re: 15 minute cities
I was looking into it a bit more last night. This is actually an old concept from the USSR called Micro Districts.
I hunted around the internet and the historical pictures, diagrams, etc from the USSR look exactly what the 15 minute city people are presenting.
I found various current year videos of ambulances, firetrucks, etc beings stopped by blockades set up by governments to “experiment” with 15 minute cities. There was a hilarious speech by 2 govt officials insisting “we aren’t building giant steel barriers, these are just Traffic Filters” (while giving the standard Narcissistic Personality Disorder smirk)
I DID appreciate one particular Soviet project that placed the highways and parking underground. Rather than intrusive tracking and restricting via punitive law enforcement and physical blockade, they said “Here’s an infrastructure for you to drive on that also makes the surface pleasant and walkable” Holy cow what a concept. Doing something FOR people rather than locking them down and punishing them. Unimaginable.
