I wonder if Israel is waking up to the horrifying corner they have just gotten themselves into?
It all comes back to a few of those most basic of all basic human rights that I spoke of yesterday.
If Israel takes away the Palestinians basic human rights of being allowed to exist, communicate and defend themselves AT ALL, then Israel officially denies that those rights exist as inalienable basic human rights that NO ONE can take away. Pretty simple.
But if those rights are NOT really basic and inalienable (by anybody), then Israel can no longer claim right to them either. In other words, if Iran, China or Russia were to just come in and TAKE Israel (the way Syria just got taken without permission) then nobody can get up a high horse and claim that it just ain’t RIGHT to take away peoples’ rights like that. Why? Because Israel has just acted out their unshakable belief that those things are NOT basic human rights. They’re saying that there are no such things as inalienable human rights..
Can’t have it both ways.
So if someone decides to just take whatever they want (like Israel or Palestine, for example), without so much as a “by your leave”, then the victim has no right to call it a wrong or even complain. Dog eat dog, and stop the whining.
That is the corner that Israel is in, and they painted themselves into it all by their lonesome.
