I so deeply empathize with your predicament vis a vis your efforts to help your beloved relatives (or anyone else, for that matter) only to be unobtrusively (or more blatantly) dismissed by them as not TRULY trustworthy.
What gives with that!? WHY would they not trust and use my competent and well intentioned help?
Many of my relatives have done the same thing regarding other important matters such as the Vax, Ukraine, Zionist genocide, even craven MURDER of and by child trafficking monsters who are OBVIOUSLY doing transparently wicked things in plain sight.
“What gives”, in fact and in truth, is that self-aware vicious criminals have taken full control of every aspect of our institutionalized civilization that matters. This is not a rhetorical, poetic, or metaphorical statement. It is a statement of plain fact.
We either deal with that fact effectively or we shall die, and God will be seriously disappointed in our performance as decent human beings.

There’s the technical issue with Boeing – and the nation – can’t physically return the astronauts from space.
There’s also the non-specialized decision-making. Like, competency to walk without tripping oneself while chewing gum? Competency to keep breathing? Positively 4th St.
I remember reading the articles about all the problems with the Boeing spacecraft, how it was stuck delayed on the launchpad. And then the articles saying “We haven’t fixed these problems but we are launching anyway”
And those same problems are being cited as to why they cannot return!
I’m NOBODY. I’m an undegreed unemployed call center worker whose main skills are being yelled at and parsing badly written process documents. But I would have been able to drill down on all the info, canvas all my people, and formulate a decision to not launch. Or just from the news articles.
And tell anyone above me to go fuck themselves, you launch it, I quit. I’ve never had the opportunity to whore myself out and get people killed accidentally on purpose for six figures a year, but I’d like to think I wouldn’t if given the chance.
That’s not a pat on the back for me. That’s an illustration of just how very VERY far we have sunk. I definitely, definitely should have neither more competence nor more integrity than someone in charge of launching a rocket.

If you have the right NIC, with management features (IDRAC), this is a real problem. Most consumer NICs won’t have IDRAC or similar, it’s server-space stuff. Some corporate-destined laptops and desktops will have this, maybe Dell Precision workstations for example. You can force a bad address on the IDRAC, or you can block it’s MAC address at your DHCP server so it can’t get an address. Also, power supply with a hard switch, turn it off and the machine ain’t talkin’ ta nobodies! (pull the plug for air gap) With laptop or phone, can be difficult due to battery non-removability.
There is another concern that just arose with ‘always on’ and I believe it’s been mentioned at TAE recently. The new Intel chips will have a set of ultra-low-power compute cores that will remain on, and this becomes harder/impossible to disable on laptops with glued-in batteries. It’s documented that these cores will have access to the PCIe bus, so can communicate with storage and network/wifi, and probably USB devices like cameras.
VM auto-login may be accomplished, haven’t tried this yet. Set the host to auto-login, and run KRDC at startup in fullscreen. You’ll still have a session running on the host, so if KRDC is exited, cron a script to detect the exit and automatically log off or shut the machine down. Also, giving novice users this setup is like giving them a Universe In A Box, can cause some amazing confusion.

JB, as far as I know, this is what I was talking about before, where life is a mere abstraction. However you want to put it, it is no longer “real”. Now I would think if you grew up in a real world (like before 1980), it would stick, but clearly it doesn’t. Everything we do, think, feel, is all…mental. Or controlled. For decades, generations.
If you’re out in the woods, no one’s talking to you. That’s classic Enlightenment Freedom. You are FREE to make a fire, or FREE to freeze to death, no one cares. You are FREE to complain about it if you like. But in this world there are no words, everything is REAL. You eat or you don’t. You work or you don’t. You’re cold or you’re not. That’s it. Nothing to say, no one to say it to. That’s where you have “Rights” because anything you do does not demand work (Slavery) from others.
And so it’s very hard to get any level that communicates this essence, because to a large extent even the “Real” is unreal: we perceive it in the mind, or consciousness, usually through a filter of words, even when it IS real, even when you ARE cold, alone, by a fire. But bear with me.
What has happened to people, the whole society, the whole West (and always has) is that our strength and weakness is to be hyper-mental and fiddling all the time. Writing books, making clocks, not sitting around sensibly like the Kalihari. So year after year, decade after decade, it’s just more words, promises, stories, abstractions, blah blah blah and every year further from childhood, further from being surprised jumping in a cold stream, more TV, more movies, more pundits, more junk mail until you forget about “real” altogether.
And then what? ‘Cause that’s pretty much where everybody is all the time; and for a change, even the poor who have free cable at home. Well, it’s ALL just words. That’s it. You’re a word, they’re a word, death ‘tis but a word. Nuclear annihilation is a word. Raping children is a word. Bad word, cold word, warm word, good word. Us word, Them word. Word, word, word.
So it only stands to reason WHO will be the preeminent WORD in life? Well, an authority, any authority as a king trumps a queen, simple math. About “Family”? Knowing someone? Local trust and familiarity? Just words. No reality, no – EMOTION – which is what part of that is. “The love of men grown cold”. You dying, or telling her you’re saving her life, or killing her I suppose, all words. The same. Criminals love this. No one acts or reacts. It’s all just words to them, so they can punch you, rape you, empty your whole house before you react like any NORMAL human animal would in seconds. “Don’t take my stuff; Im’a punch youse.” Good! That’s what human animals are SUPPOSED to do.
So that’s where you are in general society. There are people – a certain class, but DEFINITELY intellectuals, who are prone to this…lifting of their feet off the ground. And then there are people who are NOT, and keep their common sense and a touchstone to it, “Integrated”, mind and body NOT split, not separated, so that anything that happens in the mind is immediately cross-checked against …for lack of a better term, “Reality”. (as that “reality” is also a mental construct. But the point is to keep adjusting and honing it against sensory input daily, to keep it close and not abstract)
Now some smart people do this. And some dumb people do. And certainly there are the “Right” who just “fall down the rabbit hole” of abstractions and next thing you know Jews are putting white rabbits in my beer, and aliens are landing from the galactic council because the world wasn’t created yesterday now, actually there were no middle ages and ROME happened yesterday, that’s why there’s all these Tartarian buildings around – they just CALL it “Cleveland” to trick us, but nobody’s seen any proof ’cause the machine elves hid it all. Yes, they can abstract without proof too, but generally we know the types.
So your relatives, Covid? All this. Just words. They didn’t REALLY think they were dying, or they would have ACTUALLY acted to not dick-nose it and not gone to mass protests. They are WORD-dying instead. Abstract, pretend-dying, so they pretend-attack you in a fit of make-believe. Like that. I’m not sure how to stop it and neither does any other Buddhist to escape samsara and delusion, you have to WANT to. I think the Covid mRNA fake vax phucked up peoples brains in subtle ways.
It was hard to pin point but I noticed it first at the supermarkets and large chain stores.
No one really makes eye contact pushing their carts and if they do it’s kinda in a light semi=spaced out way.
Not overt Bumper Cars at the amusement park but no one passes on the right consistently, like cars pass on the right in Duh’merica.
The use to be a thing, most people coming towards you in a store passed on the right.
Imagine if everyone got up in the morning and just randomly decided to drive on a different side of the road depending on their mood.
In car that would result in mayhem.
But the Sheeple have been doing that in stores a lot since Clotshot time.
As a guest at military bases as a kid, I noticed that soldiers ALWAYS passed on the right in any building but also walking.
