ParticipantI catalog nonsense these days. I see remarkably ludicrous all around me everywhere except deep in the woods or home in my apt at night with the lights off and just a few candles anointing shiny pretties with raw unfiltered and unprocessed light.
I have to process their deranging, defiling input lest I lose hope or energy/courage to care (same thing, I guess), and perhaps even my ability apprehend reality sufficiently unfiltered that its beauty and worth can say with me.
One must laugh, nyet?

ParticipantThe age of old teaches you, usually after considerable fight, how much you have lost since you were young. But it also teaches you how much more you have than you realized when you were younger, how even the reduced portion of strength, memory, energy, flexibility, and time you have left is nonetheless vastly more than you could imagine just, oh, ten years ago.

<>Today we usually say that we bought it since land inheritance rarely happens anymore. We speak of legal rights including those purchased in the form of land deeds.
Today, we would not say “I’ll fight you for it”, because we’ve replaced “fight” with ‘right’: ‘It’s mine by right’ rather than the honest truth ‘It’s mine by fight.’
I think the era of rights is about passed, and a new era of fights is begun.

I’ll disagree with this:
“That code is, I’m not going to MAKE somebody do something. That’s violence.”
You will always have to make somebody do something. That violence is called staying alive even if it’s done via lawsuit to enforce a contract that they signed. I think the avoidable violence is the violence to one’s soul (or psyche if one prefers) done by pretending one isn’t chronically indebted to violence all around and from you in order for you to contemplate a way to find some peace.
So there. Now you know I read it all .;)

Some Groundwork is necessary. Down below, there are these things called holograms. Holograms are formed when a coherent beam of light, usually supplied by a laser, is split smoothly and equally into two distinct beams and then reunited. One beam, called the reference beam, is allowed to continue unimpeded to a target plate, usually a photographic film. The other beam, called the interference beam, is aimed first at another object (let’s envision a rose), and from there is reflected to the target plate. The two beams are aimed to converge at a right angle upon the target plate. Here an intricate simplicity, perhaps even a relative singularity, occurs as the reference beam of pure coherent light interacts with the interference beam of adulterated (from being reflected by the rose) but still coherent light.
Purity, in the form of symmetrical coherence, is the key to what happens next. The interference beam has reflectively acquired the surface visual information of the object – the rose – it encountered along its path to the target plate. This information merges with and through the purely coherent reference beam. In passing through the other, the rigidly symmetrical (Soothic) Reference beam translates the information of the adulterated (Whimsic) Interference beam into a phototopology of the Original Thing (the Rose). The two beams, striving to be what they are and to continue as such, together form an informational entity which neither beam could have created individually.
Imagine God taking a holographic snapshot (picture God taking a picture) of Mount Rainier using a companion lake at its base as a target plate. God, say, Apollo, fires a beam of coherent sunlight through the mirrored lens of an approaching comet which diverges the solar laser beam into two, one heading straight for the lake and the other for the mountain, aimed in such a way as to reflect off the mountain and join its sibling reference beam in a transformative embrace on the lake’s surface. To tourists viewing Lake Holograph from the shore opposite the mountain, the mountain’s reflected image would not appear shimmering upside-down as it would in the conventional postcard vista, but would instead maintain its stern pose as seen from God’s view at high noon, with its volcanic crater squinting into the photoflashic sun. Since God’s point of view is presumably so removed from ours that our vantages of perspective would reveal no discernable change in our view of the holograph, it would present the same frozen facade from all points of view including that of the montanist at the summit who could enjoy the thrill of looking down over his own shoulder at himself looking down over his own shoulder at himself looking down over his own shoulder…(provided he’d closed his eyes during the solar shutterflash)…and while infinite regressions are not a necessary attribute of holography (picture God taking a picture of you picturing God taking a picture of you picturing God), they do provide a nice interferic beam of comparison that helps elucidate holography’s infinite perspective of the same view. Jeepers creepers. I think we’re now prepared to wrestle with the notion of holographic thought itself.

I’ll note that the middle, self-serving option includes the possibility that he has seen VAIDS and it scared him. From what I know of Elon, I’d guess it’s an equal blend of all 3 but mostly 1 & 2: surely he knows that the current regime is going down.
ANYway… once a crusade begins to gather real momentum, the war has already been won, and now all that’s left is revenge. You know, that ‘serving of justice’ we speak so highly of and take so seriously even though it so rarely happens, and it usually serves a cure worse than the disease.

