    I just love that painting…

Now, I just learned a new radical thinker; Thomas Sowell; who’s not new, but new to me.
I fnd it remarkable that he’s not well known.
An amazing human well worth getting to know; here’s an introduction:
    https://russia-insider.com/en/its-not-just-san-francisco-and-portland-philadelphia-hellscape-too/ri26478

As an aside; I lived in Portland for almost 40 years and find the present city an alien entity; no relation to what was in my 40 years.
It’s transformation is mind boggling, to say the least…

    “Nadler’s ‘Obstruction’ Quest (WSJ Ed.)”

This is actually a legally bright article, I’m amazed it got published. Otoh, it hid its byline as “Editorial Board” so no one gets fired, then shot. By Congress and the FBI, if not fellow media editors.

“Michael Cohen Asked His Former Lawyer To Seek Pardon From Trump (WSJ)”

A guy who went to jail for lying to Congress, testified before Congress, and lied to Congress? You don’t say. I have to wonder what Trump’s paying him, but it’s so hilarious it’s worth it. PS, this is the 3rd (or 5th?) lie in this testimony alone. Wait ‘til you see his book. Ka-ching!

“Democrats Bar Fox From Hosting Primary Candidate Debates (AFP)”

So it’s not objective journalism to be FOR someone, but it IS journalism to be totally AGAINST someone? Gotcha.

PS isn’t it crazy how he “often refers to CNN, The New York Times, The Washington Post and MSNBC as “fake news.” Just because they’ve put out two years of articles which have now been discredited by the House, Senate, and Mueller, and are constantly retracting things like fake migrant pictures and fake chemical attacks? What a loon to keep track of how bad they fail and then tell us. Cra-cray.

“Monthly Income Lasts Just 19 Days For Over Half of Greek Households (K.)”

This is the Europe Macron wants more of. Now France’s Yellow Vests can party like the Greeks 10 days short of a month while Paris drinks wine with Jupiter.

“Italy’s Welfare Revolution Kicks Off As ‘Citizens’ Income’ Goes Live (R.)”

Count on instant inflation that normalizes through the system. This is exactly what Weimar did when they started printing union pay. In a year it will need to be increased again. There are two ways to stop this: one is to stop printing so prices stop rising. Two is to increase wages so they can afford prices inflated by money-printing. We always pick 3: print money to hand to banks and billionaires, then try to mop up the catastrophic damage done to the poor. The poor get poorer, the rich get richer, Perfect! Let’s enshrine it into UBI/Welfare law.

“Only around 30 of the creatures remain in the wild, in a corner of North Carolina”

This is the other consequence of printing money for the rich and driving people into building 100 years of houses they don’t need and can’t afford. All to make the rich richer. Then we can spend MOAR money mitigating the crisis we caused with cancerous growth. Step Three: Profit!

“…more than 400 types of bacteria on 275 pieces of microplastic collected from local beaches. They included bugs that cause gastroenteritis and wound infections in humans…”

I would think so. Almost any foreign bacteria will do that. Usual Eco-tactics, make s—t up in order to get people to care about stuff. Why? Because just telling the truth about plastics isn’t enough. We are going to MAKE you respond. If only I could lie enough! I will fix it all with more lies!

Pro tip: telling the truth is more persuasive than being discredited all the time.

Sorry V.Arnold I am not impressed with this Thomas guy in your link – reminded me too much of Margaret Thatcher (and that is not a good thing! in my books). Interesting though to see his description of urban decay- very vivid.

    V. Arnold. What happened to Portland is called progress. Same as the Unemployment office cartoon I closed with. Which is actually pretty brilliant. Of course you’ll soon see (or hear) a robot if you want support, it makes far more perfect sense than is comfortable. Did you notice the clock is at 5 to 12?

Well, if that’s progress, I want nothing to do with it…
Portland used to be a very livable city. I was last there on a visit in 2007; it wasn’t much different than when I left in 2003.

Actually, I didn’t notice the time on the clock, but of course saw the clock…interesting…

Margaret Thatcher??? Did you read the link?
Thomas Sowell didn’t write that article, but was quoted often by the author.
There was no Thatcher there; color me confounded…
