    You’ll like this.

I just flew home to Holland from South America. Back home I quickly developed cold/flu-like symptoms but with no fever. I phoned the doctor to find out if I should be tested for Covid19 and was told that they’re not testing any more, that I should stay at home and only seek help if I should develop a high fever and/or breathing difficulties.

So I asked how the RIVM (Dutch institute for national health and the environment) could possibly keep track of the spread of the disease if they’re not testing suspected cases, but the poor receptionist could only shrug her shoulders, “I don’t know,” she said.

Fox News is reporting that the price tag for the $6 trillion stimulus/bailout package may already be up to $10 trillion. At this point it really doesn’t matter how much money the Fed prints to fund this nonsense as soon the money will be practically worthless anyway.

According to the latest data of the Italian National Health Institute ISS, the average age of the positively-tested deceased in Italy is currently about 81 years. 10% of the deceased are over 90 years old. 90% of the deceased are over 70 years old.

80% of the deceased had suffered from two or more chronic diseases. 50% of the deceased had suffered from three or more chronic diseases. The chronic diseases include in particular cardiovascular problems, diabetes, respiratory problems and cancer.

Less than 1% of the deceased were healthy persons, i.e. persons without pre-existing chronic diseases. Only about 30% of the deceased are women.

Thank you for all your work Raul. Willis Eschenbach has looked at the contagion on the Diamond Princess https://wattsupwiththat.com/2020/03/16/diamond-princess-mysteries/
and the situation in Italy https://wattsupwiththat.com/2020/03/24/the-italian-connection/
    To quote him:
First, it lets us know what we need to do to prevent the Italian outcome. We have to, must, keep the virus out the medical system.
Second, it cautions us to not claim that everyone who tests positively for COVID-19 after death actually died FROM the disease. They may very well have died WITH the disease.
Finally, the other reason it’s encouraging that Italy’s infection is likely nosocomial is that it removes Italy as the mysterious bogeyman of the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, it points to just what we have to do.

Why is the Red Cross emailing me for financial contributions when a guy just up the street from HQ has a checking account with a $6T balance and a directive to spend it?

    #55984

    mary,

Italy as the origin was always just nonsense, apparently propagated by certain voices in China. Makes no sense in any which way, not even worth talking about.

What I do find interesting is the stories from soccer (football). On February 19, there was a European game between Atalanta Bergamo and Valencia that was played in Milan, 70 km from Bergamo. 40,000 Bergamese(?) traveled by car, bus, train to that game, hugged each other, drank lots of beers in bars etc. Today Bergamo is the epicenter of Italy’s tragedy.

And I looked this up this morning, and could barely believe the date: There was a Spanish league game in Madrid between Real Madrid and Barcelona, 76,000 spectators, as late as March 1 (!!!). Madrid is the present center of the Spanish outbreak.

Yes, because he keeps telling you there’s a cure, and you say he’s stupid. The cure keeps curing, and the media says it’s wrong. This just needs to run long enough to get the stimulus to win the election, and long enough to collapse the banks, the Fed, and reset the monetary system.
If you’re reading about the cure, same as I am, why isn’t there a cure? It doesn’t exist until all known liars, CNN, Maddow, Brian Williams, reports it from the moon? This is identical to the “14 day” quarantine when it’s been 40 since Jan 1. Nevermind WHO, CNN, just keep not reading, keep reporting known-false facts.

Food is carefully packed, and then loaded on the buses. Regular routes run are run all over the valley, and a teacher or counselor hands out meals to hungry kids standing in the gravel. One bit of regularity in an irregular time.

    polder dweller,

I don’t think there’s any doubt that not testing is a tactic used all over. Mostly perhaps because they can’t get the kits, which is their own failure from the past 2+ months, but also because it’s much more convenient. No testing, no cases. I’m sure for instance that the Scandinavian countries lowered their testing rates by a lot the past 2 weeks. Because their cases have fallen by a lot.

