Oh geez; I’m listening to a basoon concerto; everything is right in the world.
And then; I come to the internet; and everything is going to hell.
Because of the internet, we’re sucked into this vortex of alternate reality; one of governments, politics, and Machiavellian intrigues; their only reality is their ability to intrigue governments into war; nuclear war.
But listening to Cantata 140: Sleepers Awake, Johann Sebastian Bach; it’s hard to believe we could possibly be that stupid.
But we are that stupid.
Gods almighty; the treasures lost in that conflagration could never possibly be recovered.
Or,can we possibly, painfully, crawl back from that; only to do it again…
I don’t much care for Roy Lichtenstein’s art.
It’s rather boring, IMHO…
Lichtenstein and Warhol changed the way people look at the world; what thay saw around them, prominently, all the time, became art when blown up. That is similar to when artists started painting not gods or kings, but ordinary people. No, I get it. I even get Jeff Koons in the same way; he blew it up even more.
Ilargi;
Well, that’s what communication is all about; I understand your point.
A whole new way to look at Lichtenstein.
I do see your point…
New eyes to see…
Thanks
But, I will say, he’s hung up on crying women…
Why?
Hopeless, 1963
Picasso misogyny thinly veiled with a thought /word bubble.
Warhol, Lichtenstein and Koons..with all of them, there’s not much to “get”. The arbiters of “fine arts” are but a subset of the MSM discourse masters. Their “easy come”…readers are readily induced to let go of their wealth without effort as a kind of circle jerk with others of their ilk to self-promote illusions of success and power. It seems to them shrewd as long as the trajectory continues upward, much like stocks or real estate, and like the latter, art is a favorite place to launder dirty money.
Reminds me of my favorite discussion about art:
Calvin:
A painting. Moving. Spiritually enriching. Sublime. …“High” art!
The comic strip. Vapid. Juvenile. Commercial hack work. …“Low” art.
A painting of a comic strip panel. Sophisticated irony. Philosophically challenging. …“High” art.
Hobbes:
Suppose I draw a cartoon of a painting of a comic strip?
Calvin:
Sophomoric, intellectually sterile. …“Low” art.
from Calvin and Hobbes
by Bill Watterson
Doc Robinson
My chuckle for the day…
