Recent reports of suspected war criminals living openly in Canada follow a November Jerusalem Post series calling Canada a “near-blissful refuge” for Nazis.
Steven Rambam, a New York private detective working with two Post reporters, located about 150 suspected war criminals in Canada, often by looking them up in phone books.
Masquerading as a professor from a fictitious American university, Rambam, a former member of the Jewish Defense League, secretly taped interviews with a former Lithuanian police chief who described in chilling detail his part in the execution of 5,000 Jews.
Meanwhile, the German TV program “Panorama” reported last week that 50,000 war criminals and members of army units who participated in atrocities were receiving monthly bonus pensions, ranging from hundreds to thousands.
The so-called “victim pensions” are added to the pensions of those who suffered World War II-linked disabilities, or to their dependents.
Although a 1950 German law excludes war criminals living abroad from getting such pensions, the law is apparently not enforced in Canada or the United States.

Though Canada played an outstanding role in the Allies’ success in World War II, a number of Nazis who committed war crimes against Canadians fighting overseas were allowed later to immigrate here and remain unpunished.
The Canadian Armed Forces held post-war trials in Germany. But further prosecutions were to be handled by the British military. They were soon stopped. And Canada failed to bring to justice any of those accused against the Canadian military even when some were later found living here.
Historian Alti Rodal says this is part of “Canada’s complicity in crimes against humanity.”
Strong charges, especially since Rodal was chief historian for the 1986 Deschenes Commission of Inquiry on War Criminals. She wrote a 580-page report on how Nazis were virtually welcomed into Canada and how successive governments ignored allegations of war criminals among them.
A federal government consultant, Rodal is currently writing a book based on her findings and new research – Other Priorities, to be published by Malcolm Lester Books.
Though Justice Jules Deschenes called for wide distribution of her report, Ottawa first buried it, then released it heavily censored. Even the bureaucrats must have been ashamed of its evidence of authorities caving in to pressure, of racist political decisions, and of investigators’ incompetence. Other historians have since pursued the story. Here’s just part of what Rodal and others uncovered:
In 1948, the government agreed to a top-secret deal with Britain to stop all war crimes trials and turn their focus to the Cold War with Russia.
According to John Loftus, former prosecutor for the U.S. Nazi-hunting unit, the idea of bringing Nazis to North America came from double agent Kim Philby, a Communist mole highly placed in British intelligence.
Philby’s scheme was to create an anti-Communist network in the West, then to sabotage their efforts by reporting their plans back to Moscow. Canada was the destination for the Nazis, wrote Loftus as 1991 co-author of Unholy Trinity.
Politicians were successfully lobbied to accept Nazis as immigrants by an umbrella group of Canadians of German background, says Rodal.
By 1951, former members of the Nazi party were admitted to Canada. By 1955, members of Hitler’s murderous elite SS force were accepted. Other groups of immigrants were granted waivers by the immigration minister, again following intense pressure from people representing huge voting blocs in Canada, says Rodal.
Latvians, Lithuanians and other East Europeans were accepted under “bulk labour programs” with no attention to their wartime military activities.
Special dispensation was granted to former members of Waffen SS groups who fought alongside the German Wehrmacht – without scrutiny.
A number of alleged French Nazi collaborators got ministerial waivers after a campaign by influential members of the Quebec elite, Rodal says.
Bob Keyserlink, a University of Ottawa history professor who did immigration screening in Bonn, Germany, in the early 1950s, says officers were given the attitude to “forget the past” when interviewing applicants.
“If he told you he was an SS officer and the regulations allowed members of the SS, that’s all we asked. It was up to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police to do a security screening.”
But RCMP staff sent for the task had, Keyserlink says, “a Grade 10 or 11 education” and backgrounds in jobs like highway patrol. “They didn’t know a Hungarian from a Bulgarian. They didn’t ask the right questions.”

For Canadian veterans who were war crimes victims, getting out the story of why justice was denied them is an appropriate tribute for future Remembrance Days.

This, coming from Turkish sources, says that the Russians retaliated to the Sevastopol destruction by staging their own cruise missile attack on the Kremenchug Airport, the launch site used by the Ukrainians. “Both SCALP and Storm Shadow missiles, which were stationed at the airbase, along with the SU24M/MR bombers responsible for today’s attack, have been detroyed. A substantial number of firefighters and ambulances have been dispatched to the airfield. There are significant casualties among pilots, ground personnel and even NATO personnel, including Poles, who were involved in coordinating the operations and maintaining the missiles.”

