I tried to explain, hey, “it is impossible for the data to yet exist that might verify the safety and efficacy of these vaccines” — to no avail. Their minds were closed to all but their trusted authorities, who had first stoked their fears, and subsequently soothed those same fears with the phrase “safe and effective.”

Or, that if I like some things that Trump does that I must approve of all of his actions? Or, if I explore the ins and outs and details around something that Trump says or does, rather than immediately rejecting it, that I somehow must “love” Trump, i.e. support all that he says/does?
I think that this may be a form of subtle tribalism in action. Or, it is mental shorthand — a topic or human is labeled as “bad,” and then anything associated with it is automatically dumped in that mental category without further analysis.
It reminds me of when I interact with Christians and they tell me that “Mormons have horns,” or that anyone who isn’t a Christian is a devil-worshiper, or that all morality derives from Christianity, therefore atheists are, by default, immoral. Or, of how difficult it is to share with a senior friend that perhaps the statins that they have been on for years are driving their memory issues and that cholesterol is not the enemy.

Fastest way to get socially excommunicated around here is to not clap like a seal and nod when someone opines on how Trump is the literal personification of Satan. My mind is open on the subject but my mouth certainly isn’t (I am given to understand that divorce is rather expensive).

Both these statements, and there are many more, are patently wrong and are not backed by any evidence. Absolutely wrong. Firstly, there is the assumption that spreading disease between healthy people is a bad thing. This was absolutely wrong and was never a historical way of dealing with pandemics. The historical way was to protect the vulnerable and let the healthy be the first line of defense. Locking down children was one of the most ridiculous and useless actions, but we had to protect granny. As you say, RIM got it wrong big time.
The vaccines did nothing, so in the end everybody alive caught Covid and survived, so what was the point of lockdowns? They just tried to delay us all getting Covid so we could catch it later? I very much doubt they had any effect on Covid.
Covid was all about testing. The story of its emergence was bullshit, it was a man-made scam, I do not believe that the elites would be brave enough to release an actual pathogen that could have destroyed their own children, and I do not believe that the elites were clever enough to have their own secret vaccine to protect themselves but not the plebs. It was all controlled through the testing, which was why African leaders (real leaders, not the puppets we have in the west) paid with their lives for mocking the blatantly corrupt tests.

Because humans are a herding animal, they have a herding instinct, they want to know whether you are in their herd or not. Simple tests, such as your hatred of Trump, are an easy and quick way to judge you. The herding instinct saves them from “not belonging” which their mental insecurities would find intollerable.

Trump’s playing thimblerig with the press and almost everyone else, only he’s using fifty shells and the pea isn’t under any of them. It’s not pleasant, but it’s what he has to work with.
The alt press is doing a pretty good job of picking up the slack of the MSM.
