I am surprised they haven’t blamed it on Global Warming – yet. 🙂
October 25, 2017 at 10:20 am #36675SteveBParticipantVineyards and wine are just as bubbly (sorry) as many other markets. I can see it in my state and in the buying choices and conversations of friends and extended-family members. Crash coming. (In one case, an in-law might be over extended. Puns abound!)
October 25, 2017 at 10:41 am #36676V. ArnoldParticipantMish, way up yonder, seems to ridicule the Petro-Yuan’s threat to the US dollar. He almost had me; until I realized he didn’t address the dollars hegemon and power over the world’s finances/economy.
The US has weaponized the dollar as it wreaks financial havoc on countries that refuse to bend the knee to the US.
IMO, countries (many) are desparately looking for ways to dump the dollar to maintain their sovereignty and still trade with the world markets in other currencies.
Again, IMO, the US is in decline, aided further, by decades of continuous war; sapping any hope of a just and equal part in the world’s multi-polarity; so pathetically fought by the ex-hegemon of what was once a great country. Do not RIP…October 25, 2017 at 5:33 pm #36681rapierParticipantDid Illargi and we know that Greece was going to be raped and continue to be raped. Long before it became evident, even as nobody who is anybody thinks it has even been hurt a bit because they don’t think of it at all, up to this very moment? Absolutely he did.
So how in the hell can he get all atwitter over the very very old news that the Clinton campaign paid for the Steele oppo research, after the Republicans stopped paying for it because Trump was then their nominee. There is no news there, No there there. It’s what campaigns do. Trumps primary opponents did it, then the Clinton campaign took over. It’s the most normal thing in the world and it isn’t new, This was known months ago. It was known in the days after the dossier came out.
Illargi getting lead around by the nose on this stuff is so dispiriting to see here. Thrown crap against the wall, erstwhile information, oh so suspicious, to garner emotions. It’s all so sad.
Cue to the brilliant Marcy Wheeler at Emptywheel

October 25, 2017 at 9:38 pm #36683NassimParticipantThe USA are giving up any pretence to be introducing democracy to Afghanistan or any such nonsense. The Taliban are going to win – eventually. It is worth remembering the the Taliban were considered to be liberators in the Western media not so very long ago.
Phoenix 2.0 – CIA To Unleash Vietnam Era Terror Campaign On Afghanistan
The only reason they are still there is because of the opium – which is a hugely profitable business for the CIA.

October 26, 2017 at 8:44 am #36688Les FrancisParticipant50 years plus ago. The Nightcart came around and picked up your DunnyCan
Loos were out in the backyard against the fence.
The Loo consisted of a seat above a large bin – the “Dunny Bin”
The night cart man came around and replaced these bins when full. They were rumored to lift these cans onto the shoulders when full. Which led to the saying “Flatter than a shit carters hat”Also : Q Whats the fastest truck in the world? A. A Nightcart truck – it’s got 48 pisstons.
October 26, 2017 at 8:52 am #36689Les FrancisParticipantYour subject.
4 out of 10 Canadians cant live with out going further into debt.
This probably applies to Australia as well.My sister is 65 years old. She is in very poor health, has a poor paying job, has no assets to speak off, rents her house and lives off her credit card.
The credit card outstanding amount is huge $40 – $50 thousand dollars (who gives people like her credit?)
I have admonished her about this debt and told her one day the credit card reaper is going to come knocking off the door.
She does’t care one bit. When she dies the credit card company can go to hell trying to recover the debt. (By her own admission she thinks she has less than 2 years to go before she goes)October 26, 2017 at 1:51 pm #36696anticlimacticParticipantCarbon reduction
I can imagine that the US and UK have reduced their carbon emissions.
If you export your manufacturing to China it will do that!
The losses in these countries are increases in China.
