Latest from Orlov on Donetsk and Lugansk:

Denis Pushilin, leader of Donetsk, has just ordered a full evacuation. Leonid Pasechnik, leader of Lugansk, did the same. In doing so, they did exactly as I expected, and as I predicted. […]

    @F.S.

That explains it. That said, I wasn’t up for another day of “Trucks don’t have charter rights” idiocy from Elizabeth May (what about the people in those trucks?).

Emerson and the Peace Arch Crossings I was especially interested in, as those two were the ones I crossed the most as a driver. Coutts, not so much because my routes back home took me across Crowsnest Pass then down 95 into Idaho. Not one Youtube about Emerson though, which I found strange, as it’s the second busiest in terms of freight.

Orlov is some kind of a genius but he is also increasingly socially deranged:

“In doing so, they did exactly as I expected, and as I predicted. For all those of you who think that Putin is a mystery wrapped in an enigma, perhaps you should avoid thinking and just read my articles!”

I know he’s trying to make a joke but it’s the same joke he always makes: ‘I’m not trying to say I’m smarter than you, but I am, and while I’m at it: you’re so stupid.’

I understand how lonely it can be for an iconoclastic genius like Dmitry, and I’m sure he could give a shit what we think of how he deals with being Dmitry, but I think he’ll have to learn how to smile and be nice when he’s trading vodka for food on his survival yacht. Else he won’t last long.

    Socks in the news today:

Almost three years after the Federal government of Canada announced its intention to acquire the Trans Mountain pipeline, Ottawa is pulling the plug on funding. An expansion project slated to bring an additional ~600kb/d of Canadian oil to market was long delayed by protest and appeal when the Federal government stepped in to purchase the pipe for C$4.5b. Since, Ottawa has been able to move forward with construction, but at an increasingly high cost. Under Kinder Morgan’s (NYSE:KMI) ownership, the expansion project was slated to cost C$7.4b; however, in 2020 the budget increased to C$12.6b, and Friday – today – was updated to C$21.4b.

… some phlunkin’ dump truck that Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau! Yes?

Big pharma managed to get together a vaccine for the original variant in a matter of weeks. But they are still vaccinating people with the original vaccine, now at booster number 4. So, why are they not updating the vaccine and making it relevant to the later variants?

I can only think of a few possible reasons:
    – They manufactured loads of the first version so needs to get rid of the stock: not very convincing given the delays in delivery.
    – They do not want to go through the FDA licensing process again: unlikely as they bought the FDA decades ago.
    – They know that the original didn’t work so why would an updated version work: unlikely as the FDA could use the variants as a reason to give big pharma even more grant money.
The first vaccine was not actually based on Covid, so the change in variant makes no difference: this is the most likely explanation.

“… and he is no longer living on his sailboat in Boston Harbour. He sold his boat and now lives in Leningrad, … er, St. Petersburg, Russia. fwiw”

That probably explains the increasingly pro-Russian anti-Euromerican vitriol. Oh, he’s right to be contemptuous but he does it without compassion.

“Speak for yourself, please. I lost faith in these “pillars” decades ago.”

Perhaps you might speak for yourself, upstate. You assume you’re part of the “we” he means. Maybe before you separate yourself from the group you might ask if you’re part of the “we” he means in the first place. “We” does not necessarily mean ‘everybody’ or ‘TAE’.

I read it as a way of expressing ‘a whole buncha people’.

Or you could at least say ‘Please speak for yourself’ rather than issue a curt imperative.

Why yes it’s none of my business, rather like your remark to tdk.

I suppose I lost faith in medicine when I got barred from the only practice in town (Spokane,WA) that had a doc who knew HHT and how to help my nose… because I told the woman at the receptionist desk, who wore her very ample bosom out proudly up high with maximum cleavage deliberately made even more visible because one looks down on her from the receptionist, that it was a very nice blouse and flattering to her upper body. Very euphemistically expressed. Trying to compliment her for those things she practically wore in a picture frame. . (I know, I know. Sometimes I feel like I have social Tourette’s.)

She complained to legal; legal did major CYA per sexual harassment regs; and I was kicked out flat, me. the same guy who often brought cinnamon rolls and lemon pound cake for the front staff at my appts.

The doctor who does it,( great guy, we always had fun on our visits, major Libertarian who himself spoke of how dismal post-modern medicine was becoming and how the next generation of docs were McDonalds cookie-cutter clone apps) still did my surgeries for me anyway. He made money while the office lost revenues from my visits. I stayed alive.

Speaking for myself, it wasn’t hard to lose faith from that.

Why would anyone have faith in humans anyway? Just believe them without evidence to back their assertions? Usually some get out of this stage when mom says there’s no Santa Claus of Easter Bunny, but some never do. They just replace Santa/EB with their favorite celebrity doctor/scientist/clergy/teacher/politician/ entertainer/sports figure.

Me? Those aforementioned can either show me the evidence or shut up. Faith is usually reserved for entities we can’t “prove” exists, thus, reserved for your God or creator. Nothing else.

Sad to see freedom being ruthlessly snuffed out these days in Canada. We were only ever free to do what Trudeau tells us to do.

I am sad my 3 tap maple syrup operation has been shutdown by authorities imposing colder than normal weather and by dumping half a foot of snow in an attempt to bury it. Hopefully some global warming will revive it. Trying to get rich, one drip at a time!

TAE must be in a blue mood as global cooling forces us to fling “word poo” at each other just to keep warm! Keep flinging even if you miss! We old locked-down folks need all the exercise we can get!

I have seen some vague mention of February 23 as a day for a general strike or boycott as a followup to the trucker’s protest? Is there any meat on this bone?