I’m watching Andrew Cuomo talking about why NY has such a high number of cases. International hub, people live close together, New Yorkers have so much humanity yada yada. But in the end, it’s dead simple: NY is testing, and the rest are not. If anyone sees -honest- testing rates from anywhere, I’m game.

    http://www.johndayblog.com/2020/03/forced-contract.html

The social contract in the US was worked out during Franklin Roosevelt’s administration, spanning the Great Depression and WW-2.
This social contract has been amended and corrupted many times, but generally assumes protections of freedoms guaranteed in the Constitution and a social safety net of some sort, so children don’t starve and die in the world’s richest country.
Roosevelt had enemies in the elites of his epoch, and there was a failed coup. He may have been poisoned.
Power elites do not willingly share. The role of power elites is to profit from the herd and cull the herd when it gets so big that it exhausts the resources upon which it relies for sustenance.
We are now in the reset of the economy, and necessarily, the reset of the social contract in the US. I don’t directly address other nations. Russia has a healthy social contract. China has a social contract which probably needs more work, but it is functional. India will have a hard time really creating a new social contract, as it has since the Brits left it internally divided.
The risks and benefits to the world from a renegotiated American social contract are great. Everybody’s watching.
It’s not all decided within the US at this point. Global wealth and powerful transnationals have a lot of say, and they speak powerfully, yet in hidden riddles, which the herd is not allowed to know.
We Americans still have The Patriot Act, which has eroded our constitutional rights. It did not time-out as promised.
The power to indefinitely detain without trial is now being requested by the “justice” department.
Freedom of speech is conditioned upon political correctness, which is defined by Zuckerberg’s Facebook.
This morning in Austin, one must be prepared to show a letter to a police officer, stating the social criticality of one’s travel to home and work. I did not print mine, but I have “good facts” to support me on my bike ride.
Freedom of association is now “virtual”, and subject to Zuckerberg, NSA, CIA, etc.
The new social contract is being imposed by power and financial elites through enforcement of public health measures, which have been amazingly effective in Austin on a voluntary basis, through the shared efforts of a community which has not been noticeably touched yet by the contagion. I support the voluntary public health measures, and have been very proud of Austin.
This is a grab to lock in absolute power by the overlords, who see that this is finally the big reset.
I’m a member of the herd. I see what this is. I don’t have sharp teeth, but I have my horns and my good health.

WUHAN’S OUTBREAK: CHINA DEMANDS AN HONEST ACCOUNTING
The following content is circulating in Chinese cyberspace.
Looks like China is finally in counterattack mode against relentless US efforts to blame it for the global COVID epidemic.
    Key points:
    • It is now virtually certain that COVID-19 was brought to Wuhan by American troops taking part in the city’s World Military Games last Oct. 18-27.
    • The 300-strong US contingent stayed at the Wuhan Oriental Hotel. It is located a mere 300 meters from the Huanan Seafood Market, where China’s outbreak began (see map below).
    • Five of the US troopers developed a fever on Oct. 25 and were taken to an infectious-diseases hospital for treatment.
    • 42 employees of the Oriental Hotel were diagnosed with COVID-19, becoming the first cluster in Wuhan. At the time only 7 people from the market were thus diagnosed, though they were treated first. All 7 had contact with the 42 from the hotel. From this source, the virus spread to the rest of China.
    • Back in the US, the American team had trained at a location near Fort Detrick, the military’s viral lab closed down in July for various deficiencies.
The big question now is whether the transmission was planned, or accidental. Chinese authorities are awaiting an explanation from US authorities.

    Well well…

UK coronavirus mass home testing to be made available ‘within days’

Thousands of 15-minute home tests for coronavirus will be delivered by Amazon to people self-isolating with symptoms or will go on sale on the high street within days, according to Public Health England (PHE), in a move that could restore many people’s lives to a semblance of pre-lockdown normality.

[..] The UK government has bought 3.5m tests, which the health secretary, Matt Hancock, mentioned on Tuesday with no suggestion that they would be available to the public so quickly, and is ordering millions more. Asked if they would be available in days rather than weeks or months, Peacock said: “Yes, absolutely.” If there was a charge for them, she thought it would be minimal, she said.

