But people lost in fear LOVE FEAR. They have, by definition, lost their ‘minds’. So the way to bring them back is appalling to them. If you’re going lock yourself in your room, terrified of death, for GOD’S sake at least do it for something that will kill you, like the above, and car accidents. Covid is like being afraid of rattlesnakes and lightning strikes, and similarly 2 years of non-stop draconian attempts have proven they’re harder to avoid than lightning.

I mean, you get one or two of these as you move through any process things happen, but like 24 months of every decision making no sense and all of them increasing fear and numbers? Crikey. And Here we go again.

Surprisingly, we observed no significant difference between the SAR of Omicron versus Delta among unvaccinated individuals (Table 3). This indicates that the increased transmissibility of the Omicron VOC primarily can be ascribed to immune evasion rather than an inherent increase in the basic transmissibility…
On the other hand, although we showed that booster vaccines did offer some protection against household transmission, the reduced level of protection means that vaccination is less likely to be sufficient to curb transmission within a population. Furthermore, the duration of the protective effect is currently unknown, and the rapidly waning effectiveness of the second dose against the Omicron VOC as well as data from neutralization assays (14; 8) do raise some concerns about the longevity of the booster response. This means that the current vaccines are unlikely to mitigate the spread of the Omicron VOC to the extent that has been achieved for previous variants on the long term.
By the way, 99% of the vaxxed in this study had the mRNA injections.
Then there’s this finding:

I wonder why they showed “susceptibility” for Omicron and Delta individually, but for “transmissibility” they combined the data for both variants. (“Column 3 shows the transmissibility based on the vaccination status of the primary case, unconditional on the variant in the household.”)I found no mention of how they calculated “transmissibility” or what this really means.
This seem like a flaw in the study:
“Partially vaccinated individuals were regarded as unvaccinated in this study.”One of the limitations:
“Similarly, there are likely underlying behavioural drivers for an individual being unvaccinated, which are likely to confound with other risky behaviours that might be expected to increase both transmission and susceptibility to infection (e.g. poor use of face masks, reduced attention to hygiene).”That limitation could be minimized by this assumption:

Finally, someone who uses a positive word!I’m not sure if this interview has already been shared but just in case: infectious disease specialist at Hamilton Ontario McMaster Children’s Hospital gives a firm sensible take on the impact of covid restrictions on kids and also refers to the international comparisons clearly demonstrating that the outcomes for everyone globally are not improved by masks and lockdowns. She also calls out the media. I would imagine her workplace is probably not too thrilled with her right now.

Often…the best way to deal with overwhelming fear is to simply face it, to go through with it, and come out on the other side. (It depends on what is feared, of course, have to use some logic.). I remember how terrified I was when my mother contracted Covid, (and then my partner, and then myself.). But then…it passed, we were fine, and the fear had been faced and was gone.
This is the gift that omicron may give us all.
But then, there is my son’s fitness trainer…survived Covid and still terrified to catch it again. I don’t know the man well enough to identify why…maybe he just listens too much to MSM…?