This all suggests an additional reason for Biden to consent to shipment of the ATACMS missiles to Ukraine now: unlike the Storm Shadow, they are launched from the ground on mobile launchers similar to HIMARS. Therefore the loss of airfields and bombers and pilots does not constrain their use and holds the promise of more destuction of Russian assets in Crimea. I would also wager that US forces will be sent not just to maintain but to target and launch the ATACMS.LUGANSK (Sputnik) – A Russian reconnaissance team has destroyed a German-supplied Leopard tank of the Ukrainian military with a crew comprised of Bunderswehr soldiers.
“The mechanic repeatedly stated that he was not a mercenary but a Bundeswehr serviceman, and that he and the rest of the crew were members of the same unit of the German army,” the Russian fighter said, adding that while receiving medical aid, the German soldier named his brigade and its dislocation site.

Both Russia and the West have released only carefully selected news about military developments this past week. The omissions distort perceptions of the decision-making processes that are carrying us along to WWIII…
..This past week witnessed a successful Ukrainian attack on the general staff building of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol, Crimea. The building was set alight and the destruction was apparently extensive. We can only guess at how extensive from terse statements made by the civil Governor (effectively the mayor) of Sevastopol, which is by itself a ‘subject’ or region of the Russian Federation. He said that firefighters had worked for several hours to bring the fire in the building under control. Moreover, debris from the missile strike was spread to a distance of several hundred meters. The Governor warned city residents to stay away from the city center, so as not to hamper the work of emergency crews and not to fall victim to possible follow-up missile attacks. One clue to the level of destruction was a small article on today’s Russian news ticker that a miracle-working icon in the staff building had itself miraculously survived the attack. As for human casualties, the Governor mentioned only one serviceman who is not accounted for. The Russians did officially identify the attacking missiles as British manufactured Storm Shadow air-to-ground cruise missiles.
A devastating attack on staff headquarters and only one victim? That should tip you off to what you will find only on a very few essentially underground Russian websites: namely that the Russian naval staff had been evacuated from the museum-like headquarters building long ago and is working normally from underground premises at unknown locations.
So far, up to the present, Russian state television has had no coverage of the missile attack on Sevastopol. We shall see whether it is discussed in the News of the Week program hosted by Dmitry Kiselyov this evening.
As for the West, it took two days for government news managers and editors of the mass media to decide on the ‘spin’ to give their publics with respect to the missile attack on Sevastopol and the separately reported surprise decision of the Biden administration to ship to Kiev the long demanded ATACMS medium range cruise missiles. As recently as midweek, during Zelensky’s visit to Congress and to the Oval Office, Jake Sullivan told reporters that this issue has been withheld for the indefinite future. Is there no connection between the Sevastopol attack and the go-ahead for ATACMS to Kiev? That means the public has no understanding whatsoever of how and why the United States is being drawn deeper and deeper into the Ukraine quagmire…
..A subtitle to this article informs us that “Washington will send a version of the weapon that uses cluster munitions, according to people familiar with the matter.” Now what is the fairly transparent message here? It is that Washington is supplying Kiev with rockets suitable for continuation of its terrorist attacks on residential neighborhoods in the Donbas as the Ukrainian forces are pushed further West by Russians in the coming Russian offensive that Pentagon officials understand is coming now that the Ukrainian counter-offensive is kaput. These cluster bombs are not going to sink Russian naval vessels in Sevastopol harbor…

I say this with reference to the Russian response to the Storm Shadow attack in Sevastopol that occurred within hours of the blast at the staff headquarters: namely they used a swarm of nearly invisible and unstoppable cruise missiles to devastate the Kremenchug airfield from which the attack on Crimea had been launched…

Finally, I come back to the news item I mentioned yesterday on Russians finding the crew of a Leopard tank they destroyed in the battlefield this past week to have been regular Bundeswehr servicemen. My colleague in Germany informs me that as of today there has not been a word about this in Germany. However, there soon will be. From the unofficial news portals in Russia, I see that the Kremlin has every intention of bringing this scandal to the attention of the broad German public in the hope that it will touch off popular demonstrations against Scholz.More Doctorow here, but I want to shade his assessment differently. Europe is being starved of Russian fuel and forced to adapt to that. Plastics manufacture and chemical plants have had to shut down without natural gas, and everything costs more. Oil and diesel from Russia are being purchased through India at higher prices. It seems to me, and I can only speculate, that after Russia failed to collapse economically a lot of things have happened which may not have been planned ahead by anybody who lay the initial bear-trap.
As to the destruction of European agriculture, I don’t think that is the globalist business plan, either. Monsanto owns something like 28% of Ukrainian farmland by a recent estimat (there are others). Much of Ukrainian grain is now owned by globalist and US interests. Their usual business model would be served by driving Polish and Czech farmers out of business, maybe buing their land at some deep markdown, rinsing and repeating. They would want to monopolize, supersize and “modernize” European farming.

