Adding this to yesterday’s article that the EU officially refused to help refugees and openly preferred their drowning (“their” being either the refugee or the Italian and Greek states), https://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/apr/22/eu-borders-chief-says-saving-migrants-lives-cannot-be-priority-for-patrols
we can see how many thousand deaths are considered incidental, if not openly commendable, to the patrons of the present system. 1M dead in Libya, 2M dead or displaced in Syria, 1M refugees from Ukraine, openly bombing and invading Yemen on no pretense at all, killing on the order of several million Iraqis over the many years? Meh. I feel quite sure their only lament is that they didn’t do more. If only they could accomplish more, I’m quite sure it would be a perfect world. And it’s all of us shleps down on the ground holding back their big plans with our “human happiness, must save lives, not kill your fellow man.” Blah blah blah.
When are we going to stop cowering about the true name of such activity, of such impulses, and call it what it is?