Widespread availability of a fingerprick test that produces results in 10 to 15 minutes is a game-changer. NHS doctors and nurses with symptoms will know immediately whether they have – or have recovered from – Covid-19, enabling them to get back to work sooner.

The UK is not the only country ordering in the antibody tests. “Tests are being ordered across Europe and elsewhere and purchased in south-east Asia. This is widespread practice. We are not alone in doing this,” said Peacock.

What are the odds that Ye Olde Chuckie was tested this way?

Update on the Boeing soap opera:

Boeing has options to federal bailout, CEO says
By the Leeham News Staff, March 25, 2020

    https://leehamnews.com/2020/03/25/hotr-boeing-has-options-to-federal-bailout-ce

First, Boeing CEO David Calhoun said he wasn’t an insider (after 10 years on the Board of Directors, and as lead director for many of them). No, he merely had a front row seat in the movie theatre. Then he trashed his predecessor, Dennis Muilenburg, for stock buyback and dividend policies (that the Board approved).

Next, Boeing said it needs a portion of the $60bn in federal aid it requested for the aerospace industry.

Now, Calhoun appears to have put his foot in his mouth again. Or did he? When asked about the possibility of the government taking an equity position in Boeing as a condition to a bailout, Calhoun said Boeing has options to federal money.

The Wall Street Journal wrote yesterday, “I don’t have a need for an equity stake,” Boeing CEO Calhoun said Tuesday on Fox Business Network. “If they forced it, we’d just look at all the other options, and we have got plenty.”

There’s a very practical reason for Boeing to object to government taking an equity stake. It would effectively shut down bidding on some key defense contracts.

But wait a minute: if you’ve got all these other options, why ask for a federal bailout for Boeing?

    Ilargi,
You did not ask me, you asked John. However, I will put in my thoughts re: chloroquine. It is the only thing on which I have reached a personal conclusion in the whole coronavirus drama. I will not take it, should I get covid19. I have told my children this, and hope that they remember should the need arise and I can’t speak for myself.

My conclusion is based on reading quite a number of articles about it in the past couple of weeks. The Chinese tried it for awhile with some initial success, but as time went on found it problematic and strictly reduced its usage for Covid19. Chloroquine has serious side effects which ought to be considered before the patient accepts the drug. For me, with my existing eye problems, age, and history of drug sensitivity, it is simply not worth the risks. I can only recommend that everyone do some serious research on their own and decide for themselves.

Here are some paragraphs from an article that is a fairly good summary of all the info I have discovered about this medication. Please also do note, as pointed out in this article, that Chloroquine is not to be used in conjunction with antibiotics such as azithromycin [Zpak, it’s called in the US]; I am not sure why Trump and others keep blabbing about using the two together as a treatment.

    From article:

