In May 2020, Imperial College’s Neil Ferguson was forced to resign from his post as the head of the UK’s Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE). The public reason given was Neil’s sexual escapades with a married woman during a draconian lockdown in the UK at the height of the first wave of hysterics. Neil should have also been removed from all his positions at the UN, WHO and Imperial College (most of which he continues to hold) and probably jailed for his role in knowingly committing fraud for two decades.After all, Neil was not only personally responsible for the lockdowns that were imposed onto the people of the UK, Canada, much of Europe and the USA2, but as the world’s most celebrated mathematical modeller, he had been the innovator of models used to justify crisis management and pandemic forecasting since at least December 2000.
It was at this time that Neil joined Imperial College after spending years at Oxford. He soon found himself advising the UK government on the new “foot and mouth” outbreak of 2001.
Neil went to work producing statistical models extrapolating linear trend lines into the future and came to the conclusion that over 150,000 people would be dead by the disease unless 11 million sheep and cattle were killed. Farms were promptly decimated by government decree and Neil was awarded an Order of the British Empire for his service to the cause by creating scarcity through a manufactured health crisis.
In 2002, Neil used his mathematical models to predict that 50,000 people would die of Mad Cow Disease which ended up seeing a total of only 177 deaths.

I was raised in a conservative household that revered Reagan and distrusted government. I never lost that perspective (and it served me well through the Covid debacle.). As a child I recognized the falsity of advertising, and this was the germ that sprouted into my distrust of corporations. For over a decade I have had to rely on assistance of various sorts, including food stamps and Medicaid, and aid from friends and family, in order to provide sufficiently for my children, as their father turned out to be a selfish a—hole and I was not prepared to support them on my own.I disagree with you…it isn’t that “government is categorically bad” nor that “corporations are categorically evil.” Neither are religions, churches, non-profits, schools (whatever the flavor,) nor other groups fundamentally evil. The problems arise from human organizations that become bloated and powerful, losing touch with the individuals that comprise them or that interface with them, and becoming the tools of humans who are egotistical, out-of-touch with others and/or suffer from behaviors that we often label as “cluster B” or related mental maladies. This could be rephrased into more traditional terms by saying that these organizations have lost touch with Christian values, that their leaders and supporters are corrupt.
Coming to this realization has caused my respect for the US framers of the Constitution to increase, as I realized that they fundamentally understood this and were trying to create a system of government that would resist this inclination towards corruption and tyranny. It didn’t work. That does not mean that their undertaking was not without merit. It does suggest that any human organization is susceptible to corruption, and that we must be vigilant to resist it, and to make adjustments to our organizations to reduce this corruption.

The US and UK have moved at least 24 combat ships into the seas off the coast of Yemen, ostensibly “to protect global shipping lanes”. This is a lie. The Houthis have clearly stated that, one, that they are only targeting ships serving Israeli interests, and that all other shipping is under no threat, and two, that they are willing to cease all military operations against Israeli shipping as soon as Israel stops its attacks on Gaza and the West Bank.
It is ONLY Israeli shipping that is under threat, and it is ONLY Israeli shipping that US and UK naval forces are deployed to protect. But by escalating the situation in the Red Sea, they are putting at risk ALL shipping passing through the Red Sea and Suez Canal, which accounts for 12% of all global trade and 30% of all container shipping, as well as about 8% of world trade in both oil and LNG, for a total annual value of over a trillion US dollars.

In addition to the virtual guarantee the high court will overrule this political nonsense, SCOTUS can make the entire issue moot before them by following their own normal schedule for submissions, arguments, deliberation and opinions delivered by the court.
The Colorado appellate court knows this, that’s why they put this self-stay into their 4-3 ruling. It’s a politically correct way of giving the optics of telling their tribe, ‘hey we’re with you,’ without the ramifications of the political backlash. Update (1424ET):Tracking the supply chain mess unfolding across the Red Sea is a post on X showing container ships with 8,000 or more twenty-foot equivalent unit container capacity have mostly diverted from the critical maritime trade route.
“Every containership over 8,000TEUs, except for one, have turned from the Bab el-Mandeb,” X user Sal Mercogliano wrote.
