Putin has finally put his foot down. Has he taken too long?

    No, I don’t think so.
In the game of life/chess one must allow the game/moves to proceed.
Reading the player opposed, is most critical; then it becomes known when the play must be made (aka putting the foor down).
Putins board moves have been pretty spot on so far, IMO…
My main concern is: who will follow this master when the time comes, as it will…

Pelosi described the deal as a “work in progress” that lacks worker and environment protections.

And this is because of Nancy Pelosi. Howard Dean, head of the Democratic Party, said back then that since NAFTA wasn’t working as advertised and the party was in danger of losing the working class vote (in WI, MI, and OH), that the U.S. should set a worker and environmental equivalency tariff. That is, we set tariffs on Indonesia, China, or Mexico, according to how closely their EPA and OSHA regulations match those of the U.S. This not only raises the lives of those workers and the planet’s ecology, but sets a level playing field and let the best man win.

Democrats like Pelosi broke their arm with the speed at which they pulled down this plan as outrageous, insane, and irresponsible. In a mere month, the very IDEA of having such a plan was unhinged, tinfoil hat, enemy-at-the-gates treason, and was never heard from again, nor Dean either.

So thanks, guys. Now that Detroit has ceased to exist and Flint has no water, your party may also cease to exist and dry up in irrelevancy for killing your constituents by the thousands rather than even debate something fair, reasonable that helps everyone worldwide.

Continuing: “No one thought the fallout would hit the bedrock of the lower-middle class, too.”

No, EVERYONE thought that, and shouted it from the rafters. That’s where LePen’s and Farage’s party comes from. They were just shouted down as ignorant, backward, racist Nazis, when, like Howard Dean above, much of what they were saying was obvious, 3rd-grade math and economics, so far below Econ101, so deep into common sense of supply and demand, you can’t even call it a “policy” or a “prediction.” It was like saying “water is wet.” This was just as true as those saying Cisco’s exponential growth that would equal all world GDP in 5 years, or that housing having quadrupled in 10 years at 6-10x wages … was a bubble. …Doesn’t take a genius, and you could read 100,000 of us online, at the Automatic Earth and Housing Bubble Blogs saying so. But “no one thought.”

Moral of the story: Propaganda works far, FAR better than honest reporting and facts. So well that facts almost need not bother – they don’t make any difference. As again today.

That’s how they can write this, “in all western countries, we have gone in a few decades from a system that economically, politically and culturally integrates the majority into an unequal society that, by creating ever more wealth, benefits only the already wealthy. The change is not down to a conspiracy, a wish to cast aside the poor…”

Let’s see: you’ve just said the poor and powerless are shoved into a system by the rich and powerful, which only increases the power of the rich and powerful. But that’s a big accident, and the wealthy do not advocate for their own interests at all, and never, by any means, have ever worked together to maintain this system that helps them by hurting the poor. Because no group ever advocates for their collective interests, that would just be “crazy.” Said with a straight face, using exactly the vocabulary reserved for exposure, protest, and revolution. Yes, they beat, imprison, and starve you, but it’s the divine right of kings. Poor Louis XIV, he means well, you have no idea the pressures…

Greek humans are now disappearing, and should be the envy of environmentalists everywhere. Perhaps they should enact the Greek policies on everyone, as they have been so successful in erasing population and reducing energy use and consumption? Oh wait: they are. They want this in Italy, a nation of 60 million, and Britain, with 63 million. …To say nothing of France, which is the cause of the riots. Nation by nation, soon enough they’ll have peasants raising rabbits in a collapsed city returning to brushland – like Detroit – and wealthy billionaires, living in a castle on the hill, defended by lethal drone-swarms, paid science and media, and professional spin-doctors and apologists like Guilluy. Neo-feudalism: A model for us all, and one big accident as it expands relentlessly, every hour of every day of my life.

Bag eyed loner, Mattis had to publicly say what he has to say. Public comments, majority of them do agree that there was a “collusion”, in that AFP article are even more scarier to me.
What an art treat this morning: 5 min masterpiece!

Great commentary as usual Dr. D – you simplify and make understandable a lot of info. Thanks for continuing to share your thoughts.

My understanding of “drain the swamp” is – get rid of the elites in gov. that are enriching themselves at the detriment of the working tax payer.

Will Trump be able to drain the swamp?
What will replace the present system of feeding at the gov. trough?
Is there a swap in other countries?
Are there “swamp drainers” in other countries?
Saudi Arabia? China? Turkey? Ukraine? Greece? Italy?

What about the latest movement in France?
Are the “gilets jaunes” in France going to become the swamp drainers?
When have there been swamp drained?
Where have the swamp been drained?
Are those countries that have had their swamps drained still functioning as intended (without a swamp)? (Cuba?)

…. traditional monarchs are not usually described as dictators in historical commentary. Also excluded from this list are those who held absolute power during national emergencies, but restored the rule of law soon thereafter….

Does “rule of law” mean that it is only for the little people and that the powerful and rich class are exempted?
Do the Americans think that their system of justice is above petty politics?

What does the battle to appoint Brett Kavanaugh suggest?
Those who make the rules of law make sure that they have a “get out of jail card”