The drug touted by the U.S. President Donald Trump as a possible line of treatment against the coronavirus comes with severe warnings in China and can kill in dosages as little as two grams.
China, where the deadly pathogen first emerged in December, recommended the decades-old malaria drug chloroquine to treat infected patients in guidelines issued in February after seeing encouraging results in clinical trials. But within days, it cautioned doctors and health officials about the drug’s lethal side effects and rolled back its usage.
This came after local media reported that a Wuhan Institute of Virology study found that the drug can kill an adult just dosed at twice the daily amount recommended for treatment, which is one gram.
As the drug hasn’t been approved by the U.S. Food And Drug Administration to treat the disease known as Covid-19, the Chinese experience may be useful as the American regulator studies the medication which has been endorsed by Trump as well as Tesla Inc. chief executive officer Elon Musk.[…]
Chloroquine was among the first group of therapies Chinese scientists identified as being effective in curbing the new coronavirus. Clinical trials on about 130 patients demonstrated the drug’s ability to reduce the severity of the illness and speed up virus clearance, according to China’s Ministry of Sciences and Technology.
Chroloquine phosphate was officially recommended on Feb. 19 in the Covid-19 treatment guidelines published by China’s National Health Commission, along with a few other drugs such as AbbVie Inc.’s Kaletra and flu drug arbidol as antiviral treatments for patients. The commission recommended no more than a 10-day course of chloroquine for adult patients at 500mg — half a gram — twice a day.[…]
China’s recommendation to use chloroquine in treatment was quickly followed by a warning.
Two days after the treatment guideline update, health authorities in Hubei province — China’s worst-hit region where the outbreak started and which accounted for majority of its over 80,000 patients — asked hospitals to closely watch for, and immediately report, any adverse side effects of chloroquine phosphate, according to a report in local media outlet The Paper.
The drug is known to have short-term side effects such as nausea, diarrhea and tinnitus while long-term use can irreversibly impair eyesight. It’s forbidden for pregnant women as it can cause congenital defects in babies.
China Health Commission revised the dosage in a Feb. 29 notice tightening chloroquine use. The drug cannot be given to pregnant women, those with heart disease, terminal liver and renal disease, retina and hearing loss and patients on antibiotics such as azithromycin and steroid.
It can now be given only to patients between 18 to 65 years of age for a seven-day treatment course. Patients weighing over 50 kilograms (110 pounds) can take 500mg twice a day — the usual dose — while those weighing less will be administered the drug just once a day after two days of use, according to the latest guidelines.
A woman in Wuhan proved how lethal chloroquine can be when it’s taken beyond the recommended dose. On Feb. 25, Shanghai-based The Paper reported that she took 1.8 grams of the drug she ordered online after suspecting she had the coronavirus. She did not, but the drug caused her to develop malignant cardiac arrhythmic, which can cause sudden death, and she was admitted to the intensive care unit.

Virus drug touted by President Trump, Elon Musk can kill with just two gram dose

The entire article is not very long, and I have not excised much of it.

Senate aid package quietly carves out billions intended for Boeing, officials say
by Aaron Gregg, Jeff Stein and Josh Dawsey, Washington Post, Updated: March 25, 2020- 1:41 PM

WASHINGTON — Lawmakers have inserted a little-noticed provision in the Senate’s $2 trillion stimulus package aimed at providing billions of dollars in emergency assistance to Boeing, the aerospace giant already under fire for deadly safety lapses in its commercial jets, three people with knowledge of the internal deliberations said.
The Senate package includes a $17 billion federal loan program for businesses deemed “critical to maintaining national security.” The provision does not mention Boeing by name but was crafted largely for the company’s benefit, two of the people said. Other firms could also receive a share of the money, one of the people said. The people spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive internal deliberations.

The carve-out is separate from the $58 billion the Senate package is providing in loans for cargo and passenger airlines, as well as the $425 billion in loans it is allocating to help firms, states, and cities hurt by the current downturn. Congressional aides cautioned the Senate bill was still going through last-minute revisions and could change.

I’ve been working on making links- all I get is unpostable html. Please try and check out the “evolutamente” site- the articles are a fascinating read concerning vitamin c, melatonin, nitric oxide, etc.
They are a bit too medical for a non-professional like myself, but the MDs here might enjoy them.

teri: thank you. What we see is that the risks of ‘quine” drugs are well known, even regarding use with CORVID-19. It is ready to be used — in hospitals, under close supervision, as a powerful adjunct to ventilators and such. Judging it by its riskiness as home-taken medicine is judgment too harsh.

During the video conference last week with Trump and Fauci, when I foamed at the mouth, my foaming was because they exacerbated the problem. Trump jumped the gun (which of course he would, being a seriously mentally il person), but Fauci totally botched his end. He offered the vaguest information which would of course inspire over-reactions both ways: too cautious for those who tend to trust mainstream media and authority, and too bold for their opposite.

It still is the most powerful effective therapy outside of a prolonged ICU stay that we know of.

Thanx again for the detailed info.

LIkewise, thanks Dr. D Rich for the provided link.

“I’ve been working on making links”

    Here is what I do
1.Left Click your mouse In the box where you see https://www
    2. It will turn color. It means that you just selected all that is in blue
    3. Now you got to copy that blue, You do that by holding the ctrl key down and hitting the letter C
    4. Go to where you want to copy and hold the ctrl key down and hit the letter V
If that don’t work then google what to do for your kind of computer..

