It reminds me of the recent Amazon “lord of the rings” fiasco, where into not-Galadriel, not-Elrond, and not-Gil-Galad’s mouths, their hack not-writers stuff pronouncements of how fighting evil makes everything eviler and worserer.
Tolkien understood how evil engages in doublespeak. The Orc torturing Frodo in Cirith Ungol yelling up to his cell about how he must be “up to something” as if HE’s the criminal. In the soy and prozac infused “hate has no home here” world of today that enables and supports evil, demonstrably, with a track record of decades, I completely appreciate someone who holds and shows some legitimate anger at evil, especially with some panache, as some of our posters have.
I see that the thread is contaminated with climate misinformation yet again.
I suppose the posters of this kind of misinformation will keep posting misinformation until they can’t…a bit like the nutcases who declare that Ukraine is winning in its dispute with Russai over the cold-blooded murder of Russian-speaking people (and others), and also a bit like the cabal of psychotic, fascistic, totalitarian sociopaths who pretend to be leaders of the ‘western world’ and who persist with off-the-planet narratives that -either by design or by sheer incompetence (I believe the former now)- make everything that matters far whilst engaging in futile attempts to prop-up unravelling Ponzi schemes;

After the Ukraine Is Over, Many a European Heart is AchingWhen the Zelensky regime falls, billions of dollars of Western arms and supplies will fall into Russian hands. The Kiev regime’s Western-incurred indebtedness to the West for arms and supplies over the last nearly nine years will be cancelled. US-exploited Kiev regime territory, 40% of the whole, will be taken back without compensation. This will be a small measure of compensation for the destruction that the US and its European vassals, including the Minsk I and Minsk II liars of Germany and France, have caused in the Ukraine, especially in the much-tried Donbass.
Apart from completing the liberation of the four provinces that it has taken back so far, Russia may also take back four more Russian-speaking provinces, those of Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk, Nikolaev and Odessa, so joining up with Russian Transdnestria.
A coup in Kiev could take place, as the remnants of the Kiev Army collapse and the new Ukraine could then even become a Russian ally, like Belarus, part of the Union State.
Whether the five far western provinces of the present Ukraine remain with the new Ukraine, or three of them return to Poland, and one each to Hungary and Romania, remains to be seen

What if the daily art went away, would this site be the same to/for you? I admit, I like it, look forward to it, and am attached to it being there. What if no more animal videos or cartoons? The soup kitchen updates deepen our connection with each other (if we want it) and provide a generous serving of hope and possibility. Everything in the middle is what fuels the daily gathering – powerful stuff, overwhelming at times – yet essential..
Same with the comments/commenters. They have a place here. Plus our host seems to let things flow with little interference – which makes time spent all the more potent.

Firstly, it is not Ukraine, it is NATO hiding behind Ukraine – the mask is the pretend persona of the real actor. Russia has nuclear weapons and is perfectly capable of totally destroying Ukraine, except that it is not fighting Ukraine, it is fighting NATO, so that would involve MAD.
NATO is now sending Patriot missiles to Ukraine which means that NATO is also sending troops to operate those missiles, possibly as fake mercenaries, which would be useless if left to the completely untrained Ukraine soldiers, if any still exist. NATO is getting more and more involved as Russia knew it would, so Russia is keeping its powder dry for the big fight, when NATO goes all in. The war has only just begun and you are already declaring the winner?
Russia has taken almost all of the land area of Ukraine that it wants, the remainder is now just a nuisance and we will see what happens, but you need to consider that the war is not over. Russia now needs to silence Ukraine but also needs to live with them as neighbours in the future, so a compromising stance would no doubt be their preference, except that NATO is not agreement capable so they will have to fight NATO into submission.
As the local Russia-bad sewer, spilling your nonsense onto TAE, even you must be wondering what Russia will do next.

In the year before Covid I had to calm down an argument – about to get violent – between three Russian men from Vladivostok and a Ukrainian man, all windsurfers staying at the same B+B at a windsurfing resort. The Russians were telling the Ukrainian how they would take back their land from Ukraine and avenge the deaths of the Russians being killed in Ukraine. Eventually, me and another man had to break up the extremely passionate verbal fight that was about to get physical. This was before Covid and I am sure that the people of Russia are now even more incensed with the Ukrainians. But dream on, you think the Russians were not aware that their fellow Russians were being killed by Ukrainians for eight years? You think they are that ignorant? Don’t underestimate your opponent.

We’re 17,000 years into our interglacial. Look at the chart and you will see that it went TEN DEGREES warmer and STILL went glacial after about that time frame.
Why do you assume you can control the climate? On what specific basis?

You’re picking where to start and averaging it out over all the years to ignore that sea ice has INCREASED recently.
And again, within the same approximate amount of interglacial time, you can see the CLIMATE going back into a GLACIAL PERIOD despite having been TEN DEGREES WARMER.
