Directors of hospitals in northern Israel say no one prepared them for 11 months ‘underground’ treating the wounded
More than 5,000 Israeli soldiers have been injured while fighting against Hezbollah near the Lebanon border since 8 October, according to hospital records from the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya and the Zif Hospital in Safed, Yediot Ahronoth reported on 27 August.
The Israeli newspaper said the directors of the two hospitals fear the fighting on the northern front will not end anytime soon. “Eleven months underground, and we cannot see the end,” the directors said.
The director of Zif Hospital, Salman Zarqa, said his hospital had treated about 450 Israeli soldiers wounded as a result of Hizbollah’s operations, even though “The days of the real fighting have not yet come.” “I’m not talking about operational incidents. Jonathan Cook, Hiding an Ugly Truth About Israel
Tony Greenstein offers an excoriating account of how Guardian columnist Jonathan Freedland distorted the historical record in his biography of Rudolf Vrba, the first Jew to escape Auschwitz.
One might wonder why Vrba’s incredible story has been buried for decades, given how keen Hollywood is to make Holocaust movies.
Greenstein explains. Vrba’s efforts in early 1944 to warn other Jews of their coming fate in the Nazi death camps were betrayed by European leaders of the Zionist movement, who silenced him.
That movement was prepared to sacrifice hundreds of thousands of Jews in return for the Nazis escorting the Zionist elite out of danger in Europe to Palestine. There the Zionist movement was already well-advanced in its preparations to expel the native Palestinians and build a self-declared Jewish state on the ruins of their homeland. The Zionists’ attitude reflected that of the movement’s founding father, Theodor Herzl:
“The anti-Semites will become our most dependable friends, the anti-Semitic countries our allies.” Vrba was hugely critical of the Zionist movement for collaborating with the Nazis, and had no love for the Jewish state it spawned.

It appears that the US-made F-16 fighter jet, which was handed over to Ukraine earlier this year, was downed by a Ukrainian Patriot air defense system in a friendly fire incident, Ukrainian lawmaker Maryana Bezuglaya said cited by TASS.
“According to my information, the F-16 of the Ukrainian pilot Alexey ‘Moonfish’ Mes was shot down by the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system due to a lack of coordination between the [military] units,” she wrote on Telegram.
The lawmaker criticized the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces for falsely describing the incident as “a crash.”…

How would the pilot have been killed, you ask?
I would think like so: when the initial missile launches were recorded, Ukrainian pilots were sent to begin scrambling the jets to the sky to keep them out of harm’s way, as is standard for both sides. They know the exact speed and trajectory of Russian cruise missiles and can calculate the precise time they have until the missiles potentially reach the airfield in the west of the country.
The problem is: they can’t calculate Kinzhals in the same way. While they were initiating scrambling procedures, Russia may have fired some Kinzhals which would have reached the airfield in as little as under 3 minutes. Such a hypersonic missile could have hit the hangars even as the Ukrainian pilots were prepping the jets.
All in all, it’s a testament to the fact that modern near-peer, high-intensity conflict is not about wunderwaffe and ‘game changer’ toys. There is no such thing as a golden bullet or unicorn weapon that can really move the needle in near-peer conflict.