Pentagon orders 60-day troop freeze: report

Defense Secretary Mark Esper has ordered a stop to all troop movement overseas for 60 days to attempt to curb the spread of the coronavirus in the military, according to multiple outlets.

The stop movement order will apply to all U.S. forces, civilian personnel and families — including those scheduled to return stateside and those scheduled to deploy — with some exceptions, Esper first told Reuters on Wednesday.

The drawdown underway in Afghanistan will continue, Esper said.

There are 227 service members, 81 civilian employees, 67 dependents and 40 contractors who have tested positive for the illness COVID-19.

To slow the spread in its ranks, the Defense Department also on Wednesday raised the military’s health protection level to its second-highest setting for all military installations globally.

Over a week ago my 19 year old daughter likely came down with a mild dose of the coronavirus. She had just returned from attending university in downtown Toronto, clearly a hotbed. She seems fine now.

We are still unsure about my 23 year old son if he had it or not. Naturally we will never know because Ontario doesn’t test non travellers.

Unfortunately today my wife is running a fever and experiencing tightness in her chest. Not good. She is the one person in our family who is most vulnerable to any virus in her lungs. She has had many lung infections in the past.

When she was born, she was born without an esophagus. This genic defect also came with being very hard of hearing. About 50% of children born without an esophagus suffer hearing loss.

She spent the first 2 years of her life at Sick Kids in Toronto. She is one of the very first babies in the world to survive after having a leg vein used to create an esophagus. The only thing missing is the check value at the top of her esophagus. The top of our bed mattress is elevated with a few bricks to help keep her from being completely horizontal when sleeping.

Likely these early operations are the reason why her lungs are so vulnerable to infections.

For now we wait and hope.

WES, I forgot to add my money is on you, Dr. D, zerosum and not least boscohorowitz.
Persevere ‘coz the time devoted is worth knowing a trusted ally joined the battle at your shoulder.
I can identify with your struggle having raised a son through young adulthood…a son missing a lung and half his diaphragm. Life unexpectedly prepares us for these unexpected moments in time. Sometimes the sweetest music is hearing his breath through the quiet night. I wish the same for you.

Dr. D Rich, have you read a book called Peace Like A River? Very very good book (fiction) imo, with a severe asthmatic as narrator.

I know it’s cornball, WES, but I’ll pray for your wife. I don’t know if I believe in “intercessionary prayer” or not, but I know that the effort itself can cheer a person to know someone thinks enough about them to ask the sky to likewise think about them.

Yes, I can’t keep my mouth shut.

I agree that the high death rate of 6% or higher is associated with the Wuhan Coronavirus getting into the healthcare systems. Wuhan city, Iran, Italy and Spain are all cases of this. Seattle’s nursing home hotspots are a more localized case. The low death rates, China outside of Hubei Province, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Germany are all associated with intensive virus testing and contact tracing. Recent reports indicate that the virus does not mutate frequently.
    https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/the-coronavirus-isnt-mutating-quickly-suggesting-a-vaccine-would-offer-lasting-protection/2020/03/24/406522d6-6dfd-11ea-b148-e4ce3fbd85b5_story.html

The USA will be pock marked with hotspots due to the lack of federal direction, foresight and money plus plutocrats intentional flushed the US federal government down the drain leaving public health up to the 50 states. In two weeks or less, the hotspots will explode and the USA will be the center of the global pandemic.

This is a Social Darwinian disease that is proceeding onward to kill millions until Pharma’s jackpot treatment is found. I must keep repeating that the only way for the USA to end the pandemic now is to do what Asia and Germany are doing; restore the national public health system, require universal paid virus testing, quarantine the infected (asymptomatic and ill) and release people from quarantine with two consecutive negative tests. Buy empty apartment buildings and motels to house the infected if they don’t have safe shelter. The healthy will restore the economy.

Thanks Dr. D Rich and Bosco!

Right now I am just taking things one step at a time. Hoping it is just normal flu.

If she starts having any more difficulty breathing, I have told my 2 kids be prepared to drive her to emergency. Both are home through weekend so that is good. Two drivers plus two cars.