ParticipantFor Kassandra:
I think that one of the most reliable forms of happiness is pondering the miracle that creature experience felicity in the first place. If one believes that life is something designed by a god, this turns emotions into biosoftware artifacts. Comforting to think this way in some respects, and it’s my favorite model for interpreting reality. But if one believes it’s something that arose through the undirected meanderings of evolution, it’s proof positive that the violent struggle, through which inconceivable numbers of creatures — from microbes to blue whales — have eaten each other, typically alive, with little if any regard for the other, can also produce states of emotions so fine that this struggle seems worth it to beings with reflective consciousness: humans. That’s also mighty divine, imo.
It’s a real thing, this happiness. For beings with above-cited reflective consciousness, with mirror neuron structures that allow most of us (sorry, psychopaths) to experience rough simulations of the emotional states of other beings, the meaning is obvious: he is happiest who does as much to increase the happiness of others as himself.
Politically, this is expressed in the concept of socialism, in which All For One and One For All is he defining principle. Capitalism, uh, not so much. Capitalism is each man for himself. As an economic method, capitalism is awesome. Capital must be acquired and employed to generate prosperity. But as a political system, it fails from the onset, since politics is a group struggle to produce harmony and group prosperity, and capitalism is the opposite: an individual struggle to produce personal wealth regardless of its effect on group harmony. It’s a miracle modern political capitalism has gone so far as it has, but the answer is largely found in the enormous amount of resources this planet offers tool-making monkeys like ourselves. We’ve about used up the fattest portion, whose uber-abundance lets so many live so lavishly compared to the conditions most humans have lived in throughout history. But that fat is about burnt up and then we’ll be forced to cooperate and care for each other as *part* of each other, because politically and economically, that is exactly what we are.
But no political -ism works on a large scale. Socialism is a disaster on scales larger than Dunbar’s Number, likewise capitalism or any -ism you apply. (Anarchy at least has the decency to end with a ‘y’ not an ‘ism’.) What works is you and the person next door looking out for each other.

ParticipantI’ve researched the “FDR Knew” angle of Pearl Harbor and will point out a few things.
Yes, FDR worked hard to goad Japan into war.
Yes, he had very good reason to think that Pearl Harbor would be their first target, not the Philippines.
But, push comes to shove with the facts (and they exist in manifold detail), his crime was worse than that of letting Pearl Harbor’s people get slaughtered. FDR thought his Navy would detect and respond to any Nipponese carrier fleet before they could do any damage. He thought he could start a war via a minor event: “NEWSFLASH: JAPANESE CARRIER FLEET CAUGHT NEARP EARL HARBOR IN FULL COMBAT MODE” Something like that. Something that wouldn’t have Congressional investigations crawling up his ass the rest of his days. He thought he could get away with it. Well, he did, but not in a way that his mirror could pretend wasn’t a fuckup with huge blood on his hands. I think this is partly why he was so adamantly for Total War, unconditional surrender, all that. He had to go all-out in order not to admit to himself that he not only started the bloody mess, but he started the bloody mess with a bloody mess.
I think that Trump and FDR were a lot alike except that FDR was the consummate insider while Trump is the renegade outsider.
FDR:

Would FDR have let it happen as it happened if he had absolute knowledge it would go down that way if he didn’t avert the attack by ceasing to pinch Japan into a resource-deprived corner?
I find that question hard to answer. My impression of such creeps-in-charge is that they can condone all kinds of nastiness so long as they don’t have to squarely look themselves in the face for it. A toxic narcissist will do or allow almost anything to happen in order to avoid confronting the truth about himself. This logically includes forestalling a slaughter at Pearl Harbor that they knew they caused.
Cruel enough to make it happen but not cruel enough to watch it happen, in other words.
But he definitely worked hard to make the Japanese attack, and knew damn well that Pearl Harbor was actually a likelier target than the Philippines. But there was no damning cryptogram deliberately ignored, and the fact that our Navy was rather a piece of shit at the time did the rest.
And, of course, the investigation into Pearl Harbor was a whitewash, just like 91, and like 911, the most damning evidence isn’t that of absolute proof of planned causation or complicity; it is that FDR/Dubya both took advantage of those events in a manner roughly identical to how we would expect them to behave if they did indeed had planned for them to happen.
It’s kinda like the similarity between giving a girl date rape drugs to bed her, or getting her so plastered she might6 as well have been given date rape drugs… which in matter of fact, she has.
