I’m an occasional doom-monger myself, but Michael Reid and Dr. D have set the bar really high today. Still, I’ll give it a go.
It seems that a lot of the readership, like me, isn’t keen on getting the vaccine – and for good reason. However, I wonder how many of you are really like me in knowing absolutely no-one personally who has not either already had the vaccine or who plans to get it in the next few weeks. In my circles, I am in a minority of one. Taken to the extreme as suggested by Michael, that means that within just a few years absolutely everyone I know will be dead including wife and daughters. Yippee, I’m still alive! … Oh shoot. That doesn’t sound like too much fun to me. In addition, I can’t believe that if within the next, say, five years something like 50% or more of the population kicks the bucket, that the country will continue to function in a stable way, especially with the Chinese banging on the door.
Maybe I’m just going to have to bite the bullet and get the vaccine, at least I’d be in good company.
When the ‘senior care home’ owner brushed off my comment about reporting the four deaths in the VAERS database I was given the impression that this was never done. I believe he runs two homes, one with men and the other with women. Assuming he has six clients per home, four vaccine-related deaths would equal 33% of his clients.

I am fortunate to know several who will not get the vaccination.

I’d like to see the calculations behind that. During a Covid infection, the number of viruses in the body is estimated to peak at somewhere between 1 billion and 100 billion. Each individual virus has many spike proteins.
We estimate that each infected person carries 10^9-10^11 [1 billion -100 billion] virions during peak infection, with a total mass of about 1 μg-0.1 mg, which curiously implies that all SARS-CoV-2 virions currently in the world have a mass of only 0.1-1 kg.

I haven’t seen any clear information about how many molecules of mRNA are in each dose, and how many spike proteins can result from each mRNA molecule.

When I think of the astonishing technology involved in these injections, I wonder where else it may be deployed, and it gives me waking nightmares.
Interestingly, I was trying to dig up any news on current fertility frustrations on DDGo. Maybe my mind is closing, but I didn’t see a single one I wanted to visit. @Polder Dweller: at my workplace of about 100 persons the vaccine defiance is at least 50% or higher. So there are pockets of resistance. In our case it is driven by a combination of factors: mostly conservative politically, people were acutely aware of the media bias against Trump and thus were quick to spot inconsistencies in the narrative and recognize the way in which the masking and vaccine policy were being used to political ends, not purely for health reasons (for a while a friend of mine was wearing a mask with a message printed on it: “This mask is as useless as my Governor”). We also have a sizable group of ethnic Russians, and they can smell a totalitarian roll-out a mile away – they’ve already lived under it, literally. And of course I’ve been quietly talking to people in small groups about what is coming, and as bits of that materialize it reinforces skepticism.

This article gives some details about the number of mRNA molecules are in each dose of Pfizer’s vaccine.
Each dose includes 30 micrograms of RNA.
The RNA’s digital code has 4,284 characters.
If the author’s calculations are correct, then there are 13,000 billion (or 13 trillion) RNA molecules per dose.The BNT162b2 mRNA vaccine has this digital code at its heart. It is 4284 characters long, so it would fit in a bunch of tweets… A 30 microgram dose turns out to actually contain 30 micrograms of RNA. In addition, there is a clever lipid (fatty) packaging system that gets the mRNA into our cells… Each RNA character weighs on the order of 0.53·10⁻²¹ grams, meaning there are around 6·10¹⁶ characters in a single 30 microgram vaccine dose. Expressed in bytes, this is around 14 petabytes, although it must be said this consists of around 13,000 billion repetitions of the same 4284 characters.
The same article mentions that each of those mRNA molecules can be used many times by the cell (to make spike protein) before it degrades and gets discarded.
The very end of mRNA is polyadenylated. This is a fancy way of saying it ends on a lot of AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA…

That sounds like a lot healthier situation than here in Holland where people are jumping the queue to get their shot just a few weeks earlier than the other guy and everyone seems to believe everything that’s said on TV about the virus and the vaccines as if it’s God’s honest truth. Everyone (I know at least) also believes that the sooner everyone gets vaccinated the sooner we can all get back to normal. I’m expecting massive cognitive dissonance in the autumn when things work out a little differently.

Inspite of emergent need, no authorized vaccines have been approved for clinical use against this new virus currently. After the genetic map of SARS-CoV-2 was shared, scientists and biotech and vaccine companies promptly launched a race to pursue different types of vaccines to prevent illness from this novel virus.I just noticed that a couple of my links don’t work.
