Wouldn’t work. Maneuverability is the problem, and with a relatively small projectile, as fired from a rail gun, you need maneuverability to hit the target. Anyway, why a rail gun, you can get a rocket to do much worse than a rail gun. At such high speeds, you cannot use ailerons to direct the projectile because – as any windsurfer can tell you – the aileron will spin out. In other words, you would create a vaccum behind the aileron rather than directing air behind the aileron, so the only reliable way to steer the projectile would be rocket motors. So the rail gun – but why? – would need to fire a missile with rocket motors. May as well launch a rocket: a missile. Better still, cover the possible track of the Kinshal with plasma created by a nuke.