Exempted from Trudeau’s war measures act are; immigrants, natives, & minorities.
Didn’t Trudeau call the truckers “a fringe minority”?
Why are they not exempt from the war measures act then?

@Germ: Bill Gates just wanders around trying to find a narrative, like “deflationista”. It’s too bad we couldn’t get vaccines to more people in time before Omicron vaccinated them with T-cell and B-cell immunity (aka “durable immunity”)

    @Boscohorowitz
: The “virtual visit” charade is paid more than the “telemedicine” drill, which is just a phone call, not a medically secure Zoom link, which is worth a lot more.
“Can’t even loo up your nose”, Nope, she can’t. It is an extreme intermediation of one competent expert person helping another person solve a problem. It has been intermediated until it means nothing but money moving and permission being given for some distant real thing to happen. It’s how the money moves through the channels to keep the zombie apocalypse walking.
I kept wanting to see everybody in person, and so did most people, and I never did follow the orders to do all the link training and set it up. Fortunately I had a desktop without a microphone at t=first, then the insurance kept paying for the phone call “telemedicine” “visits”, so I called people who were afraid to come in, and found out what they needed. After Delta came along and a lot of the other “Providers” wanted to stay home again, I got to see patients in clinic like regular, until I got fired.
My theory is that “they” thought they might teach AI to be a doctor better by getting all this video for the machines to learn, but I don’t think so. I’m a fuddy duddy. I think people dealing with people is actually a very advanced and refined bio-technology that is inadequately comprehended by everybody fascinated by robot dogs dancing and doing back flips.

Some have even lost faith that there is a God.

A friend’s Father was one such person. He was a young Jewish boy in Cechslovakia during WW2. The Germans had rounded up his entire family and they were at the railway station being loaded onto a train. A rich Aunt bribed a guard and he was released. He became an altar boy in the local Catholic church. One day he saw several drunk German soldiers shoot a bunch of school boys playing soccer for fun. He said after seeing that, he knew then there was no God.

This man, a gifted metalergist, came to Canada in 1967, and invented nickel vapor depthidation technology where steel can be coated with nickel in controlled increments of one millionist of a inch. (Vaporized nickel is deadly! One whiff and you will drop dead on the spot!)

We’ve all (ahem) Many of us have heard now that biden is now convinced that Putin wants to invade Ukraine, but we may not have seen the magic picture CNN shared in which he is either channeling spirits of divination like Carnac with no turban and lousy hair or, as my wife said, “He is working a Cock Block on Putin.”

Here is Carnac the Cock Blocker in prestidigital action:

    You!SHall!Not!PASS!!!!!

    “You Shall Not PASS!!!!!!”

Burt srsly or something, look at the image CNN features. They’re more careful with images than their Crayola-scrawled words, I would think. That picture tells me that they’re beginning to pull the plug on dear old Captain Gasbag.

I hate to say it, but I think DBS’ view of guys like Biden and Trudeau having no choice but to keep on dancing even if it makes them look like the puppets they are. Not because I dislike agreeing with BDS. I just swig some Pepto-Bismol and I get over it. 😉

I say it because it strongly suggests to me that something wicked this way cometh… although that wickedness may be ‘no more’ than providing cover for the billionaires to find an exit strategy from the quicksand that keeps bubbling all over their nice ice-coated Titanic captain’s tower. Which alone will surely harm millions of people at a dice throw.

    Hahaha!

fwiw, the actual doctor proved to be a rare gem, perhaps the best doctor I’ve dealt with since old Doc Calloway when I was a kid. The insane frustration of getting through questionnaires and security checks designed by low-brow code monkeys following orders from two-legged 3-ring binders passing as administration, was amply compensated by The Mighty Yahweh (woowoowoo! u da bosss! 😉 ) in the form of a most adept and good-times doctor.

It helped that I had a caique parrot peeking at the screen when she first came into view on the app.

We had a good time. Laughed a lot. She actually used the time intelligently in a way that increased my chanfces of better than worse health in many ways.

I’m shocked, I tell you. No., I mean really. I’m shocked.

It would be fun to have you for a doctor. Maybe you’d do your Marcus Welby impersonation for me.

Reminds me of an old doc who was one of the better ones. Mirko ZUgec, got started in medicine in the Serbian Army during the Kosovo thingie. We wanted to recude a med I was taking.

“Is very scientific how ve do diss, R-r-r-robeyert,” he said, pulling apart a capsule and spilling teensy bouncing pellets on his desk. “Quick! Catch dem!”

Pellets confined, he took a Post-It and began separating them two like a child playing with sand. Gigglineg the whole time.

Not to be outdone, I took another Post-It and used its gummed edge to pick up one half of the divided pellets and place them in the capsule.

(The last sentence isn’t true but I wanted, um, closure.)

    ***

tdk” “you can speak for me anytime you wish. you haven’t been wrong yet. and the day you are, i’ll just politely issue a polite correction.”

China can be so depressing, mostly because sectors of society can be so primitive and psychopathic, with very little empathy for their fellow creatures. The most shocking recent story – after the skinning alive of dogs, the massacre of sharks, the forced labour of Uighurs etc – is the one about the Chinese female slave trade … https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2022/02/09/china-chained-xuzhou-mother-human-trafficking/.

The Chinese open a window to raw human behaviour, behaviour that is not tempered by religion, is not focused on happiness, but is based on cash and the survival of the family name, a form of Chinese superstition combined with the necessity of having children to look after them when they are old. The government basically providing jobs and the minimum of services needed to support those jobs.

Even though the Canadian authoritarians would undoubtedly chain up a woman as a sex slave, we can still be thankful that the worst of the Canadian people have not yet sunk to the level of the worst sections of Chinese society. Maybe that is yet to come.
