’t tell which side at this point.

Our spooks invent Skripal and MH17 and Navalny and Russia collusion and prostitutes peeing on beds in Moscow.

Just because there is enough evidence to say Putin is not behind Skripal and MH17, it doesn’t mean he’s not behind Navalny’s murder or scare attempt. It doesn’t mean the opposite either.

Gotta think like a scientist, Ilargi, be open to all possibilities.

Nice essay, nonetheless, your main points are correct.

This is true. The question is, why do we even care? Who cares what putin does or doesn’t in his sphere of influence? I think we’ve got enough problems in our own to take care of.

No, the main point is, it doesn’t matter anymore. Even if a sliver of one story or another is true, all the other stories discredit it offhand. If someone tells you 100 lies, you won’t listen to no. 101. That the media report on it anyway is somewhat interesting, but no because of credibility. That’s shot.

    @Ilargi

I’ve felt that way since 2008. And the fact that they would lie about that made me question what in the past has the government lied about.

Look, I cannot tell the story in just a few paragraphs, it takes a library. But I think it’s important that people realize that these agencies, designed and paid to increase your safety, in fact do the exact opposite, because if they don’t, they imperil their own existence.

    Excellent essay Illargi.

Apart from the security services and the military industrial complex there is another aspect I would like to highlight though: Our growth based economies have run out of room for growth, and our highly leveraged financial system has run out of collateral.
Ours is literally a system based on “grow or die”, the situation is about to get desperate, it is truly late in the day.
So there you have it, in a single word: Lebensraum!

It is not about options, NATO si truly Das IV Reich, its mission to secure real estate to expand into, for Wall Street, The City of London, and all of the rest. And where & what else than “Drang nach Osten”, into the most valuable piece of real estate there is left: Russia!

War is coming. We will never see the beast of international finance lie down and die voluntarily. The beast demands to be fed, regardless of the consequences ..

The 1947 National Security Act indemnified criminal behavior in “peacetime” in the name of “national security”. Sociopaths rule. It’s “patriotic”. Lies become rabbit holes for those who think they can make sense of anything.
Put succinctly: ‘That’s not the way the world really works anymore,’ he continued. ‘We’re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you’re studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we’ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that’s how things will sort out. We’re history’s actors…and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do’.

This is attributed to Karl Rove.

The reality based community is sooo yesterday.

    Envy the Monk…

I agree with garob, that big finance is the engine driving the empire’s global ambitions. Corporations are next in line wanting to expand markets and increase the size of their monopolies. Militaries, intelligence agencies, NGO’s, and more recently the State Department are Wall Street’s weapons of choice, and even these want endless money and growth. I believe John F. Kennedy had voiced intentions to shrink one such agency before he made his fatal campaign visit to Dealey Plaza.

I recently came across this short clip of Putin explaining why US presidents come and go, yet policies remain the same. It seemed awfully relevant to this essay. I’ve been pulled a few different directions lately and can’t remember where I saw it, so I apologize if it was posted here on TAE and I just spaced it out.

Nailed it! I do not believe, for one scintilla of a second, there is any other game in the West’s/NATO’s ambitions: Russia’s vast wealth and most importantly its vast fresh water resources remain the main target…

Thoughtful essay, Raúl – I had an unproductive conversation with one of my lefty friends about NATO a few weeks ago. My point was much the same as yours. Charles Hugh Smith points out the ‘lifecycle of a bureaucracy’, that after a while the original mission is lost, and the sole purpose for the bureaucracy is to perpetuate itself. NATO is a 70-year old sclerotic bureaucracy that hasn’t updated its mission in the world in thirty years. But so many careers, so much money, so much cultural momentum is tied up in it that most people can’t bend its path or admit to themselves that it might not be necessary

    #62861

With the demise of the Soviet Union, NATO’s sole mission became making NATO appear important. That they ceaselessly use Russia to do that tells the entire story.

    Litvinenko

When you have exotic assassinations then you need to be suspicious.

[1] Litvinenko was accompanied at the cafe where he was poisoned by a criminal who was known to sometimes work for the CIA.
[2] Litvinenko was desperate for money and was trying to blackmail Russian oligarchs and the Russian Mafia
[3] Litvinenko is thought to have smuggled nuclear materials

    Three ways to die!

    MH17

It would take a long essay to point out the absurdities in the West’s story about this.

In short : The US has a system to detect any surface missile launch anywhere on Earth – they detected no missile launch when MH17 was downed. A BUK missile would have an exhaust visible for tens of miles and no-one noticed it!

It is most probable that a Ukrainian fighter fired a missile at MH17, and when it failed to destroy the plane they finished it off with a 30mm cannon.

    Skripals

    This is also suspicious :

[1] Skripal was a prisoner in Russia and could have been killed easily
{2] His crime was not great – giving the Russian military phonebook to the US
[3] Immediately declared as Novichok even though weeks later Porton Down admitted they had no clue what it was like.
[4] It was claimed that Novichok was more powerful than VX which means the perfume bottle would contain enough to kill everyone in Salisbury – 100,000 people!
[5] The Skripals have since been locked away in solitary confinement so they can not speak freely.

    Navalny

[1] Although lionised by the West he enjoys 2% support in Russia and is simply not important.
[2] As it was pointed out, if Novichok was used he would be dead, as well as several other people
[3] If he was poisoned it was most likely done by someone in Germany.

In all these cases you have to assume the Russian government is totally incompetent using bizzarre Keystone Kops methods which points the finger at them!