I have in mind the dramatic spat between Poland and Ukraine over that country’s grain exports which was brought before the world media and diplomatic community at the United Nations General Assembly this week.
On the dais of the General Assembly, President Zelensky slammed unnamed East European countries which a week ago defied the EU’s lifting of a temporary ban on Ukrainian grain entering the EU on the 15th and said they will unilaterally continue to refuse entry of these commodities. Even before his UN appearance, Ukraine had said it will take the offenders, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary, to court at the World Trade Organization for violation of trade rules.
For his part, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki responded on Polish television, saying that his country will no longer supply weapons to Ukraine. Jaws at the editorial board of The Financial Times and other mainstream Western media dropped upon hearing this decision. As we all know, Poland has been the most ardent supporter of the Ukrainian war effort, prodding other EU members to do their part.
Poland has taken in by far the largest number of Ukrainian refugees from the war. It has supplied substantial amounts of military materiel to Kiev from its own arsenal. And Poland has been the main transit country delivering NATO weapons and munitions to Ukraine from its domestic marshalling points across the border from Lviv.
No one had any doubts why the Polish government has done this policy reversal: it is facing a close election in less than a month and it needs the full support of Polish farmers to achieve a win. Those farmers have been demonstrating vociferously against the Ukrainian grain entering the country ostensibly for destinations abroad but de facto remaining on their home market and being sold at prices far below the Polish farmers’ production costs…
..It is especially interesting that in his fury over the impertinent and insulting speech of Zelensky, Morawiecki let out an observation that you otherwise would not have heard or seen in Western media: namely that the grain Ukraine is exporting is on behalf of the Ukrainian oligarchs who own the farmland.
Though he was incensed, Morawiecki nonetheless did watch his words, because he omitted saying that the Ukrainian grain being exported is also substantially produced by American agricultural behemoths who now own about 28% of the farmland in Ukraine and are raising their stakes all the time.
It would be fair to say that the whole scandal over Ukrainian exports of grain via its EU neighbors is not that the grain does not end up in the ports of the world’s neediest countries, it is that the beneficiaries of the exports are US corporations and Ukrainian crooks, not the Ukrainian people and its small holding farmers in particular. The main losers are the farmers of small, medium and large holdings in the EU, who cannot compete on price with the Ukrainians both because of the natural advantages of their ‘black earth’ lands, the most fertile in Europe, and because of the industrial scale that has been introduced in Ukraine by the new corporate owners, domestic and foreign.
In the midst of the dispute over Ukrainian grain, Western media have picked up tidbits of information about other Ukrainian agricultural commodities that have raised hackles among EU farmers. The longest list probably has been compiled by Hungary, which seeks to ban virtually all produce from Ukraine. For their part, Bulgaria and Romania have complained over cheap Ukrainian honey.
And yet the complaints over predatory pricing of Ukrainian farm products have come from as far west as France, where the main issue is Ukrainian poultry meat, priced at less than half producer costs in France. In part, this is due to the same cheap grain issue, since chickens are walking sacks of grain: two kilograms of wheat give you one kilogram of broiler chickens. But the additional driver of Ukrainian export prices is scale of production. French television recently brought out the fact that the biggest exporter of poultry meat to France that is being purchased by the school lunch programs as well as by major retail grocery chains is a Ukrainian complex that raises one million chickens at a time and has vertical integration from the grain inputs, to the hatcheries, to the slaughter and chilled packaging of eviscerated chickens. By contrast, the average chicken farmer in France keeps just 50,000 birds. This news was of increased interest to me, as I had been awaiting the arrival of the mass ejections from the mild flares, but had a loss of internet service in (rural) Yoakum from 3:10 PM yesterday until just before midnight, correlating to the induced geomagnetic disturbances. The outage may have been coincidental, but causes are never divulged.
An equivalent electrical disruption to the Carrington Event might occur today with flare magnitudes under X-30, if the solar flare were Earth-facing, which most are not.
