The social psychologists of the future will have a number of classes of school children on whom they will try different methods of producing an unshakable conviction that snow is black. Various results will soon be arrived at. First, that the influence of home is obstructive. Second, that not much can be done unless indoctrination begins before the age of ten. Third, that verses set to music and repeatedly intoned are very effective. Fourth, that the opinion that snow is white must be held to show a morbid taste for eccentricity. But I anticipate. It is for future scientists to make these maxims precise and discover exactly how much it costs per head to make children believe that snow is black, and how much less it would cost to make them believe it is dark gray.
The Tribal Mind: Moral Reasoning and Public Discourse
Moral reasoning is often used to intensify partisan loyalty. In that respect, it can actually harm public discourse.
In this essay, I examine the problem of moral reasoning and offer three proposals for mitigating its damaging effects:
The first is to take opposing points of view at face value, rather than attempt to analyze them away reductively.
The second is to police your own side, meaning that one should attempt, contrary to instinct, to examine more critically the views of one’s allies than the views of one’s opponents.
The third is to “scramble the teams” by creating situations in which people of differing political views must work together to achieve a goal requiring cooperative effort.
This essay is inspired in large part by reading Jonathan Haidt’s new book, The Righteous Mind. It also draws on a number of other works that look at the role of moral reasoning for both the individual and society.
What I take away from Haidt is the hypothesis that our capacity to think about moral and social problems evolved from an ability to rationalize our actions. Thus, our capacity to rationalize our moral and political beliefs is much greater than we realize; conversely, our capacity for detached reasoning about moral and political issues is much less than we realize. The fact that we rationalize more readily than we reason helps to sustain political polarization.
The work of Haidt and other psychologists is persuasive and disturbing. It exposes a tendency to form ideological tribes that use moral arguments as rationalizations. Tribes will go out of their way to misunderstand one another. If we want to get along better and resolve differences more easily, it will take conscious effort to overcome tribal behavioral instincts.
I remember visiting TAE over a decade ago, finding the tribal mindset abhorrent.
In the third quarter of 2020 I visited again, finding an entirely different scenario where information, opinions, experiences + moral/spiritual support was prevalent in the face of the calamity EVERYONE is living through in this age of bio-weapons, terrorism & totalitarian madness…
It would be a shame to lose that spirit & return to tribal closed mindedness, but that appears exactly what is occurring.

I’m guessing you’re referring to a certain amount of over-identification with “Team Blue”. Sorry about that. Many of us were renegade children of the PMC for whom old mental habits died hard. I submit that the placebo effect is very powerful. JUst knowing that a judge cared enough to kake the hospital stop killing him might have given Ng’s neurophysiology the strength it needed to recover.

A striking pattern of rapid normalization of breathing function was observed in a retrospective cohort study of consecutive hospitalized patients with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 who were treated at four Florida hospitals [273, 285]. Patients in the treatment group (n=173) received IVM at a low dose of 200 μg/kg, some with repeated doses at weekly intervals, plus usual care, with the control group (n=107) receiving usual care matched in age, race and comorbidities. Although a reduction in mortality for the treated vs. control group, 40%, was less than those obtained at higher doses [274-276], significant improvements in patient status within a short period were noteworthy. Stabilization and then improvement in respiratory function often occurred within 1-2 days after IVM treatment, even for patients who had been deteriorating rapidly from room air to supplemental oxygen at up to a 50% mixture (FiO2 ≤ 0.5).

My German friend, a pharmacist, says he is “not a medical doctor”, which I do not readily find elsewhere.

Reviewing the video, it looks plenty enough like him, Facial recog software could make a positive ID but I feel no need for verification. Googling Thomas Jenges on google encounters strong censorship, and that tells me allI feel I need to know on the matter at this point.
I conclude: the video is real, he may or may not have left a suicide note (the act prefers sudden impulse that often leaves no time for suicide notes), and it is precisely because he was a medical CEO not a grunt-line MD that he was able to spendf 1,500 hours researching the topic. 1.5k hours ia a LOT of time, but as CEO of a major clinic during the covid era, he would have been reading gobs of stuff about covid even as a former vakzine supporter.
One day the cognitive dissonance overcame his deniam and he broke, I’m thinking.
